Chapter 1323: Revisiting the Giant Eye
"The Gray Realm wants to take a steady approach and establish a foundation in preparation for future expansion. As for the Heavenly Court, on one hand, it wants to keep up appearances to ensure that the Bodhi Banquet is held smoothly, and on the other hand, it wants to focus most of its power on dealing with the Reincarnation Palace," Han Li explained.
"It's always those at the bottom of the pecking order who suffer the most," Violet Spirit sighed.
"Let's go, we don't have much time," Han Li said, and the two of them departed from the Ancient Cloud Continent to travel to the Primordial Wave Continent.
As the two of them traveled over the sea, the seawater gradually became darker and darker in color, gradually turning from the initial bright blue to a blackish-purple color.
At the same time, blankets of dark clouds had begun to appear in the sky at extremely low altitudes, hanging at only no more than six hundred to seven hundred feet above the surface of the sea.
At this moment, gusts of howling wind were blowing over the sea, raising giant waves that rose up to meet the dark clouds above.
Bursts of thunderous rumbling rang out as incredibly thick bolts of lightning flashed within the dense clouds, with the occasional one crashing down onto the sea below to momentarily illuminate the darkness.
Even before entering the lightning sea, Han Li was already able to feel the destructive aura of the lightning up ahead, and even the gray mist released by the Gray Realm didn't dare to encroach upon this area.
"It's going to get a little dangerous from here, so wait for me in the Flower Branch domain," Han Li said to Violet Spirit, and the latter duly obliged.
After Violet Spirit entered the Flower Branch domain, Han Li swept a sleeve through the air to summon his seventy-two Azure Bamboo Cloudswarm Swords, then jumped onto one of them, using it as a vessel to carry him through the air.The other seventy-one Azure Bamboo Cloudswarm Swords circled around him incessantly, forming a protective sword array.
As soon as Han Li flew into the lightning sea, a giant bolt of purple lightning came crashing down upon him, only to be intercepted by an Azure Bamboo Cloudswarm Sword.
A metallic ringing sound rang out as the lightning struck the flying sword, as if the latter were crying out in pain, and arcs of purple lightning erupted in all directions.
As opposed to accelerating after that initial lightning strike, Han Li slowed down significantly, and a bolt of purple lightning came crashing down upon him around once every one thousand feet.
His Azure Bamboo Cloudswarm Swords took turns shielding him from the purple lightning, and as time passed, a series of fine lightning patterns began to appear over the swords from the repeated lightning strikes.
This was a very encouraging sight for Han Li, and as he advanced deeper, the lightning strikes became more powerful and frequent, as azure, purple, golden, and silver lightning came crashing down upon him in a haphazard fashion.
As opposing to withstanding the lightning strikes one by one, the Azure Bamboo Cloudswarm Swords had surrounded Han Li to form a protective barrier that kept the ferocious barrage of lightning at bay.
Close to a month flew by in a flash, and during this time, Han Li was swept up in several extremely fearsome lightning storms, but he was able to make it through unscathed without much trouble each time.
In the process, his seventy-two Azure Bamboo Cloudswarm Swords were also becoming more and more powerful.
Right at this moment, several hundred bolts of golden lightning came crashing down in unison, forming a golden lightning waterfall.
All of the Azure Bamboo Cloudswarm Swords flew forward before connecting with one another end to end to form an arched bridge directly above Han Li.
The golden lightning waterfall crashed down onto the arched bridge with an almighty boom, and countless arcs of golden lightning erupted forth in all directions.
All of the Azure Bamboo Cloudswarm Swords were riddled with lightning patterns that resembled cracks, and the lightning law powers within were becoming more and more vast and natural, to the point that they were beginning to resemble Essential Immortal Treasures like the Profound Heavenly Spiritslash Sword rather than Acquired Immortal Treasures.
Han Li was standing beneath the sword bridge, looking calmly ahead through the spraying electricity.
All of a sudden, a massive, black hole appeared up ahead without any warning, and within it was an indistinct shadow.
Despites its murky appearance, Han Li knew exactly what it was.
With a sweep of his sleeve, all of the flashing lightning up ahead was wiped away like dust, revealing a gargantuan eye within th black hole.
A sense of apprehension welled up in Han Li's heart as he recalled what had happened the first time he had caught sight of this eye.
According to his recollection, the eye was several thousand feet in size and orange in color, with a long and thin pupil down the center that gave off a cold gleam.
At the time, all it had taken was a single glance at the eye for him to suffer severe spiritual sense backlash.
With his spiritual sense back then, it had been impossible for him to glean what laid behind the eye, and he had once speculated extensively on what type of massive beast the eye could've belonged to.
Since then, he had become countless times more powerful than he had been back then, but he still couldn't help but be struck by a sense of awe at the sight of the giant eye.
He had speculated that the eye had been attached to a body, but as it turned out, there was nothing in the black hole aside from a lone eye.
As his gaze fell upon the eye, it also turned slightly to look at him, and he felt as if an explosive thunderclap had suddenly erupted within his spiritual sense.
An enormous gash was instantly torn into the sky above his consciousness, and the resulting headache was so severe that he was barely able to remain in control of himself.
However, in the next instant, a burst of translucent light swept through his consciousness, and the gash was immediately sealed, while the unrest in his consciousness was also quelled.
At this point, he had already mastered all seven levels of the Spirit Refinement Technique, elevating his spiritual sense to unfathomable heights.
Immediately thereafter, Han Li channeled his Great Five Elemental Illusion Mantra, and a full moon rose up into the sky before revealing itself to be the Mantra Treasured Axis.
At the center of the hole in the Mantra Treasured Axis was a large, golden eye that was currently closed, and Han Li was staring intently at the orange eye as he thought to himself, Let me see exactly what you are!
All of the Time Dao Runes on his Mantra Treasured Axis quickly lit up at his behest, and the Eye of Truth sprang open to reveal a golden eyeball.
As soon as the Eye of Truth sprang open, the circle of runes around the pupils instantly began to rapidly revolve, while a burst of faint golden light was projected out of the pupil, and Han Li began viewing the giant eye through the Eye of Truth, as opposed to his physical eyes.
Thin, golden threads began to emerge from the giant eye, then intertwined and connected with one another to gradually form a gargantuan body, one that possessed an ox-like body, but had dragon horns on its head.
Its round belly was riddled with ancient runes, but it only had a single leg, making it somewhat resemble a huge, black hammer. On top of that, there was a long, whip-like tail trailing along behind it.
"Isn't that a Lightning Kui?" Han Li exclaimed to himself.
Han Li wasn't unfamiliar with the Lightning Kui. In fact, he had even previously referenced the patterns on its body in the process of making inscriptions on his Dao Warriors. Never had he imagined that the giant eye here would've been left behind by a Lightning Kui.
However, upon closer inspection, Han Li quickly discovered that this was no ordinary Lightning Kui. Instead, the patterns on its body were imbued with the true meaning of lightning, and they were far more profound than the patterns found on a normal Lightning Kui's body.
With that in mind, Han Li injected more of his time law powers into the Eye of Truth, and the golden light pouring out of it instantly became brighter and denser than before.
The flow of time in the entire lightning sea seemed to have been severed, and everything was brought to an abrupt halt, yet the Lightning Kui had begun to move.
Giant pillars of lightning came crashing down upon its body from the heavens, and its near-indestructible body disintegrated bit by bit, dissipating into spectacular streaks of light that surged up into the heavens.
Unwilling to accept its fate, the Lightning Kui split its own body into two in a final act of desperation, and one half of its body was devoured by the heavens, while the other half surged toward its own left eye in a frenzy.
Before long, its entire body had been reduced to nothingness, leaving only this lone, orange eye hovering in the sky.
What do you think?
