Chapter 308: Chapter 244 War Planet_1
After receiving the intelligence from Hitomi, Duanmu Huai once again ordered the fleet to set off, preparing to head to the target location.
Of course, he also informed the others about this.
“So, we’re going to save another invaded planet this time?”
Standing beside Duanmu Huai, Ann’s eyes sparkled. She had been overlooking construction work, but as soon as she heard Duanmu Huai’s message, she immediately handed over her work to others and rushed over. After all, for Ann, the mundane supervisory life was clearly less interesting than the lively battlefield —— of course, given her strength, she was definitely qualified to make such statements.
“Not necessarily.”
“Eh? But didn’t the child receive the information?”
“Don’t give too much thought to the information the Starseer has received.”
Duanmu Huai glanced at Hitomi, who was standing on the bridge, and spoke lightly.
“The way Starseers transmit information to each other is to package the information in their minds, send it into subspace, and then pass it to other Starseers through subspace. However, as I said before, there is no concept of time in subspace. Past, present, and future information converge there. That’s to say, the information that Hitomi received might not necessarily be about something that is currently happening. It could be information from hundreds of years ago, or an unfulfilled prophecy hundreds or thousands of years in the future.”
“Eh…I see…”
“This is really intriguing.”
Sitting by the side, Lani, too, fixed her eyes on the screen in front of her and whispered.
“Even so, we must get to that planet as soon as possible. Usually, Starseers encrypt the information they send and receive. But clearly, the information received by Hitomi wasn’t encrypted, meaning that any existence could have received this information… There might be demons from the subspace who could trace the direction and find their location. By the time that happens, that planet would be doomed even if it doesn’t end.”
As he spoke, Duanmu Huai furrowed his brow. It’s true that Hitomi did not actively receive the information, but the problem is that this means the other party was broadcasting in the public channel which anybody could receive. Since Hitomi has received it, perhaps the demons in subspace also know about it…
Frankly speaking, in Duanmu Huai’s view, this is like someone shouting “I am here” in a forest filled with monsters, as if they are eager to meet their doom.
Fortunately, there are sufficient wastes of information in subspace, looking for useful information in subspace is like looking for a usable credit card at a large garbage landfill — there might actually be one, it is all about whether one can be patient and lucky enough to find it.
By the way, in Duanmu Huai’s view, anyone pursuing omniscience is stupid, which explains why all the players who claim to worship the God of Trickery in the pursuit of omniscience are idiots.
The reason is simple, what’s the point of pursuing all knowledge?
Not to mention anything else, is knowing how dolphins swim, how ants dig holes, or how leeches suck blood useful information for humans? Gossip about a celebrity’s secret marriage, Old Wang next door having an affair, your son not being your own: does this kind of knowledge not seem like a waste of space in the brain ?
Those idiots who shouted, “I want to know everything” and ultimately had their brains blown up might have acquired a majority of pointless intelligence and gossip from various races —— so, any idiot seeking “omniscience” is not a wise man, but a foolish lazy person.
They deserve to be toyed with and then discarded by the God of Trickery. Such utters fools are indeed worthy of such a fate.
“The subspace tunnel has been activated, preparing to head to the destination yo~~”
At that moment, Mia’s ever-so-relaxed voice rang out and in the next moment, everyone saw the screen in front of them turn into countless streams of flowing light, and then shortly after, they appeared in a completely different galaxy.
The entire galaxy was eerie green, with six planets revolving around the sun. Under the glow of the sun, the entire starry sky seemed to be immersed in a poisonous mist.
“I never expected… the starry sky… to be this colour…”
Lani widened her eyes, staring at the starry sky in front of her, murmuring to herself.
“Different galaxies have different situations, some galaxies are even more beautiful than this, and some are more ugly.”
Duanmu Huai had seen many, and didn’t think much of it. He quickly identified the target planet, and then headed towards the fifth planet located within this galaxy.
“Chart a detection course on it, and then display it on the monitor.”
“Very well, Master.”
At Duanmu Huai’s command, Mia also began to manipulate the console. After a moment, the sight of the planet was displayed before everyone’s eyes.
It was a city destroyed by war.
From their outward appearance, there had once been a magnificent civilization on this planet. But now, all that remained on the planet were vast remains of ruined cities. Houses were bombed, and the streets were strewn with corpses and bones. Many cities had obviously been completely abandoned and uninhabited.
“Hmm… the radiation levels are normal, it doesn’t seem to be a nuclear wasteland.”
Duanmu Huai scrutinized the various values given on the screen in front of him, then made a judgement.
“From these marks, it seems that some kind of weapon attacked the ground from the sky, then used high temperature bombing to destroy the city…”
“Is it that thing?”
Curious, Ann pointed to the holographic image of the other side of the planet on the screen. There, she saw hundreds, if not thousands, of satellites orbiting the planet.
“Well, I’m not sure. Normally, satellites are used for communication, but it’s not impossible for them to be space-based weapons…”
With this thought, Duanmu Huai contemplated for a moment, then gave an order.
“Send the Scout Eye to investigate and have them capture a few satellites to bring back, so we can examine the data inside.”
Duanmu Huai’s Tribunal Fleet had already taken shape. Besides the Wan Yi battleship he had captured from the Cabal, his fleet included four Moon Class cruisers and six Cobra-class Missile Destroyers. Although these destroyers were only 1.5 kilometers long and their firepower was average, they excelled in speed and maneuverability. Whenever Duanmu Huai encountered something, he would have these destroyers go ahead and scout first, before deciding what to do next.
After all, he couldn’t always risk exposing his home base.
Soon, one of the destroyers set off on Duanmu Huai’s command. The Night Guard Technicians swiftly captured a few satellites, disassembled them, and analyzed the stored data inside before passing this information on to Duanmu Huai.
Through this intel, Duanmu Huai got a rough idea about what had happened on this planet.
According to the limited information available, this planet indeed experienced a war between two human factions. One side won, and one side lost—there wasn’t much more to say about that. However, shortly after this conflict, a group of mysterious alien creatures emerged from the ground and attacked the humans.
These creatures resembled humans, with burly bodies and immense strength. They also controlled mysterious and terrifying creatures of the earth. Moreover, they even wielded firearms like humans.
Humans referred to these creatures, fittingly, as the Beast Race.
Seeing this, Duanmu Huai was shocked, initially fearing that the Orcs had infiltrated this place. But fortunately, he quickly reasoned that these Beast Race creatures weren’t the same as Orcs. After all, in Duanmu Huai’s understanding, the Orcs didn’t possess any biological technology, nor did they have a penchant for digging underground. And given the Orcs’ rapid reproduction rate, if humans had lost, this planet would’ve long been an Orc stronghold…
Seems like it’s just a case of same name, different species.
In summary, what happened wasn’t particularly noteworthy. During the civil war, the humans were severely wounded, and the Beast Race launched their attacks from underground. Human weapons were virtually useless in the face of this approach as the Beast Race could use their tunnels to bypass human defenses, infiltrating straight into human territory. As a result, the humans quickly faltered. But in their desperation, the humans initiated a space-weapon called the “Hammer of Dawn”. From a near-earth orbit satellite, they fired high-temperature rays, obliterating nearly all of the human cities invaded by the Beast Race.
Well, they did lose a thousand to kill eight hundred of the enemy—an acceptable trade-off. It seems that no matter where they are, the ruthlessness of humanity remains the same.
In conclusion, only one human city remains. The rest have been abandoned, and most of the satellites have lost communication, with no activity recorded. As for the Beast Race, who’d nearly conquered the surface of the planet, they’d also had a significant portion of their combat strength obliterated in the mutually destructive battle. But even so, they still roamed around the planet, seemingly adamant in continuing with their plan to feast on humans.
It needs to be said; the environment on this planet wasn’t much better than the one that had been invaded by demons, but… that’s a good thing, isn’t it?
Looking at this war-torn planet, Duanmu Huai narrowed his eyes. From the data, he noted that the Beast Race on this planet was capable of putting up a good fight, displaying a variety of flexible tactics, and their strength wasn’t weak. They’d make perfect training fodder for his troops. As for them emerging from the ground—what’s the big deal? Wasn’t that kind of attack just a perfect excuse for him to deploy troops for tunnel warfare?
There were plenty of Beasts and only a few humans left, so why not let himself have the satisfaction of a good slaughter here?
With this thought, Duanmu Huai quickly issued an order.
“Mia, immediately notify the Night Guard. Have all the Star Realm Army soldiers ready for battle and prepare for an air-drop assault!”
What do you think?
