Chapter 263: Chapter 212: The Beast God Temple_1

“Waaaah, my subject!!!”

A little black bat swooped right at Duanmu Huai, latched onto his face, and settled directly on his head.

“Save me! Save me quickly!!”

“Alright, alright, I got it, don’t be in such a hurry…”

He reluctantly reached out to remove the bat clinging to his face, Duanmu Huai muttered with a bitter smile.

The mission to find the secret treasure in the Eternal City was indeed not as easy as Duanmu Huai had imagined. When he arrived at a deeper level following Lani’s map, he discovered a gargantuan subterranean pit. Furthermore, within the pit shone a dazzling starry sky, as if projected in 3D. This immediately reminded Duanmu Huai of Ogis’s previous report, so he immediately contacted Ogis, who indeed was here. And if Duanmu Huai wasn’t mistaken, she was in the Eternal City.

However, Ogis was unable to leave the city and join Duanmu Huai. She said the entire city was sealed, and she couldn’t find a way out. So Duanmu Huai told her to be patient and wait, and that he would find a solution.

Afterwards, Duanmu Huai met with the Werewolf Soldier waiting there, and learned that the Eternal City was sealed by a man named “Ratain.” Only by defeating him and breaking his seal could they restore the Eternal City.

In other words, Duanmu Huai would have to find Ratain and defeat him before he could move on to the Eternal City. Ratain was currently located in Gailied’s Red Lion City. As long as one could enter the Red Lion City, challenge and defeat Ratain, one could proceed to the Eternal City.

Well, no surprises here. Eight out of ten player quests are just like this.

When Duanmu Huai arrived at Gailied, what he saw was a vast expanse of crimson ground. This immediately reminded Duanmu Huai of what Bambi had previously described as her temple’s locale.

Before Duanmu Huai could converse with Bambi through mental induction, a black bat flew over crying and hit Duanmu Huai straight in the face.

Quite a bit of time has passed and Bambi has been in hiding in the temple all this time, poor girl.

At least Ogis and Lorena could move around freely, but Bambi was all alone, hiding in a corner of the temple. She didn’t even dare to move. As one can imagine, the situation was far from ideal.

With the bat leading the way, Duanmu Huai didn’t need to waste time finding his bearings, so he decided to put Ratain aside for now and retrieve his adorable little princess first.

After all, could a gruff old man ever compare to their sweet-talking adorable little one?

All along the way, Bambi has been recounting her experiences to Duanmu Huai.

As soon as she was teleported to the temple, Bambi found a huge figure shrouded in black cloth inside. Initially, Bambi wanted to greet it, but the figure let out a roar and attacked without a word. Scared, Bambi fled, ran out of the temple, only to find a bird-headed creature outside. So Bambi had to slink back into the temple and silently hide in the shadows of the temple’s ceiling, without even daring to take a breath.

Well, just like a bat.

“That damn black figure, it’s really weird. It stays in the temple all the time and won’t come out, constantly muttering something. And it loses its temper unpredictably… it’s so scary!”

Bambi couldn’t speak or move, so the only choice left was to summon a group of bats to scout around on her behalf.

As for the results….. Not many living beings in this place, but there sure are a ton of monsters.

Dogs with heads as big as dinosaurs, nearly hairless crows, and writhing dragons rotting all over… Bambi’s group of bats were almost completely eaten by these monsters, leaving only a few who narrowly escaped the attack and fled to the border.

Poor Bambi’s little heart was by now riddled with holes.

Can’t be helped. After all, Bambi’s consciousness is linked with these bats. Imagine this: you’re flying leisurely in the sky, and suddenly a huge dog’s head springs out from behind you and bites…@@novelbin@@

This experience is certainly not good for the heart.

Duanmu Huai on the other hand, heard about the situation here from the Werewolf Soldier. Gailied wasn’t always like this, but after the Shattered War, the Valkyrie and Ratain had a battle here. The Valkyrie, unable to win, planted a Crimson Corruption on Ratain’s forehead in an act of deceitfulness. Both sides were injured, the Valkyrie fled, while Ratain and Gailied were both infected with Crimson Corruption.

The ground was covered in crimson and all kinds of monstrous creatures were appearing. This was the result of Crimson Corruption. Even Ratain himself was infected, lost his sanity, and is wandering the Shattered Battlefield in a state of neither human nor ghost.

Huh… If this weren’t a World Fragment, Duanmu Huai would suspect that the Valkyrie was either a follower or chosen of the God of Plague.

Dropping biological weapons when you can’t win is really a sleazy move.

Just as Bambi complained, along the way, Duanmu Huai saw various types of mutated creatures. Dogs with heads like Tyrannosaurus Rexes, crows larger than trucks, and, oh… a group of unidentified Long-legged Centipede People.
