Absolute Death Game

Chapter 287 - 62: The Feeling of RMB Players

The key lies in the description of this Skill Book, "Survive for seven days, after which it will naturally dissipate." The word ’survive’ is used here, which seems somewhat ironic for an Undead. Is the description of the skill not accurate enough? Xiao Buli didn’t think so.

Playing this game for so long, he had almost completely grasped the operation of the game. There were basically no bugs.

Then it is very likely that the so-called Wandering Spirit is not just a common Undead, but a kind of creature. As such a creature, could a Wandering Spirit be resurrected? He had always subconsciously thought it was possible, but now he found it hard to confirm. After all, if Spirit Reincarnation was really that useful, there’s no way the Skill Book would be so cheap.

One has to know, the probability of a person becoming a Ghost after death is not one hundred percent, having such a skill would be like having an extra insurance policy.

To find out the answer to this question, undoubtedly, he needed to ask someone. With his doubts, Xiao Buli headed to the Grand Yin Sect.

Because he had previously completed tasks for the Grand Yin Sect, and his Prestige had reached Friendly, he was not obstructed and easily found the Sect leader to inquire about this issue.

After hearing his question, the Sect leader immediately gave the answer.

"Wandering Spirits are a fixed Spiritual Body, or rather a creature of spiritual nature, while Ghosts are Undead, the spiritual remnants left behind after a human dies. They are completely different entities. A ghost can combine with an unconscious body to form a complete human, but Wandering Spirits do not possess this ability."

Upon hearing the Sect leader’s words, Xiao Buli felt a chill in his heart. So his confidence all this time had been built on a castle of sand. Lucky for him, he had always been cautious not to die; otherwise, it would have been lethal.

The good news was that he no longer had to help those few buy "Spirit Reincarnation" Skill Books. The bad news, however, was if any of them did die, Xiao Buli was not completely certain that he could resurrect them.

With that in mind, Xiao Buli turned back, "Hey, you guys, be careful when playing the games, don’t die."

"Boss, did you take the wrong medicine? How could we possibly not be careful about this? Do you still need to tell us?"

They obviously didn’t appreciate his concern, but Xiao Buli sighed and said nothing more.

After looking through the Skill Book, Xiao Buli searched in the auction house listings for various equipment blueprints, with simple criteria: low learning requirements, decent Attributes, low cost, suitable for equipping NPCs en masse. Soon, he found several suitable blueprints.

Black Lacquer War Bow: A standard war bow commonly seen in the army, often used to arm powerful archer units.

Learning requirements: Carpenter LV5, Forging LV1.

Cowhide Iron-Plated Armor: Armor made of cowhide with iron plates embedded in it, further enhancing its defensive power.

Learning requirements: Leatherworking LV5, Forging LV1. Iron-Wrapped Round Shield: A round wooden shield wrapped with a layer of iron, offering better defense than standard wooden round shields.

Learning requirements: Carpenter LV5, Forging LV3.

There were as many as twelve or thirteen of these blueprints, all of which were very cheap because they were only blueprints for white equipment. Although among the white equipment they were decent, they were still white equipment after all.

For players with even a small amount of capital, they were of no use, and even for those focusing on Professional Skills, these blueprints could only be used to practice skills, increasing proficiency, making it impossible to profit, so they had little real value. Xiao Buli spent five Gold Coins and got the whole set of blueprints he needed.

After buying the blueprints, he didn’t end his shopping there. He flipped through the pages, looking for any particularly good items. When he flipped to the last few pages, he found several Magical Treasure Blueprints, obviously consigned by adventurers. These were all lower-level blueprints, at most level three Magical Treasures, but their prices were outrageously high.

It was evident that these players valued such items highly; the cheapest blueprints were around five or six Gold Coins, which he couldn’t afford now.

These Magical Treasure Blueprints were divided into two types: knowledge-based blueprints, which, once learned, the content of the blueprints could be saved in the skill list, and one could craft Magical Treasures as long as they had the materials.

The other type of blueprint was consumable, usable only once. When crafting a Magical Treasure, they needed to be fused with materials in the Furnace. Once used, they were gone, more like a type of diagram.

The former, the knowledge-based blueprints, were generally lower-level Magical Treasure blueprints, while the latter were either higher-level or particularly special-effect Magical Treasure blueprints.

Now, the auction house was selling the former, the knowledge-based blueprints, and among them was one that caught Xiao Buli’s attention.

Exorcism Staff: A staff filled with pure energy, capable of dispelling various types of Supernatural Forces.

Use: Powerful Dispelling Spell, dispels all Spell effects on a target, or deals 300 damage to a Summoned unit. Usable three times per day.

Learning requirements: 30 points of spiritual power, Magical Treasure Crafting LV3.

Material requirements: Pure Yang Treasure Diamond×1, Red Gold Ingot×2, Xuan Yang Essence×3.

This item should be able to dispel the barrier at the entrance of the cave, but the price was really not low, at thirty Gold Coins. This didn’t even include the cost of materials. Altogether, it would probably cost at least fifty Gold Coins.

Xiao Buli naturally couldn’t fork out that amount of money, but he had a Black Dragon King Flag Fragment to use instead.

He listed the item directly in the auction house, setting the price at fifty Gold Coins. It seemed a bit high, but he was hoping someone would bite.

"Hey, are you guys hungry?" Han Wenhuan suddenly said, "Let’s go out and grab some food."

Xiao Buli glanced out the window, the sky had unknowingly turned dark.

"Forget it, I’ll just eat something simple. You guys go ahead if you want to go out," replied Xiao Buli.

Han Wenhuan nodded, logged off, and left. Seeing him leave, Gu Shaobang and the others followed suit. Xiao Buli paid them no mind, his focus still on the auction house.

While nibbling on some bread, Xiao Buli scrolled through the auction house items. There were plenty of great items, and numerous materials useful for crafting Magical Treasures. However, he was low on cash, and there weren’t many items he could afford. As darkness fell completely, Xiao Buli didn’t stay any longer and headed towards the city outskirts.

He intended to claim the Undead Boss he had encountered before, the Soul of Meng Zhao.

As for whether this silver-named mini-Boss still existed, he was somewhat doubtful. After all, much time had passed, not to mention an influx of players could’ve easily slain it by now.

However, the location was quite secluded, and ghost-type monsters tended to be quite tricky for most players. Because of this, he still held out great hope.

When he arrived at the ancient battlefield, he wasn’t disappointed. In the pitch-black night, the Soul of Meng Zhao and the group of Elite and ordinary Undead were still there, arrayed in the same military formation as before, slowly drifting across the desolate grounds of the battlefield.

Not a soul was around—it was truly desolate. Xiao Buli counted the ghosts. Aside from the uncontrollable Wandering Spirits and wild ghosts, there were about thirty to forty Ghost Soldiers following the Soul of Meng Zhao, including six elites—four ordinary and two high-level—plus those white Ghost Soldiers in the back, looking rather organized indeed.

If it were anyone else facing these ghostly monsters, they would have had a tough time dealing with them. Firstly, ghost-type creatures were immune to physical attacks. Secondly, ghosts could turn invisible. Thirdly, there was a large number of them. Lastly, Yin Attribute attacks ignored defense.

For Xiao Buli, however, none of these were problems. Firstly, he wielded the Soul Slayer’s Blade, rendering their physical immunity ineffective.

Secondly, he had the Omniscient Eye spell, so invisibility didn’t work on him either.

Thirdly, regardless of their numbers, he could employ area attacks, thus still ineffective.

Lastly, while the ghosts’ Yin Attribute Spells were somewhat threatening, his Black Dragon Scale Armor negated that final threat.

So, after assessing the situation, Xiao Buli activated various buffs and charged into the midst of the monsters.

Soul of Meng Zhao: "I smell the living, kill him!"

At the BOSS’s command, the ghosts swarmed towards him in unison.

Soul-Stripping Touch!

The low-level Ghost Soldiers stretched out their hands towards him, groping wildly, and ’immune’ notifications continually popped up overhead—these low-level spells were completely ineffective against him.

The Elite Ghosts took action, launching shadows of ’Yin Energy Bullets’ that, like self-guided missiles, hit Xiao Buli. Again, piles of ’immune’ notifications appeared over his head.

Immunity to Yin Attribute Spells was indeed domineering! Thinking this, Xiao Buli effortlessly slashed through with his blade. The ghosts were as vulnerable as vegetables, scattering their souls with just the blink of an eye. @@novelbin@@

Xiao Buli felt an immense sense of satisfaction. This was what it meant to be domineering. With things going this way, not to mention one versus five, even one versus fifty thousand would pose no difficulty. He now understood the feeling of those pay-to-win players.

What surprised him was that, despite the immunity to Yin Attribute attacks, he still lost some health in the ensuing battle. The ghosts were able to employ physical attacks, but their effectiveness was much weaker compared to living beings. Therefore, the fight was still uneventful, and he resolved it in a few minutes.

The Elite Ghosts dropped nothing notable apart from a few Shadow Essences, but the Soul of Meng Zhao yielded two items.

One was a piece of the Black Dragon King Flag, and the other was a Skill Book called "Nether Fire Orb".
