A Demon Lord's Tale: Dungeons, Monster Girls, and Heartwarming Bliss

Rir could deal with butchering his prey, draining the blood, starting a fire, grilling meat, and even doing simple cooking. He was skillful with his claws and mouth, and could even add the right amount of seasoning.

We dealt with the more difficult parts of the process for him, however, and now we could play shogi, chess, and even the Game of Life with Rir.

Plus, he was super smart, so if I didn’t play seriously, I might even lose.

In our house, it was common for owners to lose to their pets, which was in a way a very pathetic situation.

I’ve heard that Mrs. Rir was also good at playing, so I’m sure she would be able to join us someday.

The Fenrirs were truly outstanding. I would try teaching Setsu how to play board games when she got a little older.

“…Mrs. Rir, this is Enne’s favorite. It’s definitely delicious, so please try it.” (Enne)

“Oh, then, I want you to try the meat Shii recommends as well! As for the meat, the tongue is delicious! Tongue with spices!” (Shii)

I’d been thinking lately that Shii’s taste in food was quite sophisticated.

By the way, when it came to meat, my favorite part was the offal. I love motsunabe.

“In that case, I want you to try the big clams I mentioned earlier! Look, I think these are probably pretty good right now!” (Illuna)

The big clams were nicely grilled as well with melted butter and soy sauce…or rather, they’re boiling.

I absolutely loved them, so I always found some when we had a barbecue, and maybe that’s why Illuna really liked them.

Well, there were probably not many people who disliked them. The adults loved them too. It went really well with alcohol!

“What’s up, were you guys talking about your favorite foods?” (Yuki)

“Yeah! You see, I was just telling Mrs. Rir about my favorite dishes. There are many delicious things here, so I wanted her to try them. Setsu, I’ll also introduce you to our favorite foods, since we’re here!” (Illuna)

“Kuuu~?” (Setsu)

“Setsu, look, these are clams! They’re really delicious, so try them!” (Illuna)

It seemed that Setsu and Mrs. Rir also liked the delicious foods that Illuna and the others told them about, and they exchanged conversations like, “It’s delicious, Mom!” and “Right?”

Well, if they liked it, that’s great.

As Lefi said earlier, in my Demon Lord family, we had a barbecue every time something happened — no, even if there was nothing special going on, we just did it when we felt like it.

“Life is barbecue, barbecue is life… This is the truth…” (Illuna)

“Life looks like it’s going to be grilled to a crisp.” (Enne)

“Seems delicious.” (Shii)

“That’s right. Life is like a fire that burns at a barbecue. This fire doesn’t burn that much, though” (Layla)

“Yes, Layla is pretty drunk too. She’s acting more flustered than usual.” (Lefi)

“Haha, then I’ll drink more! Okay, Lefi, cheers!” (Nell)

“Okay, okay, cheers. Here, the meat is grilled. Shall we eat?” (Lefi)

“Eat!” (Everyone)

“Look! Mountain Meat’s Onikudon! Mmm, I’m so happy!” (Shii)

“…Oh, Enne’s also making a meat bowl. She’s also adding some tuna loin and plump shrimp. She calls it a luxury bowl.” (Enne)

“Hmm, you two are so naive! It’s a barbecue, so it would be a waste to fill up on rice! That’s why I will only eat a little bit of white rice and a lot of meat!” (Illuna)

“…Hmm, as expected of a skilled merchant. There is some truth in that opinion.” (Illuna)

“Haha, of course! I’ll prepare as much as you want, even if it’s for a year or two!” (Yuki)

We spent the night on the beach together, illuminated by the barbecue fire.
