Chapter 110
"Nian, you're here."
Seeing her return to class, Shen Qingtang greeted her with joy.
Ji Nian walked over to her place, opened her backpack, and took out her things, placing them on Shen Qingtang's desk.
"Today's kitchen made strawberry snow-topped milk pudding, which was delicious."
"You have ballet class later, right? I saw that the ballet shoes you ordered arrived, so I brought them for you."
Shen Qingtang exclaimed in surprise, "So fast! It's perfect for today's class. Thank you, Nian."
She grinned.
Actually, with new shoes, Shen Qingtang usually had to break them in before bringing them to the dance studio.
But the fact that Nian took the initiative made her feel valued, and she was very happy.
"I'll be very busy these days, and might even have to go out, so I won't have time to accompany you. If you're bored, go play with Gu Xiuyuan; I’ve already told him."
At seven years old, saying such things might make adults laugh.
But Shen Qingtang didn't think so.
If Nian said she was busy, then she must be doing something very important.
After giving instructions, she handed Shen Qingtang several bottles of new color-changing contact lenses.
She also whispered a few words in her ear.
Shen Qingtang listened and suddenly understood.
"So that’s how you can do it," she quickly nodded.
Afterward, Nian returned to her own seat.
Before she even got close, she saw a large pile of snacks on her desk, causing her to hesitate for a moment.
If it weren’t for the familiar spicy strip scent from her deskmate, she would have thought she had walked into the wrong seat.
"Who put all this here?"
She looked at her deskmate with confusion.
Her deskmate, seeing her back, spoke crisply, "It was Yang Xinyu from Class 5, accompanied by a few others. They placed the snacks on your desk and even bowed toward your seat."
More than a dozen children clasped their hands together and bowed in unison toward Nian’s seat, which stunned the other kids in the class.
Nian was utterly confused. ???
However, the name Yang Xinyu sounded somewhat familiar.
The round-eyed child sitting in front of Nian was eavesdropping. Seeing this, she turned around and said, "They were the students who almost got kidnapped… that time."
This comment jogged Nian's memory.
"But why are they bowing to me?"
Seeing that Nian responded and engaged in conversation, the front-row student became excited and spoke faster: "My best friend is in their class."
"They say that when they drank that magical beverage, which actually contained the bad guys’ poison,"
"They were supposed to be immobile, but a little yellow chicken that looked exactly like you suddenly appeared! It flapped its wings and gave them a big slap, and then they could move again."
"Otherwise, they would have been kidnapped."
Nian’s deskmate widened her eyes and turned to look at her in astonishment: "Wow… no wonder they’re bowing to you. You’re like a chicken god, Nian."
Nian: ???
What kind of chicken god nonsense is this?
I’m not a chicken.
"Chicken god, please accept my bow. Ah, how wonderful, I should roam the vast world~"
Her deskmate began to chant again…
Nian thanked the front-row girl and, knowing that these 'offerings' probably couldn't be returned, handed a bag of snacks to her deskmate.
She seemed very happy to receive snacks from Nian.
After picking out the snacks that Shen Qingtang and Gu Xiuyuan liked, Nian kept the rest for herself.
She had initially thought of distributing them all, but considering that these were the heartfelt intentions of a few children, it didn’t seem right to refuse them, so she decided to keep them.
Nian's school got out early.
She didn’t leave immediately but went to find Chen Mo instead.
Seeing her, Chen Mo opened the door for her, pointed to the sofa, and told her to sit down.
On the black sofa sat an out-of-place pink cartoon pillow, clearly meant for a little girl.
He even had juice here, with pink cups.
In the cabinet, there were even children's pajamas, small blankets, mini fans, hair ties, and slippers, all personally selected by Chen Mo.
"Are you hungry?"
Nian shook her head.
"Uncle, did you get the toxicology report?"
Chen Mo didn’t make her wait, taking a file from his desk and handing it to her.
"It’s all in here."
It had taken Chen Mo quite a bit of effort to obtain this, and he had almost caused suspicion from the other side.
But seeing Nian’s smile, it was all worth it.
"You’re incredible, Uncle! Thank you, Uncle!"
Nian smiled at him.
Great, her father Ji Tingzhou no longer needs to work overtime.
As long as the Young Imperial Grandson gets better, many problems can be resolved.
"Uncle, can I take a look?"
Chen Mo nodded, thinking the child was just curious and didn’t stop her.
Nian acted just that way, initially handling the contents clumsily, pretending to look at them casually, but actually reading quickly with full concentration.
[… Tsk, this is quite troublesome, what even is this mess]
It was less about rejuvenation and more about turning people into monsters.
The Young Imperial Grandson’s condition… was very similar to that of her sister back then.
If only she had held on…
Sighing heavily in her heart, Nian didn’t dwell on it further.
"I don’t really understand…"
She smiled apologetically at Chen Mo.
Chen Mo patted her hair, finding the texture exactly the same as her mother’s; he used to love playing with his sister’s hair when he was a kid.
"You’re still little, Nian, you’ll understand when you grow up."
This was clearly just a line to humor a child but was filled with affection.
Nian: [He called me Nian…]
Having secured the crucial document, Nian carefully placed it in her backpack and said goodbye to Chen Mo.
Chen Mo offered to accompany her to the school gate.
While students had finished class, their teachers were still at work.
As they walked silently to the school gate, Nian suddenly turned her head and said, "Uncle, can I visit you on weekends after my father gets better?"
Chen Mo’s quiet demeanor wavered as his eyelashes fluttered. Looking at Nian again, he smiled.
"Sure, I’ll bring flowers to pick you up."
Nian smiled back: "Don’t bring broccoli, Uncle. My father will be mad."
Chen Mo: Huh?
Wei Yang was squatting beside the car, playing with a string, looping it between his fingers. On his right wrist, a plastic bag held a hot bowl of baked cold noodles.
He had remembered this from Nian mentioning it accidentally, and had bought them before her school ended.
When he saw Nian coming out, he casually threw the string aside.@@novelbin@@
It happened to land on the shiny head of an elderly passerby.
However, upon spotting Chen Mo beside Nian, the smile on Wei Yang’s face instantly vanished.
He glared fiercely at Chen Mo like a fierce dog guarding its master.
The two seemed to have an inexplicable antagonism.
Chen Mo’s expression also cooled, not sparing so much as a glance for Wei Yang as he handed the backpack to Nian.
"Go on, I’ll watch you get in the car."
Nian nodded.
But as soon as she took a step, her backpack fell into Wei Yang’s hands.
Wei Yang glowered at Chen Mo before ushering Nian into the car.
Seeing Wei Yang protectively clutch the backpack, extending his other hand before her to take the baked cold noodles, Nian coughed softly.
"Umm… How’s Left One doing?"
At the mention of business, Wei Yang’s pout vanished instantly and he turned serious.
"Everything’s ready, we’ll be able to leave for Country O soon."
If it were Ji Tingzhou, it might be a bit tricky to visit Country O during this sensitive period.
But if it’s Nian, then things would be smooth sailing.
After all, who would be wary of a seven-year-old girl?
Some might even think Ji Tingzhou is leaving a weakness behind...
What do you think?
