The car quickly turned around and got on the road.

Heading towards the private villa.

But just as they started, they got caught in a traffic jam.

“Why would there be a jam at this time?”

Qin Youxuan leaned forward to get a glance at the vehicles ahead.

Their bodyguard car was blocked at the next intersection, being separated from them by a street.

Luckily, the jam lasted only a few minutes, and the road was clear again.

Just as they turned off the highway onto the generic national road, the car suddenly made an abrupt stop, blocking them completely.

“What kind of driver is that, stopping the car in such a place!” The driver managed to brake before rear-ending the car in front, glanced at it, and couldn’t help but complain.

“Is there a car breakdown?”

Qin Youxuan glanced at the stopped car in front, furrowing her brows in confusion.

Ning Yanan leaned in closer, taking a second look.

“Misses, you stay in the car, I’ll go check.” The driver opened the car door and walked towards the car in front.

He knocked on the driver’s-side door of the car in front, only to see the window slide down quickly. A second later, a muffled sound was heard.

He saw the driver fall heavily backwards.

Jiang Jinchen was the first to sense something was wrong. He turned around and saw that the bodyguard vehicle that had been following them was gone.

They must have fallen into the trap during the traffic jam, with the bodyguard being led away at the last intersection.

Jiang Jinchen’s eyes darkened, reflecting a dangerous light.

He unbuckled his seat belt, moved to the driver’s seat, started the car, and with lightning speed, shifted into reverse and backed onto the highway.

His swift and smooth actions unfolded in the blink of an eye, catching Qin Youxuan and Ning Yanan by surprise.

Before their car even stopped, another vehicle was coming up behind them.

It stopped right at the exit they had turned off.

He reached under the car seat and sure enough, found a handgun.

After checking the ammo, he gripped it in his hand.

He hit the gas and sped off.

The moment their car started, there was a bizarre noise on the window.

Qin Youxuan and Ning Yanan huddled together. After a few seconds, they raised their heads.

There were numerous terrifying little marks on the tempered glass.

“Jiang Jinchen, be careful!”

Qin Youxuan saw the pursuing car in the rearview mirror, and the sniper rifle sticking out of the window. Her heart clenched.

“Stay down!”

Jiang Jinchen growled as he jerked the steering wheel, moving the car in an S-curve to avoid the sniper shots.

Gunshots echoed behind them continuously, leaving Ning Yanan pale as a sheet.

She watched dully as Qin Youxuan took out her phone.

“The number you have dialed is switched off, please call again later…” The phone mechanically played the automated message, which nearly drove Qin Youxuan to hurl her phone in frustration.

She tried calling Yao again, but the call still wouldn’t go through.

After clenching her teeth, Qin Youxuan finally dialed the number for the private villa.

The call was picked up by the housekeeper.

“We’re on the highway now, our location is…” Qin Youxuan lifted her head, quickly found the road sign, and relayed the location to the housekeeper, “You need to send people here quickly, we can’t hold on much longer.”
