Chapter 614: Chapter 614: A Duel with Disparate Strengths
Qin Youxuan pointed at a distant cherry blossom tree, setting it as the landmark.
“The target is by the small river. Whoever gets there first wins, okay?” Seeing Da Bai’s nod, Qin Youxuan didn’t care if he really understood, and immediately set off running.
After a few steps, she looked back and, sure enough, Da Bai was standing still, watching her.
It wasn’t until Qin Youxuan reached the cherry blossom tree that they had agreed upon, that Da Bai turned to glance at Dan Hanjie, then sprinted after her at his nod of approval.
Despite the two hundred meters’ distance, it only took Da Bai a dozen seconds to catch up with Qin Youxuan, who was running ahead.
“I can’t play anymore, I can’t outrun you, I’m exhausted…”
...
Qin Youxuan looked at Da Bai who had just bolted past her, supported herself against the nearby cherry blossom trees while panting heavily.
Why was she trying to outrun a snow wolf?
She was simply asking for trouble.
Qin Youxuan looked up at the river in front of her and then turned to look for Dan Hanjie.
His towering figure was standing not far behind her.
As their gazes met, Dan Hanjie stepped forward, approaching her.
He took a handkerchief out from his pocket and gently wiped the sweat from her forehead, “Tired?”
“Not tired, just a bit ashamed for losing.”
Qin Youxuan grabbed his hand, playfully sticking her tongue out at Da Bai.
Da Bai immediately barked in response.
“I thought you knew you’d lose.” Dan Hanjie glanced at her flushed face and quirked his lips into a teasing smile.
“o(╯□╰)o…”
Alright, even he noticed she was self-punishing.
Annoyed, Qin Youxuan turned and started walking towards the river, plopped down on the riverside and reached to scoop some water. But her hand was immediately caught.
“Dan Hanjie, I’m only going to touch the water. I’m not going to die.” Before he could say anything, Qin Youxuan defended herself first.
It was always like this when they hung out, with him being utterly cautious. @@novelbin@@
She wasn’t a porcelain doll that would shatter to pieces at a slightest touch.
He was too tense.
“You have a cold constitution.” Dan Hanjie held her hand, enclosing it in his palm, then reply matter-of-factly.
Because she had a cold body type, she wasn’t suitable for eating cold foods.
She shouldn’t touch ice-cold items, including cold water if it wasn’t necessary.
“But I still have to wash my face and brush my teeth. You can’t tell me I can’t touch water now?” Qin Youxuan tried to reason.
“Use hot water.” Dan Hanjie instantly refuted.
“…”
She would have to live in a world filled with hot water from now on.
Qin Youxuan scooted closer to him, signaling him to sit down, then naturally snuggled into his arms.
The cherry blossoms were almost all fallen, leaving only the mid-height branches in the large area, a ground filled with budding grass, unnamed wildflowers…
And a small river running quietly through the forest.
Serene and melodious.
Time seemed to stop here.
“This is the last time you’ll be here with me, can you just let me play a little longer? How about this,” Qin Youxuan grabbed his shirt, negotiating a deal, “if not my hand, I’ll just wash my feet.”
The water here was really clear. It made people want to touch it.
“…”
Last time.
She’d figured it out.
Looking at her expectant face, Dan Hanjie’s eyes flickered, then he nodded.
“Da Bai, come quick! Let’s see who can make the biggest splash.” As soon as she saw his nod of agreement, Qin Youxuan beamed, quickly turning to call Da Bai.
Another match between the two began, with an obviously skewed balance of power.
At first, Da Bai didn’t know what Qin Youxuan wanted to do, he just stared at her, bewildered.
What do you think?
