Chapter 1485: Prepare to Escape

Sun Bai stood there, momentarily speechless. Frowning, he sighed, then stomped his feet to carry out Shao Yunduan’s orders, organizing the servants.
Taking hold of Qiao Xuan’s arms, Shao Yunduan whispered urgently.
Qiao Xuan was taken aback.
“There’s no time. Tell Ah-Ye to prepare. You’ll charge forward shortly. Sun Bai will arrange cover for you. Don’t worry; I’ll be fine. Sun Bai and the others can protect me. I’ll take Lixia and the rest, but whether they make it out depends on luck…”
Shao Yunduan couldn’t offer guarantees in such dire circumstances.
...
A lump formed in Qiao Xuan’s throat.
Her bond with Lixia and the others ran deep, and she couldn’t leave them behind. But to Shao Yunduan, they were merely servants. Had it not been for him, Shao Yunduan wouldn’t have given them special attention.
Today’s unforeseen event surpassed their expectations. The chances of escape hinged on life itself.
Suddenly, Qiao Xuan had an idea. She held onto Shao Yunduan and said, “Husband, it might not be an enemy; it could be one of us!”
Shao Yunduan was startled.
Quickly, Qiao Xuan smiled and continued, “I don’t believe they’re enemies. They don’t need to approach in two separate groups. If they truly belong to our side, wouldn’t it be better to combine forces and attack simultaneously?”
“Don’t forget, we’re close to Huning City, with numerous garrisons within a hundred miles. Who’s to say?”
Shao Yunduan’s eyes flickered as he began to consider.
Qiao Xuan chuckled. “Shall we make a bet?”
She gazed at him with bright black eyes, a faint smile gracing her red, full lips. The curve of her eyes and the flicker within spoke of her confidence and brightness.
Shao Yunduan couldn’t help but be excited by her words. What she suggested made perfect sense!
With that in mind, he decided to take the gamble.
Even if they lost, there would still be time to escape later!
Having Sun Bai, Sun Qian, and Ah-Ye by their side made the couple’s escape a manageable task.
For the others, escaping now would likely result in heavy casualties, and the outcome wouldn’t differ much if they waited.
On the other hand, if the bet proved correct, there would be no need for anyone to escape, and no harm would befall them.
The gamble seemed too favorable to pass up. @@novelbin@@
Shao Yunduan erupted into laughter. “Alright, let’s take the gamble! You’ve always been lucky, and I trust you!”
Qiao Xuan smiled. “We are both lucky!”
The couple exchanged grins.
Shao Yunduan immediately sought out Sun Bai.
Sun Bai was taken aback by his words, contemplated it, and eventually agreed.
Indeed, the distinction between fighting their way out now or later wasn’t significant. In that case, they decided to wait!
The thunderous sound of horse hooves became deafening as the group of at least 50 to 60 riders approached.
“Blind Shi, is it really you? Why are you here again?”
Although this group consisted of only 50 to 60 cavalrymen, it was evident they were elite. All had arrows notched, aimed at the battlefield where the two sides had ceased their deadly conflict.
Sun Bai, Sun Qian, and the others could now clearly discern that these individuals were from Great Qin. Despite lacking military attire, the bows and arrows were unmistakably of military origin.
What do you think?
