As they passed through the tunnel, the path abruptly ended, transforming into a vast lake.

Before Hoare and his companions lay a bizarre scene.

They stood on the shore of a black Great Lake, its surface vast and boundless, the distant opposite shore invisible.

The cave they were in was high, and looking up, they couldn't see the ceiling.

Far away, as if in the center of the lake, a hazy, greenish light flickered, reflecting in the still waters below.

Wherever Hoare looked, apart from that green light and the glow from two wands, there was nothing but impenetrable darkness.

The light from the wands wasn't as penetrating as Hoare had expected; the darkness here seemed denser and heavier than usual.

"A lake?" Sirius frowned, sensing an enchantment in the cave, likely one that prevented Apparition.@@novelbin@@

"No need to go across," Hoare said, looking at Sirius.

Hoare pulled out his wand and waved it in the air.
