A Record of a Mortal's Journey to Immortality: Immortal Realm

Chapter 1262: Back Against the Wall

Chapter 1262: Back Against the Wall

A sharp clang rang out as a streak of yellow swordlight erupted out of the giant sword, and it split up into two streaks of sword qi, one of which rose up into the air, while the other descended toward the ground.

The clouds up above were parted amid a burst of thunderous rumbling, and they surged to either side in a frenzy to create an enormous rift that was hundreds of kilometers wide, making it appear as if the entire sky had been sliced into two.

At the same time, the other streak of sword qi crashed down from the heavens to split the entire Jade Flagon Peak into two, leaving a bottomless trench running right down its center.

Han Li was situated at the deepest point of the trench, having fallen all the way into the underground cave cellar.

Countless jars of wine that had been stored in the cellar for countless years had been smashed open, and a rich, wine aroma wafted up into the air, making it seem as if the entire Jade Flagon Peak was a massive wine flagon that had been shattered.

Han Li was laying on the ground amid the wreckage in a spreadeagled pose, and his entire body was drenched in wine.

He struggled into a seated position as a sense of powerlessness welled up in his heart. A cultivator of Yue Qing's caliber was simply far too powerful for him to contend with, and even an escape was looking completely out of reach.

He had already attempted to call out to the vial spirit, but just like before, he received no response.

Right at this moment, a burst of tremendous pressure suddenly came crashing down as a vast expanse of yellow light filled the entire heavens.

Han Li looked up into the sky from the bottom of the chasm, and all he could see was a massive vortex of yellow clouds swirling up above, with the occasional flash of lightning visible within it.

With a sweep of his sleeve, thirty-six Azure Bamboo Cloudswarm Swords came flying out to surround him.

A resounding thunderclap rang out up above, and it was as if the entire sky had been blown open.

A rift abruptly appeared in the vortex of swirling yellow clouds in the heavens, and an incredibly thick pillar of yellow light came crashing down directly upon Han Li.

Han Li gritted his teeth tightly as he made a hand seal, and his thirty-six Azure Bamboo Cloudswarm Swords quickly formed a protective circle around him.

Immediately thereafter, he let loose a low roar, and countless arcs of golden lightning sprang out of the Azure Bamboo Cloudswarm Swords in a frenzy, then came together to form a massive, golden wyrm that rose straight up into the air.

Han Li was situated within the body of the golden wyrm, enveloped by swordlight and sword qi as he crashed directly into the pillar of yellow light.

A string of deafening booms rang out as the pillar of yellow light was progressively torn apart by the golden wyrm, and Han Li was rising up higher and higher.

Before long, he had emerged from the chasm in the Jade Flagon Peak, and he looked up to discover Yue Qing standing up in the heavens with his giant sword, looking down with the cold detachment of an almighty deity.

Meanwhile, Jin Tong had already revealed her true Gold Devouring Immortal form, but she was currently trapped in a cage formed by the countless strands of Wuhu's horsetail whisk, and it didn't appear as if she would be able to free herself anytime soon.

In contrast, Xiaobai was going from strength to strength, perhaps because he was acclimating himself to his newly attained bloodline power as the battle wore on, and he had just devoured a blade of wind released by Pofeng's immortal sword.

Immediately thereafter, he opened his mouth again to send the same blade of wind hurtling back at Pofeng.

Both of them appeared safe for the moment, whereas Han Li was in a much more dire situation.

At his current cultivation base, he was still far from being able to match a late-Great Encompassment cultivator in battle.

Han Li heaved a forlorn, internal sigh at his current situation. Even if he could summon the vial spirit to transmigrate himself out of this pickle, he couldn't just abandon Jin Tong and Xiaobai to save himself.

Hence, he had no choice but to stand and fight.

With that in mind, a resolute look appeared in his eyes as he snapped his fingers, and the time law powers in his body surged forth in a frenzy.

All of a sudden, a lush mountain range appeared over the destroyed Jade Flagon Peak, and a river was flowing through it like a jade belt.

A hint of surprise flashed through Yue Qing's eyes upon seeing this.

"Given your relatively short cultivation career, it's already quite remarkable that you've been able to reach the early-Great Encompassment Stage, yet you've managed to attain a Oneness Tier spirit domain as well?" Yue Qing exclaimed.

His astonishment was very much warranted, given that both cultivation and the refinement of spirit domains were extremely time-consuming processes, it was extremely rare to see someone like Han Li, who had been able to make such extraordinary progress in both without either one lagging behind.

Right at this moment, the Mantra Treasured Axis rose up from the clouds behind him like a bright moon, and the golden light radiating from it instantly washed over Yue Qing's entire body.

In the blink of an eye, it was as if the surrounding space had been completely frozen, and even with Yue Qing's immense cultivation base, he was struck by a sense of asphyxiation.

I was too careless!

The thought had only just arisen in his mind when he discovered that even his thoughts seemed to have slowed down.

He hurriedly channeled his cultivation arts, and a ball of earthy, yellow light emerged over his chest, while his armor also began to glow radiantly, releasing formidable law powers to clash against the surrounding rays of golden light.

Even though that wasn't enough for him to immediately break free, at the very least, his thoughts were no longer impeded.

Pouncing on this opportunity, Han Li made a string of hand seals, and countless streaks of sword qi emerged beneath his feet, forming a vast torrent that elevated him up into the sky to face Yue Qing from afar.

From there, Han Li switched to a different hand seal, and the thirty-six Azure Bamboo Cloudswarm Swords down below instantly dispersed, spreading out around him like soldiers springing into formation.

The sound of sizzling electricity rang out as all of the swords swiveled around so that their tips were pointing up the heavens, and thirty-six incredibly thick pillars of lightning erupted into the heavens.

The pillars of golden lightning surged into the clouds beneath Han Li, which immediately began to churn violently like a pot of boiling water, and lightning was flashing incessantly within them.

At the same time, countless clouds were materializing out of thin air around Han Li before converging toward him to form a massive, golden cloud, and it stood in opposition to the yellow cloud around Yue Qing, with each one taking up half of the sky.

A pair of enormous, golden pillars emerged within the golden lightning cloud, and situated between them were two gargantuan, golden gates.

Han Li was standing outside the golden gates with his entire body basked in golden lightning, giving him the appearance of a golden deity tasked with guarding the heavenly gates.

All of a sudden, he joined his palms together in front of his own chest before raising his hands high above his head, and a burst of thunderous rumbling rang out as the golden gates behind him opened inward just a sliver to reveal a boundless sea of golden lightning inside.

In contrast with the last time these heavenly gates were opened, there was no vast outpouring of lightning. Instead, numerous fist-sized balls of golden lightning had taken shape above the sea of lightning.

These balls of lightning then drifted out of the opening between the pair of heavenly gates one after another, but instead of hurtling toward Yue Qing, all of them vanished into the center of Han Li's joined palms.

Before long, seven or eight balls of lightning had flown into the palms of his hands, and an irrepressible lightning aura was beginning to seep out from within.

As more and more balls of golden lightning entered the palms of Han Li's hands, rays of golden light began to spill out, and his face became more and more twisted with pain.

This is... a rather strange Almighty Sword Array...

Yue Qing was immediately able to identify Han Li's sword array, but at the same time, a hint of befuddlement had appeared in his eyes.

In the next instant, a sense of foreboding suddenly welled up in his heart, and he let loose a thunderous roar, upon which a series of golden runes emerged over his suit of armor to force back the rays of restrictive golden light around him.

Immediately thereafter, he grabbed onto the hilt of his sword with both hands before raising it in a slightly slow and arduous fashion.

In spite of the debilitating effects of Han Li's time law powers, Yue Qing took a step forward, striding toward Han Li while dragging his giant sword along by his side.

Images of seven misty mountains appeared over the blade of his sword one after another, and they were extremely vivid and lifelike.

At the same time, his aura began to become extremely heavy, and the yellow cloud around him began to rapidly shrink, forming a projection of a misty, yellow mountain behind him.

All the while, Han Li merely looked on with a cold expression.

Right at this moment, he brought his joined palms apart, and the golden lightning that had been suppressed between them for all this time was finally freed, forming a lightning longsword that fell into his grasp.

Han Li let loose a thunderous roar as he swung the sword viciously downward with both hands, unleashing a giant sword projection that was over ten thousand feet in length before sending it crashing down upon Yue Qing.

In response, Yue Qing slashed his giant sword upward, and a series of enormous mountain projections appeared out of thin air before crashing toward the golden sword projection crashing down from above.

The first mountain projection was shattered upon impact without being able to pose any resistance, and it was quickly followed by the second one.

Immediately thereafter, the third and fourth mountains were also completely pulverized.

A massive trench was sliced down the center of the fifth mountain, splitting it into two in a scene reminiscent of the fate suffered by the Jade Flagon Peak, but the golden sword projection was only able to cleave through the peak of the sixth mountain before its momentum was completely halted, and it became lodged in the sixth mountain.

The seventh mountain continued to rise up before crashing into the underside of the sixth mountain, and the force of the impact was transmitted into the golden sword projection, causing it to shatter into countless pieces.
