Chapter 437: Chapter 326: Prelude to War_2
The Star Torch projection in the sky was releasing dazzling light, which once symbolized hope, but now, it represented nothing but despair. If there wasn’t enough strength to resist the potential appearance of an Alien Race, then the Star Torch would be like Pandora’s box.
A tremendous noise erupted upward, as missiles blazed with tail flames, streaking towards the outskirts of Wushan City.
They fell swiftly like meteors, launching attacks on the Lizardman Tribes, but before even hitting the ground.
Suddenly a massive shockwave was shot into the sky. With a buzzing sound, it spread out, and incredibly ignited more than ten missiles in the air. The flames reddened the sky like a beautiful yet tragic sunset cloud.
Qin Henghu’s face shook, and his gaze quickly darkened. He knew if even missiles could be intercepted so easily, what difference would it make to launch nuclear weapons?
“All Third-order warriors, come with me to the front line, strap nuclear warheads on your backs. The time to test our mettle has come!”
“My Angel Envoy can fly; I’ll go first!”
Yang Chaojian responded loudly, his face flush with color. The Slaughter-winged Bat had already appeared behind him, his eyes full of resolve.
The Third Order Angel Envoy, a single nuclear bomb would be hard to withstand, let alone being strapped with them at close range. This Angel Envoy was doomed to be sacrificed.
“I’ll go too; I can provide cover!”
One after another, the officers stood up, their gazes resolute, for a warrior is for a time of need, not just training. Although they indeed had Talent, without the countless contributions from the people of Wushan Base, they could never have reached this level.
Su Han watched as these men had already mounted their Angel Envoys and headed straight for the battlefield. He couldn’t help but frown slightly.
‘Stubborn bunch, not listening to a single word.’
But he didn’t stop them. Instead, he turned to Tian Limeng, who had not yet departed, and said, “You continue with the charging; hold on for a while, and that’ll be good enough.”
Tian Limeng was in a state of grief and anger, wanting to join his comrades, but since not all spiritualists could be lost in action, he was the seed of survival.
However, Su Han’s words made his face change, and he blurted out, “No, Commander Su, what are you planning to do? General Qin has ordered you must evacuate; as long as you are safe, there is still hope for the south.”
“Stop with all the nonsense.”@@novelbin@@
With a thought from Su Han, the tentacles of the apparition behind him swept up Tian Limeng and brought him to the Star Torch Lamp Tree. Then he guided him to take his place and pour mental energy into the Star Torch.
“If you don’t want your comrades to suffer heavy casualties, hold on. I’ll be right there.”
The Mother Worm began to turn, striding towards the front lines of Wushan City at great speed, but Tian Limeng was caught between a rock and a hard place. Without supplying mental energy, the Star Torch would not complete its charging, and if extinguished, the apparition might disappear, and mist could surge again. The Armed Forces would surely be caught off guard.
But if Su Han entered the battlefield and something unexpected happened, he would be seen as a criminal.
Before he could react, Su Han had already disappeared from sight.
“Damn it, all so headstrong.”
Tian Limeng cursed fiercely, then could only continue with the charging. The enhanced Star Torch required a tremendous amount of energy, and even as a Third Order Contractor, it was indeed not easy to sustain it.
Despite the large size of Su Han’s Mother Worm, it moved with greater speed than Qin Henghu and the others.
Almost chasing down Qin Henghu, who had left earlier, it arrived at the front lines.
The sounds of explosions were nonstop; the entire frontline had become an ocean of artillery fire, with spiritual energy bullets and artillery shells heading towards the Lizardman positions.
Lizardman warriors, wearing special equipment, charged rapidly, and despite many being shot down, they were unbelievably fierce. Some had already arrived at the front, engaging in hand-to-hand combat with the warriors of the Armed Forces.
Sharp claws tore open bellies; many warriors’ Angel Envoys were cruelly killed by the Lizardmen, with severed limbs scattered about.
“Continue the missile bombardment, get the nuclear warheads in position!”
Lone Wolf and his three Angel Envoys rushed into the battlefield; his Wolf Spirit tearing into the bodies of the Second Order Lizardmen, crushing their assault and killing hundreds of them in a short span.
But soon, Third-order Lizardman warriors from the tribes sought out his Angel Envoys. A Priest among the Lizardmen even used spiritual energy to block the Wolf Spirit’s attack.
More and more Lizardmen flooded into the battlefield like a tide. Lone Wolf’s face grew stern as he fought continuously, utilizing more missiles and nuclear bombs at this critical juncture.
The second wave of missiles took off, approaching from more tricky angles, spreading and directing towards the three alien spatial rifts.
“Truly persistent.”
Kola’s eyes held a cold glint, his beast-like pupils becoming even more slender, and with a spread of his scaled hand, another shockwave was cast out.
“Boom”
The missile was directly interrupted by the energy shockwave, exploding in mid-air, sending shockwaves to the ground battlefield that flung many Lizardmen into the air, but it failed to cause more significant casualties.
“Their weapons do indeed have their unique features,”
The one who acted wasn’t just Kola; Aosha swung his black crystal staff, and then a large barrier suddenly appeared in the sky.
The rest of the attacks were intercepted; the hidden nuclear bombs thundered menacingly, and the terrifying shockwave struck immediately, shattering the barrier suddenly.
Aosha’s head throbbed with pain from the psychic shock, the barrier in the sky shattered abruptly, and then countless fires surged out. Although most of the energy dissipated into the sky, the part that hit the ground instantly turned thousands of Lizardmen into charred corpses.
“Kola!”
Fighting against the intense mental agony, Aosha bellowed Kola’s name.
“They’ve hidden special attacks inside conventional weapons, cooperate and strike together, don’t use barriers.”
However, Kola did not respond to Aosha’s anger; he certainly had his own plans and wanted to further test the power of the nuclear bombs, so there had to be a scapegoat.
Now that he had seen the effects, he also understood the principle of these weapons better; as long as the interception was done far enough, they posed virtually no threat to them.
“Release the winged lizards!”
Commander Su, Fourth Grade Asaro, and Neiya immediately understood his idea, casting their gaze over to the leaders beside them.
Several leaders stepped forward and blew a special horn.
A massive swarm of Winged Lizards, with wing spans not exceeding two meters, took to the sky, as dense as mosquitoes.
Each of the three tribes kept a certain number of Winged Lizards, the least amounting to one thousand and five hundred, while the Black Tooth Tribe had as many as three thousand.
As soon as the Winged Lizards took to the sky, everyone was dumbfounded; the missiles could no longer hit the enemy’s main camp.
General Qin had just arrived at the battlefield and immediately witnessed this scene, his heart sinking as if into an abyss.
“Form the vanguard, charge with the warheads!”
Angel Envoy General Qin joined the battlefield directly; his tiger-like eyes authoritative, he continuously issued commands, “Yang Chaojian, strap nuclear bombs to all of your Slaughter-winged Bats, as many as possible, everyone else protect them with your lives, we must blast that swarm to pieces.”
“Yes!”
The Third Order Contractors seeing the Armed Forces suffering heavy losses all wanted to join the fray, but they had to restrain themselves because they had more severe tasks at hand.
On the other end of the battlefield, there were Fourth Grade Lizardmen, and on the small hill above, there were over ten of them.
They stood their ground, watching the Lizardman Tribes fight, ready to defend against nuclear strikes at any moment.
If the plan failed, then it would be time for the Fourth Grade Lizardmen to enter the fray.
“I’ll go,”
Su Han’s voice came through, with the massive body of the Mother Worm appearing behind the Armed Forces’ line.
General Qin’s face changed, “Get out of here quickly; if they find out about your existence, they won’t let you off easily.”
He was right; the fastest way to suppress the human race was to kill off the opponent’s uncontrollable combat force, such as a Fourth Grade like Su Han.
“Keep calm, General Qin,”
Su Han moved and landed beside General Qin, his hand steadying his shoulder.
“Now is not the time for you to sacrifice yourself for the country, nor is it the time for them to die in battle,”
Su Han’s eyes gradually became icy, looking over the battlefield at the Lizardmen, “The ones that should die are them.”
“You…”
Before General Qin could finish his sentence, the Mother Worm erupted with a terrifying screech, sweeping across the battlefield with its psychokinetic power. Tens of thousands of Lizardmen engaged in combat were flung into the air, and those closer were torn to shreds.
Limbs and blood droplets flew through the air, and in an instant, blood rained down.
A giant dragon shadow flashed across the sky, with the blood whirlwind turning into a long river…
Standing behind Su Han, the Insectoid Titan, with its six arms and dual faces resembling a Demon God, thought, and numerous metals levitated in the air, turning into blades aimed directly at the Lizardmen…
What do you think?
