A random pokemon journey

Historical relevance

Oreburgh was a mining town originally but grew into a mining city over time and the design and feel of the place showed that. The "road" was more like a bunch of stones cobbled together in a grey path that sat counter to the exposed brown dirt literally everywhere else. Most of the buildings were made of metal that had likely been extracted from the ground here and the inhabitants clearly took pride in their mining history with how raw the place looked, like an old strip mine. -

Interestingly enough the actual mine in the city was still active and perpetually excavated for resources and treasure. I walked down the cobbled street until I came across that oh so familiar red metal roofed building, the pokecenter. As promised I entered the building and found myself a seat to wait for Cynthia to show up. While I waited I set Hades keystone on the table and took out my calligraphy set as well as some paper to practice both my writing and Unknown runes skills simultaneously. My practice was simply writing down the entire Unknown runic alphabet in order over and over again while carefully correcting any mistakes I spotted in my previous attempt.-

"Unknown runes? Not something you see someone writing very often, dangerous as well." I heard Cynthia say as she walked up. I finished the rune I was on and set the paper down to dry before cleaning my brush and putting it away for later. "I like to dabble in a great deal of fields that many would find surprising. I doubt that is why you had someone waiting for me though." I said casually as I turned to face her. She was wearing her black fur coat and black pants and training shoes while her hair was held behind her ears but otherwise freely flowed.-

She smiled and preened under my approving examination of her before taking a seat across from me. "As it happens this is indeed the reason I had the Jenny clan keeping an eye out for you. I was unaware that you seemed to have a better understanding of history than most until Rowan brought it to my attention. Do you truly believe that the leader of team galactic is attempting to replicate the ancient hero's path for the wrong reasons?" she asked and I shrugged.-

"Can't prove it but it is the most fitting theory given the actions the team has taken. Rowan has placed the lakes under protection by now as well I assume." I said and she nodded. "As much as I wish it to be untrue the theory does fit with the activities we have recorded of the team. It hasn't been made public knowledge but all three of the lakes said to have those spirits within them has been given extra protection as well as first response status in case it's not enough to deter the team from bothering them. What I am curious about however is just how much you didn't tell Rowan." she said seriously.

"I haven't the foggiest clue what you mean. Last I checked I gave him all the information I had on the topic that was of relevance." I lied smoothly. "I don't believe you." she said bluntly with a frown. "Even I only know the names of the rulers of space and time because of my numerous archeological digs and while the information does indeed exist on the pokenet I find your sureness of the validity of your information suspicious." she continued seriously. -

I smirked "It's not well known for good reason but this." I said tapping my eye patch "Came from the sky lord himself so you could say I have a bit more faith in the tales of those beings than most." I said calmly. This seemed to astonish her as her eyes widened and a look of understanding crossed her face as her mind jumped to the conclusion I guided it to. A bit manipulative sure but there was no way in hell I was going to spill my otherworldly knowledge as what it was. I'd rather make her and everyone else merely think I was more devout in my faith of the old tales instead even if it's not a great look.-@@novelbin@@

"I see. You don't strike me as the sort to worship those godly pokemon but I can understand why you might given what you have just told me." she said relaxing visibly. I shook my head "It's not worship, just acceptance that the stories likely aren't exaggerations no matter how outlandish they may seem." I corrected and she nodded before getting a greedy look. "You seem to know how to write Unknown runes without causing chaos, what's the story there?" she asked curiously.-

"A lucky break on my part when I was in Orre researching the history of the region. I went back through time thanks to a particularly cheeky Celebi and happened to make some gains while i was there." I mixed lies and the truth fluidly. Her eyes lit up "You saw how the ancients in the region lived!? What was it like? How did they...?" she bombarded me with questions eager to know of the past I had experienced. I didn't lie about most of my time in the past and shared my experiences with her while also showing her the ancient set of clothes I had from that time.-

By the time I was done with my story she was in an exceptionally good mood and had a whole mess of notes that she had somehow taken during this time. She admitted to wanting to stay a bit longer for another turn in the sheets but had to get back to her work as being the champion left her busy like nobodies business. This little chat of ours was only possible because it was related to the actions of team Galactic and the fate of the whole world so there was a bit of leeway here.-

While I certainly didn't appreciate her coming to grill me like this I understood why she felt the need to do it. I had indeed not given all that great a reason for why I knew the things I did but since I was trying to help a bit of good will I deserved in my opinion. The funny part was that it wasn't even like she actually got to learn the truth of the matter in the end anyways since I lied through my teeth about it with only the beneficial smidgens of truths mixed in.
