Chapter 331: Chapter 262: Let the Flames Purify Everything!_1
Frankly, Ashley had never seen a fight like this before.
“Ahhhhhhhhhh!”
Duanmu Huai roared out, balling his fists and blasting through the weapon-wielding villagers in front of him, shattering them into pieces. Then he reached out and grabbed two of them by their throats, swinging and smashing them into the others. In no time at all, the once ferocious villagers were reduced to heaps of bloody, mangled corpses.
Now, Ashley finally knew where all the blood on Duanmu Huai came from.
“Ugh… Big guy, can’t you… be a little less violent?”
Looking at the scattered brains and crushed bodies around her, Ashley felt queasy and nauseated. She had never seen a corpse, let alone such grotesque and contorted ones.
“To me, eliminating these heretics is the first priority. Nothing else matters.”
Duanmu Huai glanced at Ashley.
“Remember what I told you?”
“Uh…”
Sensing Duanmu Huai’s gaze, Ashley meekly nodded her head.
“Shut up, stick close, and duck for cover when a fight breaks out…”
“That’s right, you can leave if you want, maybe a handsome blond guy will come to protect you.”
“Uh…”
Upon hearing Duanmu Huai’s remark, Ashley’s urge to stomp her foot surged but she dutifully held her tongue, continuing to follow him closely. Ashley had learned her lesson—she focused only on Duanmu Huai’s towering figure, ignoring the slick, soft sensation underfoot.
After breaking through the villagers’ siege yet again and reaching the hill behind the village, a castle appeared in sight. However, at this point, Ashley suddenly started coughing violently.
“Cough, cough, cough!”
“What’s wrong?”
“Ugh…cough, cough… I don’t know… I feel so sick…cough, cough…”
Facing Duanmu Huai’s question, Ashley covered her mouth, but blood still sprayed out from between her fingers. Seeing this, Duanmu Huai raised an eyebrow– if he remembered correctly, the plot involved Ashley being implanted by the cultists with a parasite, right?
Oh, and he had to remove the parasite later… What a hassle…
Well, it’s worth a try.
With that thought, Duanmu Huai frowned, reached out, and hoisted Ashley up by her neck.
“Bi-, big guy, what are you doing?”
Suddenly being attacked by Duanmu Huai, Ashley’s face turned pale. She knew all too well how formidable he was – if he exerted just a bit more force, her head might fall right off her neck!
“Shut up!”
Duanmu Huai glared at Ashley, snorting coldly. The terrifying expression on his face shocked Ashley even more than the sight of the corpses had. She wanted to struggle, to run, but Duanmu Huai’s hand was clamped tightly around her neck. She was rendered completely immobile, her heart pounding like it was about to leap out of her throat.
“Ugh…ah!”
Ashley’s body tensed up. She felt suffocated, tried to inhale deeply, but Duanmu Huai’s fingers were pressing against her chin, forcing her mouth open. Just when she thought she would suffocate, a grotesque, writhing worm crawled out of her mouth. Duanmu Huai reached out, caught the worm, and yanked it out. He released his grip, seeing her drop to the ground.
“Cough, cough, cough!”
With her breath restored, Ashley gasped for fresh air. Before she could rebuke Duanmu Huai’s rudeness, she was staring horrified at the still-wriggling worm held between Duanmu Huai’s fingertips.
“What the hell is this thing?!”
Ashley knew clearly that the worm had just crawled out of her mouth. It wasn’t a small worm – it was just a bit smaller than her palm, looking like a shell-less scorpion. It continued to wriggle and contort itself even after being pulled out of her, shaking and curling its limbs, nauseating to any observer.
“It’s some kind of parasite. The heretical cultists probably injected it into you.”
“A parasite? Oh right, they did inject me with something…”
At Duanmu Huai’s answer, Ashley instinctively reached up to touch her neck. She remembered being injected with something when taken captive. She had been too groggy to notice… But now…
“There aren’t any more worms in my body, right?”
Huddling her body, Ashley felt chills running down her spine. The thought of a swarm of worms ravaging inside one’s body is enough to make anyone squeamish.
What do you think?
