Chapter 293 - 65 Ghost Special Forces_2
Wu Min’er was the person who had changed everything; even though she had only shown him a friend’s concern, a partner’s trust, it was enough for Lu Xinying—enough to pay a painful price for it.
Boom, the sound of the door opening snapped Lu Xinying back to reality. He looked towards the entrance and saw Hu Santong walking in.
"Old Lu, the car is ready. Are we going to take action now?"
"Of course, tonight is perfect."
As he and Hu Santong descended the stairs, Yang Xueqin was already waiting by the car.
This was a black imported Hummer off-road vehicle, worth over a million. Normally, the three of them couldn’t afford this sum, but since leaving the company, they had plundered four or five underground money houses, accumulating over ten million in loot; thus, an imported Hummer was nothing to them.
The three of them got into the car, one after another, and drove towards the destination of tonight’s operation.
The car stopped at the edge of a forest in the suburbs. The three men got out, checked their surroundings for any onlookers, changed into their black night operations gear, and packed their backpacks with nylon climbing ropes, masks, and various other equipment. To anyone unaware, it might appear as if they were shooting an action movie.
However, this was no film. The three were extremely proficient, stealthily parking the car in the woods and gearing up. They followed the road for a distance, and a heavily guarded military camp appeared before them. Using their stealth skills, they vanished into the night and moved toward the military warehouse under the cover of darkness.
Military warehouses are always highly secure. However, this one was an exception, as it primarily stored decommissioned equipment. There was an excessive stockpile of outdated weapons, many of which would likely never see use in a lifetime. Over time, the security for these old weapons had become lax—not that a civilian could dream of breaking in to take a few pieces.
But Lu Xinying and his two companions were no longer ordinary people. Light as feathers, they leapt over the barbed-wire fence like the knights-errant from martial arts movies, disappearing on the other side.
Half an hour later, a subtle sound of something hitting the ground broke the stillness of the night. While not loud, it was still audible in the quiet of the night. Footsteps followed, heavier than the silent steps taken on their infiltration, growing more distant until they reached the car in the woods. A figure flickered, and a person materialized from thin air. Lu Xinying tossed his backpack into the trunk and breathed a sigh of relief.
Two more figures emerged behind him. Hu Santong and Yang Xueqin also threw their backpacks into the car. They watched as Lu Xinying closed the car door yet didn’t get into the vehicle, standing there as if hesitating about something.
"What’s wrong?" Lu Xinying glanced at the two, puzzled, "Hurry up and get in."
"Well, Old Lu, I think we might not be able to continue with you."
"What do you mean?" Lu Xinying’s face darkened, his tone suddenly chilling by several degrees.
Hu Santong seemed somewhat afraid and took a step back, but Yang Xueqin grabbed his shoulder and stepped forward.
"We’ve said it before; we’re just ordinary people after all. Even though we accidentally gained some ’Strength,’ compared to the military organization, it’s really nothing. The whole rescue mission for Wu seems utterly unrealistic, and besides, Wu’s fine now, right?"
"Wu is imprisoned, as I’ve already told you," Lu Xinying said, somewhat exasperated. He had explained so many times already; why couldn’t these two understand? Wu had helped them out countless times in the past. Why were they so ungrateful? Lu Xinying thought to himself, as a trace of coldness passed through his eyes. @@novelbin@@
Seemingly not wanting to provoke Lu Xinying further, Hu Santong said, "All right, let’s say you are right about this, but we don’t have to risk our lives for it. Wu only has one life, but we are three lives. To risk our three lives for the sake of Wu’s one, that’s a bad deal no matter how you look at it. Of course, we’re not forcing you to give up. We’ve helped you gather these weapons this time. If you want to go rescue Wu, then go ahead, but I’m not accompanying you."
Lu Xinying’s gaze lingered on Hu Santong’s face for a few seconds, his icy stare prompting Hu Santong to subconsciously grip the dagger at his waist, but he didn’t dare to draw it. Lu Xinying’s strength could easily crush both of them, and what made him even less confident was Lu Xinying’s ruthlessness. To him, taking lives seemed as simple as eating and drinking. Since the first robbery of a money house, Lu Xinying had killed seven or eight people in his presence, while he and Hu Santong had yet to even see blood.
"So you two have already discussed this?" Lu Xinying asked, looking at them.
Hu Santong hemmed and hawed, then steeled himself, "That’s right, Old Yang and I have discussed it. This time we helped you get so many weapons, we consider our debts of honor paid. From now on, we go our separate ways, and no one owes anyone anything."
Yang Xueqin nodded in agreement, "Exactly, that’s the idea."
Lu Xinying seemed very disappointed as he sighed, "If you truly think that way, then scram. But if you dare leak any information about my affairs, be careful for your little lives."
Upon hearing Lu Xinying’s words, Hu Santong and Yang Xueqin felt as if they had been granted amnesty. They quickly nodded, "Of course, how could we betray you..."
As they were swearing their oaths, a look of surprise suddenly crossed Lu Xinying’s eyes, "Damn, patrol is coming!"
The two turned around sharply, only to find pitch darkness behind them—no signs of anyone. Realizing their mistake, the thought crossed their minds at the same time. The next moment, they both felt an excruciating pain in their backs, so intense it nearly stopped their breath. Yang Xueqin could feel it was Lu Xinying’s military sabre that had pierced him. As the sabre was pulled out, his strength seemed to flow away with the blood that spurted out.
Struggling to turn around, what they saw was Lu Xinying’s cold gaze.
"Idiots, how well Ms. Wu treated you, and not a shred of gratitude. You deserved to die..."
Lu Xinying felt no remorse for killing his two comrades. He opened the car door, threw the bodies in, and drove away.
An hour later, in a completely sealed underground warehouse, the weapons from the three bags were sorted out: an 95-style assault rifle, an 05-style submachine gun, a QBS09-style shotgun, four 92-style pistols, and an M99 sniper rifle.
Several grenades and a large quantity of ammunition.
These weapons were all brand new, active-duty weapons. It had taken half a month of reconnaissance and planning to get these weapons, but it was all worth it. With these weapons, the chances of rescuing Ms. Wu had significantly increased.
Although he was skilled with a dagger, Lu Xinying felt that close-quarter combat was ultimately too restrictive. Combining the stealth abilities of the Shadow Dancer with modern firearms was the way to go.
A sniper capable of becoming invisible, much like the Ghost Special Forces in StarCraft, just the thought excited Lu Xinying.
A pungent odor caused Lu Xinying to sneeze. He glanced at the two bodies in the plastic barrel, which were quickly disintegrating under the acid’s immersion.
It was a pity, with those two fools gone, saving Wu Min’er by himself would be much more difficult. It seemed essential to recruit that guy. Lu Xinying thought, during this time apart from acquiring money and weapons, he also managed to find Xiao Buli’s address. Although Xiao Buli was unwilling to help, luckily, he had a backup plan.
As Lu Xinying thought, he turned on a computer nearby, logged into QQ, searched for the number, and finding the person online, he made contact immediately. ( Enjoy exclusive content from NovelBin.Côm
