Chapter 18: SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH YOU



"You're only making things harder for yourself," Xaden growled when he had done everything he could, and still couldn't make this woman want him back. He was angry now.

"Let's get it done quickly."

Zuri said the same thing again, and Xaden felt his anger rise. His ego was bruised. He was not a saint, obviously, he had been with many women and none of them were as nonchalant as Zuri. They were very receptive to his touch and showed how enjoyable it was to have his cock inside them.

Even though at first, Xaden didn't mean to hurt Zuri, her callousness rubbed his ego in the wrong way and now he wanted nothing, but to subdue her.

Xaden took a step back and this left Zuri confused. "You are so wrong. It will not be done quickly."

Zuri could see the shift in his eyes, as if something had been awoken and this bothered her. She couldn't slip into her numb state when this strong fear crept into her heart as Xaden gave her a predatory look.

"Xaden?" Zuri furrowed her brows, but suddenly Xaden took a step closer toward her and kissed her so hard. He lifted her up and carried her out of the water swiftly.

Zuri yelped, she felt the air knocked out of her lungs when her back hit the ground. He didn't throw her, but obviously, he didn't lay her down gently either.

The girl didn't even have time to take a breath when his mouth covered hers again. His kiss was ferocious this time.

"You asked for this, Zuri," he bit into her mouth.

She did not feel turned on when Xaden tried to stimulate her gently earlier, thus he thought a little bit of roughness would be necessary.

"Relax, Zuri, relax. Just focus on my touch." Xaden's voice was gentle again.

And Zuri wanted nothing but to enjoy this. She tried to relax her muscles and focus on his touch, but she couldn't. He rushed things and Zuri couldn't enjoy it. He expected her to be soaking with a few kisses and touches, but Zuri couldn't, her body didn't want that.

It felt so wrong, his touches were wrong.

Xaden growled, he flipped her body and lifted her hips before he thrusted into her when all his attempts failed. He didn't want to see her face. He refused to acknowledge that she didn't enjoy this.

And when he was finished. Zuri was bleeding again and Xaden grimaced. He gritted his teeth when he stood up and went to the river. He grabbed his shirt and dipped it into the water, wrung it and went back to her.

He dabbed the wet shirt against her core, and she winced. The deed was done and the sky started to turn bright.

"I think there is something wrong with you," Xaden said. He cleaned up the blood from between her legs and flipped her onto her back. Their eyes met and Xaden saw the stubborn tears welling up in her eyes. Even though it was painful, she didn't make a sound at all. "How could your body not respond to my touch?" He looked confused by his own question.

"I don't know." Zuri didn't want to think about it. The deed was done and she hoped it would work, because she hated sex.

"Something is really wrong with you," Xaden said, more to himself. "I have never put this much effort when I was with someone else. Something is not right with you."

He blamed her for the lack of pleasure on her part, because there was no way he couldn't make a woman go crazy with his touch. Women in this pack would line up if he wanted to sleep with them. They would get their climax and moan his name with a single touch or kiss.

However, Zuri didn't have any reaction.

"I think you are right, there is something wrong with me." Zuri pushed herself from the ground and walked toward her dress, she put it on and Xaden followed.

"You got your climax on the first night we mated." Xaden didn't drop the topic and Zuri had enough, she turned around and looked at him coldly.

"It was probably because, at that time, I thought I was attracted to you, but after you left me for a month, any attraction I had was gone. We are no longer mates, remember?" Zuri pointed at her neck, where her mark had faded after the rejection.

Xaden wanted to say something again, but Zuri had shifted into her beast and rushed into the woods, leaving the alpha standing there alone. He glanced at the blood on the grass.

He knew Zuri was not an easy woman, but her attitude made it more challenging for Xaden.

A few days later, they entered the palace.

The two of them sat inside the carriage, opposite to one another. Ever since what happened in the woods, they had never talked about it again and Zuri heard about Xaden visiting brothels

She couldn't care less about that.

"You look beautiful," Xaden said all of a sudden before they arrived at the palace. Zuri was wearing the red dress that he bought for her. It showed off her collarbones and her curves, but she lost some weight in the past few weeks, thus the dress didn't perfectly hug her body.

"Thank you." Zuri nodded politely.

And when they arrived at the palace, the royal beta approached them. He guided them toward the garden where the king and the queen were already there, but there was another person

with them.

Xaden clenched his jaw when he saw his half brother was also there.
