Chapter 307 Problems Faced by the Mingyue Club (Seeking Monthly Tickets at the Beginning of the Month)
Just when Chen Yu embarked on his journey back to China with Jounouchi Hiromi, the Mingyue Society encountered some trouble.
Actually, the emergence of these troubles was to be expected. As a rising force, the Mingyue Society naturally sought to acquire interests of its own. However, interests do not materialize out of thin air; the rise of one power often comes at the expense of another's interests.
For such occurrences, Kyuuzai Ryousen and Tsuchimikado Yoshiharu, the de facto leaders of the Mingyue Society, had long been prepared. After all, establishing a new power in a place like Tokyo was unlikely to happen without encroaching on someone else's piece of the cake.
Even with the emergence of completely new industries, the decline of old industries is an inevitable part of their rise. It's all part of the natural order.
However, clearly, the existing powers are not willing to willingly cede their established interests, and a struggle between the two is inevitable.
As a supercity that has been Japan's largest city for hundreds of years since the Edo Period, Tokyo's complexity stems from more than just official forces. The black and gray existences are deeply intertwined and complicated enough on their own.
As a new Transcendent Organization, the rapid growth of the Mingyue Society was astounding. It quickly rallied a group of influential members to secure its interests above board. Below the surface, the powerful Transcendents of the Mingyue Society were also defending the Society's interests.
But in comparison to the struggle for power above board, which didn't involve bloodshed, the fight behind the scenes was undoubtedly much more cruel.
"This month, the Kanto Kendo Alliance has been increasingly brazen in their provocations against us. I think it's time we taught them a lesson, lest others think the Mingyue Society is weak and easily bullied!" At the internal meeting of the Mingyue Society, a somewhat burly man spoke with indignant anger.

Despite appearing very agitated and angry, his eyes glinted with cunning—it was clear that his show of anger did not reflect his true feelings.
Kyuuzai Ryousen and Tsuchimikado Yoshiharu, seated at the head of the table, glanced at the speaker before turning their gaze to Kojo Kyoko at their side.
The little schemes of the man were transparent to Kyuuzai Ryousen and Tsuchimikado Yoshiharu; however, seeing as he belonged to Kojo Kyoko's faction, they had to consider how to address the issues he raised, especially considering Kojo Kyoko was currently regarded as the Mingyue Society's premier combatant in the public eye.@@novelbin@@
As the Mingyue Society had grown in size, three factions gradually formed within the organization. A part of it fell under Tsuchimikado Yoshiharu and consisted of independent Transcendents, who represented the immediate supernatural forces the Society could mobilize.
Another faction came through Kyuuzai Ryousen's connections with influential politicians and celebrated figures from various fields. Though not Transcendents themselves, they wielded extensive connections and a variety of resources. They constituted an essential financial and resource backbone for the Mingyue Society and were gradually gaining control over Supernatural Powers since joining the Society.
As for the last faction, it comprised various Kenjutsu Schools that joined the Mingyue Society due to Kojo Kyoko.
Most of these Kenjutsu Schools were minor, lacking significant power, and in fact, many Transcendent members, like those from Kojo Kyoko's Family's Muso Itto-ryu, were only composed of the Sect Leader and their family. Their abilities were not impressive, and the schools were struggling to maintain their heritage, with many finding it difficult to even keep their dojos running.
But after joining the Mingyue Society, thanks to the inheritance support provided by Chen Yu, the state of various Kenjutsu Schools quickly improved. Especially with the establishment of the Mingyue Society, many schools received significant financial support, enabling them to renovate their dojos and recruit new disciples, greatly easing their day-to-day struggles.
However, with some dojos having an easier time, naturally, others faced difficulty. Most of the schools that joined the Mingyue Society were from the Kanto Region, and outside of Tokyo, the population in other areas was pitifully sparse. An increase in disciples for one dojo meant a decrease for another.
In the Kanto Region, including Tokyo, the various Kenjutsu Schools were originally part of the Kanto Kendo Alliance. Internal competition for resources within the alliance wasn't anything new, but now some schools had become subordinates of the Mingyue Society and started to compete with the Kendo Alliance for resources, inevitably bringing about dissatisfaction and targeting from the alliance.
And this was precisely the problem that the Mingyue Society was facing now. Faced with the pressure from the Kanto Kendo Alliance, should the Mingyue Society keep the peace, or should they strike back hard?
"During the Lord's absence from China, the affairs of the Mingyue Society were entrusted to the three of us; we naturally cannot tarnish the Lord's reputation," Kojo Kyoko began, her cool voice setting the tone for the handling of this affair.
But just as the rugged man smiled in response to Kojo Kyoko's words, her icy gaze turned directly to him. Her eyes, filled with murderous intent and displeasure, froze his smile and even stalled the movement of his raising hand.
"Everything about the Mingyue Society serves the Lord, not the interests and ambitions of certain individuals," Kyoko stated as she stood up from her seat and walked toward the rugged man. Each step of her footfalls seemed to pound against his chest, making his heart feel as though it was about to burst.
Seeing this, the others immediately fell silent as if struck by winter's chill. Some with good relations to the rugged man wanted to plead on his behalf, but Kyoko's intimidating presence left them unable to utter a word.
"Harboring delusions of using the might of the Mingyue Society for your personal ambitions, do you recognize your sins?" Standing before the rugged man, Kyoko looked at him and questioned him.
Kyoko didn't need to guess to know the man's intentions.
Kenjutsu Schools like these, under the command of the Mingyue Society, were originally small factions struggling to preserve their dwindling legacy, barely maintaining survival; their status within the Kendo Alliance couldn't possibly compare to that of the larger schools.
Originally, everyone was merely scraping by, unable to compete for lack of strength, which was not much of an issue. But when some factions on the brink of collapse gained inheritance through Kyoko's intervention and joined the Mingyue Society, leading to a revival, ambitions inevitably emerged.
Everyone wanted to gain more resources and benefits, but a behemoth like the Kanto Kendo Alliance was obviously not something small factions could provoke; even if they were revived, they had merely evolved from ants that could be crushed effortlessly to bugs that required some effort to crush.
What to do in this situation? Using the power of the Mingyue Society to confront the Kanto Kendo Alliance naturally became the ideal choice for these people.
But these people's calculations were ultimately misguided.
"Spare my life, please!" Finally, the rugged man let out a plea for mercy, but before he could finish his plea, a cold light like that of a crescent moon had already swept across his neck.
What do you think?
