A Record of a Mortal's Journey to Immortality: Immortal Realm

Chapter 1221: Fierce Battle

Chapter 1221: Fierce Battle

On the semi-circular stone platform, Zhao Yuanlai's mouth was slightly agape in astonishment, while Zhou Xianyang took an uneasy glance at the five figures at the center of the platform, fearing that Daoist Master Chun Jun and the others would be able to see through Han Li's disguise.

The attention of Daoist Master Chun Jun and the others had indeed been drawn to the second platform by the commotion from Han Li's battle, and Immortal Envoy Feng Tian praised, "Those two are both quite impressive."

Lu Chuanfeng nodded in agreement with a smile on his face, while Daoist Master Chun Jun chimed in in agreement, "One is a Profound Immortal, while the other has mastered the laws of gravity. This is going to be a fiery matchup."

Even the snoozing Immortal Lord Heavenly Star had opened his eyes up wide to stare at Han Li and Chu Zhong, pondering if he should recruit their sects into the Sun Moon Alliance.

On the second platform, the black and white light gradually subsided to reveal the two combatants, but all of a sudden, both of them transformed into a pair of blurs.

The surrounding spectators looked on in awe as their eyes rapidly darted back and forth, desperately trying to track Han Li and Chu Zhong.

All of a sudden, a loud thump rang out as Han Li sprang up into the air, then swooped down from above before throwing a punch downward.

A pillar of white light erupted out of his fist before crashing down upon Chu Zhong down below, while the latter hunched himself over even further before launching himself up into the air.

A strange symbol appeared on his forehead, following which a layer of metallic, black light emerged over its surface, and he rushed headfirst toward the descending pillar of light, making no effort to take any evasive measures.

A string of resounding booms rang out incessantly as hundreds of profound acupoints lit up over Chu Zhong's body, and only then did Han Li come to realize that his opponent was also a Profound Immortal.

The pillar of white light between the two of them was rapidly shrinking, as was the distance between them, and it didn't take long before a fierce clash ensued.

The surrounding world's origin qi trembled violently as the combatants collided before separating again, sending an enormous cloud of dust rising up into the air.

Before the dust had a chance to settle, a black light barrier emerged to encompass the entire platform, and a black mountain that looked as if it had come straight out of an ink wash painting appeared high up in the sky.

Rays of black light began to cascade down upon the entire platform, and all of a sudden, the entire space had become incredibly heavy.

The dust that was still lingering in the air was instantly forced back down to the ground by the increased gravitational force, while Han Li also stumbled involuntarily under the immense pressure.

The section of the stone platform beneath his feet was instantly shattered and reduced to a pile of rubble, and a hint of schadenfreude appeared in Zhao Yuanlai's eyes upon seeing this as he remarked, "Not only is Chu Zhong a powerful Profound Immortal in his own right, he's also attained a formidable Creation Tier spirit domain. Looks like this is truly the end of the road for Fellow Daoist Chang."

"Let's not jump to premature conclusions, Mountain Master Zhao," Zhou Xianyang said.

He wasn't aware of the extent of Han Li's powers, but he knew that the latter was certainly no slouch. However, he was severely handicapped by the fact that he had to keep his own identity a secret, so there was definitely a chance that Chu Zhong could be too formidable an opponent for him to overcome.@@novelbin@@

At this point, the other battles were also beginning to reach their climaxes, eliciting a chorus of thunderous cheers from the spectators on the plaza, but the majority of the spectators still had their attention fixed on the second platform.

Han Li attempted to raise a leg, but the surrounding gravitational force had been increased by at least a hundredfold, making even such a small gesture incredibly difficult.

"Fellow Daoist Chang, you'll stand no chance against me if you don't also release your spirit domain," Chu Zhong declared as he hovered in mid-air with his arms hanging down in front of him.

"Please don't misunderstand, Fellow Daoist Chu. I'm not trying to show off or anything, it's just that I've been solely dedicated to the cultivation of my body and have never dabbled with spirit domains," Han Li said.

"In that case, I suggest you surrender before you get hurt," Chu Zhong said as he made a hand seal before thrusting his palms downward, and the ink wash mountain in the sky instantly descended by over a hundred feet.

The surrounding gravitational force was instantly enhanced by at least another tenfold, and even with his tremendous physical constitution, Han Li was beginning to feel immense physical strain.

His joints were creaking and groaning audibly, and in a display of defiance, he let loose a loud roar as he clenched his fists tightly.

Over nine hundred profound acupoints lit up over his body in rapid succession, and his True Extreme Film also began to glow radiantly, releasing a burst of starpower to force back the surrounding rays of black light, forming what was akin to a miniature spirit domain around him.

Immediately thereafter, bursts of formidable starpower erupted out of the profound acupoints on his legs, propelling him up into the heavens toward Chu Zhong.

The propulsion force erupting out of the profound acupoints on his legs was nothing to scoff at, but his speed was severely limited by Chu Zhong's gravitational law powers, slowing him down to a crawl.

"You're still not going to give up?" Chu Zhong scoffed as he swooped down from above while making a rapid string of hand seals, and the ink wash mountain behind him instantly began to tremble violently as an avalanche of giant, black rocks came tumbling down from it.

The torrential barrage of black rocks came crashing down upon Han Li, but not only was he not forced back down by the ferocious barrage, he was pulverizing all of the oncoming rocks with his fists as he continued to force his way upward like a radiant, white arrow.

A resounding boom rang out as another giant, black rock was smashed to bits, only to reveal Chu Zhong behind it.

Chu Zhong raised a fist, and rays of black light surged out of the profound acupoints on his arm, following which he threw a punch at Han Li's chest with such incredible power that spatial rifts were opening up in the space beneath his fist.

Han Li was caught completely off guard and could only cross his arms to form a protective barrier in front of himself.

Right as Chu Zhong's fist struck his crossed arms, he channeled his Xuanwu bloodline, and a series of black, turtle-shell-like patterns appeared over his arms.

An earth-shattering boom rang out as Han Li was sent crashing down from above like a meteorite, crashing through countless black rocks before plummeting to the ground.

The platform below had already been reduced to ruins, and a massive crater that was over a thousand feet deep was instantly smashed into the ground beneath it, sending massive cracks spreading through the other nearby platforms.

Several Nine Origins Temple cultivators instantly flew onto the scene to prevent the eruption of power from spreading any further so that it didn't interfere with the other battles.

A chorus of loud cheers rang out as the riveting battle sent a wave of excitement sweeping through the crowd of spectators.

On the semi-circular stone platform, Zhou Xianyang was peering into the crater with an anxious expression.

"Do you still think I was jumping to a premature conclusion now, Sect Leader Zhou?" Zhao Yuanlai chuckled.

At the center of the platform, Lu Chuanfeng's brows were furrowed slightly in befuddlement as he asked, "Did any of you notice that the elder from the Prominent Mountain Sect seems to possess the bloodline of the true spirit Xuanwu in his body?"

"It doesn't seem to be very pure. Otherwise, he would've been able to withstand that attack," Immortal Lord Heavenly Star remarked in a wistful manner, while Daoist Master Chun Jun nodded in agreement.

As for Immortal Envoy Feng Tian, his attention had already drifted to other platforms.

In his eyes, the battle on the second platform had already been decided, so it required no further attention.

Right as he looked away to direct his gaze elsewhere, the ink wash mountain in the sky abruptly shrank down before plummeting rapidly from above, plunging straight into the giant crater down below.

The entire platform shuddered violently before falling still again, and Chu Zhong was standing atop the mountain summit in a victorious manner.

The spectators erupted into thunderous cheers once again, while the officiating elder from the Nine Origins Temple flew up into the air in preparation to announce Chu Zhong's victory.

However, right at this moment, the ink wash mountain that had sunken into the ground abruptly shuddered violently, and a burst of dazzling, white light spilled out from beneath it to illuminate the entire heavens.

Immediately thereafter, the entire plaza began to tremble, and the ink wash mountain slowly rose up bit by bit.

Everyone looked on with stunned expressions to discover Han Li rising up into the air with his palms pressed against the underside of the mountain, and the number of profound acupoints that had lit up over his body had exceeded one thousand.

Zhao Yuanlai's jaw instantly dropped to the ground in astonishment upon seeing this, while Zhou Xianyang put on a calm facade to mask his own bewilderment, doing his best to make it appear as if he had already anticipated this.

A wave of cheers louder than any of the previous ones rang out over the entire plaza, while Chu Zhong hurriedly crouched down to press his hands against the ink wash mountain, injecting his immortal spiritual power and law powers into it simultaneously.

The black light emanating from the mountain became even brighter than before, while its weight also drastically increased, allowing it to force its way back down again.

However, Han Li had already anticipated this, and he channeled his Titan Vajra Arts before throwing a punch to the left.

A burst of incredibly formidable starpower and bloodline power erupted out of his fist, piercing through space to create a vacuum passageway that was free from the interference of Chu Zhong's law powers.

Han Li darted straight through the passageway, then swiveled around before throwing a punch at Chu Zhong, and in the blink of an eye, he had arrived atop the mountain, then joined his middle and index fingers before thrusting them toward Chu Zhong.
