Volume 13 Chapter 39: Gala

“Milk?”

“Yes, the milk from these cowtaurs are incredibly nutritious and filling." Just the thought was enough to make him salivate.

“Then I want to take one home," Keith declared

“Say what?!” You want to take one home?

"I own a farm. Milk is an ingredient I need." Chicken and dragon bees. That only gave him eggs and honey.

Milk was a staple on a farm, and he needed one! It was an ingredient needed to create butter and other delicious food. From how much they ate dairy products, Keith would need a cow.

“You own a farm as well?” Erwin laughed, “What do you not have?” This person was becoming more and more like a farmer rather than an adventurer.

Either way, he was eager to help.

“So what do you want me to do?” Hearing how he was going to tame a cow was interesting and intriguing. This might be a first.

"For starters, speaking to one is a good way to form a bond. But they're going to attack me if I do, correct?" That was something he was curious about because, for Eldi, he had to use Aria to instill fear into her; that was the only reason he could get her out of there. Eldi probably would have blasted him if he didn't do so.

“Not going to happen; these guys love to cluster around one another. You go up there, and they would take a swing at you.” Cowtaurs didn't care about what kind of person before them; if they saw them as an enemy, it was game over.

"..." That's not good.

Before Erwin could say something, “Wait a moment, there’s one all by itself!” Keith looked down, and that was when he saw it. There was one lone cow. However,

“Why is it so small?” It was much smaller than the other cowtaurs; instead of the white and black spots, it was a mix of orange and black.

It was comforting in a way. Although, the unusual thing was that it was being shunned by the others.

When it tried to eat some weed for food, the others pushed her away. And when it tried to get water, it was shunned away.

Erwin then tilted his head, “It’s your lucky day; it seems we can steal that one away, and I doubt they would try to chase after us.”

An outlier.

“What’s the matter?" As Erwin talked, Keith's expression eased as a soft one soon appeared; the excitement he once had was nowhere to be found.

“Nothing.” Keith shook his head, "I know of a way to bring it over."

”EH?”

The little cow continued to try to get something to eat.

However, what she got was a shove from the others. She could tell she was not meant to be here. The glances her brethren gave her were clear: not one of us. It was the look of someone who didn’t fit in. She was much smaller than them and didn't have the same appearance. Even her parents ignored her.

“Mooo.” The little cow didn’t say anything else as she slowly waddled away. But that was when she smelled something pleasant. Her nose slowly flared as she continued to waddle over to the area.

“You were right; food does wonders.” Erwin laughed. Good food would always lure people over. In this case, it was a giant cow. The cowtuar stared at the food and the humans that were there.

Keith remained focused on cooking. That was when he asked, "Do you want some?"

“Moo?” It had some semblance of right and wrong as she stared at them waringly. Keith didn’t mind as he placed down her share. That was when he started to eat his own food. Erwin didn’t hesitate to smash his face into it, “What kind of food is this?”

“It’s a simple spinach puree with a heaping of mashed potatoes with butter." It was quite a rich dish. As they ate, the cow stared at the food for a bit before she licked and ate. It was an amazing sight as she ate furiously, stemming from days of eating nothing but scraps. Keith didn’t mind as he passed some more to her. Not only that, but he also had a pot for this adventurer.

“That was amazing, Keith!” Erwin smacked his belly as he stared at the food they had finished. They were now resting and leaned on a tree as their tummies were filled. But as they were doing this,

“Moo.” The cow had nestled into his hand, “No problem. I’m glad that you like it.” A smile formed, “So how about it?”

“Moo?”

“Do you want to come live with me? I have a lot of delicious food you can eat. And I guarantee that it’ll be just as delicious as this.”

“…” Keith could tell the hesitant look as she stared between Keith and her family. But after some time, she decided on,

“Moo!” The cow nudged Keith’s face!

“Good girl, then let’s form a contract.” It was a simple and straightforward contract between the two. It was the same one as Eldi.
