Broken Possessors of Infinite Regression Academy

The Fifth Legion Commander of the Demon King's Army, Elder Lich, was an undead figure, skeletal and adorned with a cloak and decorations that barely clung to his bony frame.

He had once tried to move his Life Vessel after being tricked, only for the vessel's life force to restore his original appearance and force him to fight us. At that time, he attempted to cast a mental projection spell on me, but instead, he became a broken shell of his former self.

Despite being reduced to this state, his Life Vessel remained intact, granting him limitless regeneration, and he was subjected to countless biological experiments in the depths of the Mage Association for years.

"We've stripped it down to the minimum size necessary to maintain his body. When we tried to remove it completely, he reverted to his undead form. We can't be sure if his powers would return if he remained as an undead, but doesn't this form look better than a mere skeleton?" The White Tower Master stroked his long beard with a benevolent smile. Sure, the demon form was better than a skeleton, but that wasn’t the issue.

"Why bring him to the academy, of all places? There are students here. Erestica wouldn’t have allowed this."

"Rest assured, we have her permission."

"How?" I asked skeptically.

"The safest place, even safer than the Imperial Palace, is Velium Academy. You're here, as well as the Hero and the Black Dragon. The palace only has a few archmages and the royal guard—do you really think they can handle someone like you?"

If the Emperor heard this, he might have been so dumbfounded he’d seriously consider having the White Tower Master executed. Yet, here he was, casually saying such things and handing me a magical device.
