Chapter 2659: Absolute Authority (3)
Yun Lintian's brows furrowed slightly. He was unwilling to accept that he couldn't even harm Yang Xie in the slightest.
Buzz!
The Primordial Azure Dragon's bloodline within him roared as Yun Lintian activated the Imperishable Flame, covering his entire body with a golden flame. He dashed toward Yang Xie once again, his spear thrusting forward with the might of a thousand mountains.
Yang Xie raised his hand, and a wave of chaotic energy surged forth, meeting Yun Lintian's spear head-on.
BOOM!
The collision of energies created a massive explosion, the shockwave rippling through the Abyssal Rift. The space around them cracked and split, and the air was filled with the sound of shattering ice and roaring chaos.
However, the Imperishable Flame was instantly extinguished as if it were nothing in front of Yang Xie.
Yun Lintian was sent flying backward, his body tumbling through the air. He coughed up a mouthful of blood, his face pale, his eyes filled with shock and disbelief.
Yang Xie's expression remained unchanged, his gaze fixed on Yun Lintian.
"You are still too weak," he said, his voice calm but laced with a hint of disappointment. "Your strength is nothing compared to mine. You are like an ant trying to shake a mountain. Your efforts are futile."
Yun Lintian refused to back down. He charged forward once more, his spear a blur of motion, his attacks relentless. He unleashed the full extent of his power, drawing upon the strength of his bloodline, his mastery of the laws, his comprehension of the eight elements.
Yang Xie, however, remained calm. He deflected each attack with ease, his movements fluid and effortless. It was as if he were toying with Yun Lintian, testing his limits without ever revealing his full strength.
"You're persistent, I'll give you that," Yang Xie said, his voice calm but carrying an undeniable weight. "But persistence alone won't be enough to defeat me. Your attacks lack the power to truly challenge me... You better show me what you got. Don't hold back." Yun Lintian's attacks grew increasingly ferocious, his spear a whirlwind of icy energy and primal force. Yet, with every strike, Yang Xie effortlessly deflected him, a hint of amusement playing on his lips.
"Is this all you have, Yun Lintian?" Yang Xie taunted, his voice echoing through the vast expanse of the Abyssal Rift. "I expected more from the seed of fate."
Yun Lintian gritted his teeth, his frustration mounting. He could feel his energy reserves dwindling, his attacks growing weaker. But he refused to give up.@@novelbin@@
As he launched another desperate attack, a sudden thought struck him. Something wasn't right.
Yang Xie's movements were too perfect, his defenses too impenetrable. It was as if he were anticipating Yun Lintian's every move, countering his attacks before they even fully formed.
Yun Lintian's eyes narrowed, his senses heightened. He focused his perception, channeling the power of the Beyond Heaven King's Crown, enhancing his senses beyond their normal limits.
And then he saw it.
A subtle flicker in Yang Xie's form, a momentary distortion in the fabric of reality. It was as if Yang Xie wasn't truly there, as if he were merely a phantom, an illusion.
Yun Lintian's eyes widened in realization. He had been fighting a phantom all along!
He quickly activated the Eyes of Heaven, his golden pupils glowing with an intense light. The world around him seemed to slow down, the chaotic energy of the Abyssal Rift parting before his gaze, revealing the truth behind the illusion.
Yang Xie's form shimmered, his image distorting, his presence fading. He was indeed a phantom, a projection of Yang Xie's true self, a clever illusion designed to test Yun Lintian's strength and resolve.
Yun Lintian's lips curled into a wry smile. He had been so focused on defeating Yang Xie that he had failed to see the obvious. He had been blinded by his own intention of testing his strength against a powerful opponent.
He had fallen for the oldest trick in the book.
"Clever," Yun Lintian muttered, his voice laced with a hint of admiration. "But not clever enough."
He raised his Frostmourne Spear, its icy aura intensifying, its blade gleaming with a cold, sharp light. He focused his power, channeling the energy of the Beyond Heaven King's Crown, enhancing his spear with the combined might of the eight elements.
With a powerful thrust, he launched his attack, his spear piercing through the illusion, shattering the phantom, revealing the empty space behind it.
Yang Xie's voice echoed through the void, his tone laced with surprise and amusement.
"Impressive, Yun Lintian," he said. "You have figured it out faster than I thought. But do not think for a moment that this means you have won. This was merely a test, a prelude to the true battle."
Yun Lintian scanned the surroundings, but he couldn't find anyone. Even Dian Lun and Tian Zhen had disappeared. The endless black space was extremely quiet, with only a few bodies of the Chaos Knights floating around.
"Why don't you show up?" Yun Lintian asked calmly. "What kind of grand protector are you, hiding in the dark all the time?"
"You don't have to taunt me. It's useless," Yang Xie's voice echoed. "I have plenty of ways to toy with you, but my lord doesn't want you to die here. You cannot die before fulfilling your
mission."
Yun Lintian was upset. He hated this kind of enemy the most; it was as if he were facing another Ren Yuan all over again.
"It doesn't matter if you don't want to show up. I also have plenty of ways to deal with you. There should be a lot of Chaos Knights here, right?" Yun Lintian responded calmly.
"Heh. What do those insignificant ants have to do with me? You can kill them as much as you want," Yang Xie's voice echoed with indifference. "But don't you really want to know our true purpose in going to the Primal Chaos?"
"Why? Are you going to tell me?" Yun Lintian's brow rose slightly.
"Hehe. Of course not," Yang Xie laughed humorlessly. "But I can give you a hint. What we have in our hands right now will become a cornerstone for destroying the Primal Chaos in the near future. And you, Yun Lintian, won't be able to stop it."
What do you think?
