Chapter 40: 029 General Crossing Chapters

“Of course, I’m serious.”

Kolev smiled:

“Not just a ship, I will also equip you with an auxiliary piloting system and a dozen high-rank maintenance robots.”

“This is a space exploration ship retrofitted from a decommissioned warship. When I got my hands on it, its main cannon had already been removed, and only a few side cannons were left. So, I decided to strengthen its protective shield and endurance, and I reinstalled expensive external armor. You could even use it to ram into the spaceship Kimo is using now… Of course, the result would definitely be mutually assured destruction.”

Kolev’s latter words were of little concern to Yang Ming.

Yang Ming stared at the ship, shaped like the jaws of a tiger, deeply attracted by its red and white armor color scheme.

...

It was simply his dream ship!

Who needs a main cannon? @@novelbin@@

A million can’t buy an aluminum alloy box capable of warp transitions!

Besides, this thick-shelled vessel even came with several secondary cannons.

It was absolutely a gift from Kolev, but he still adhered to the old pirate principle and restricted the purchasing amount to one million.

Actually, comparing the two, getting a million Federation Credit Coins wasn’t difficult; the hassle was in the ship-purchasing channels, as well as subsequent maintenance and adaptability retrofitting.

Furthermore, there was the auxiliary operation system and the ready set of supporting robots!

If only Yang Ming could figure out how to safely withdraw the money from the Hanton Empire account, he could pay for it right now!

Of course, he didn’t dare to touch the Hanton’s account, as that would draw the ‘sacrificed Hanton during the Cole Port riots’ back into the sight of the Imperial Military Intelligence Bureau.

“Kolev,” Yang Ming interrupted the incessant Kolev, “Hey, Kolev!”

“What’s up, what happened?”

“The part you discounted is too precious, Kimo’s life isn’t worth this price,” Yang Ming said calmly. “Don’t sell it to me; just consider it rented. When I achieve my goal, I will return it to you. I’ll rent it for five years with one million, needing also zero down payment and installment payments.”

Kolev squinted his eyes, speaking softly with a smile:

“How can a captain recruit loyal crew members without his own ship?

“And a million Federation Coins is no small sum for a young person.

“I was originally thinking, in the last days of my life, to pilot it myself, warp to the edge of the Milky Way, and take Mimili’s mother’s ashes to eternally travel to the neighboring Large Star System…”

Yang Ming frowned slightly.

He was certainly not being coy about an ‘old’ friend’s goodwill, nor did he doubt the truth of Kolev’s words.

He just felt it was somewhat unequal.

“Besides getting rid of Kimo, do you have any other requests?” Yang Ming asked earnestly.

“Ha ha ha,” Kolev laughed a few times, “Kolev never makes a losing deal! You will know by tomorrow, rest for today, and try to find some fun to relax.”

Tomorrow?

Yang Ming ominously had a bad feeling.

After a whole day of rest.

Base conference room.

Bang!

A butler robot, dressed in a tailcoat, slammed a stack of thick paper books onto the table in front of Yang Ming.

Yang Ming’s mouth twitched slightly as he looked at these manuals thick as the Imperial Civil Code: “Spaceship Operation Universal Manual,” “Warp Transition Principles,” “Maintenance and Care of Engine Rooms,” “Terrifying Celestial Bodies in the Universe,” “How to Become a Qualified Captain,” “Navigation”…

“Am I supposed to learn all these in three months? Only three months? That’s impossible, Kolev!”

Kolev smiled: “I’ve prepared enough revitalizing fragrances for you, and your tutor, Molly, will help you organize this information.”

The elderly man’s virtual secretary, now wearing a dress, adjusted the black-framed glasses on her face and continued with a cold electronic synthesized voice:

“Cadet Hanton, please accept this challenge.”

Yang Ming’s face fell.

He picked up a book, opened it, and looking at the densely packed Galaxy Universal Language inside, his head began to throb again.

Sitting opposite, Mimili couldn’t help but laugh.

“Mimili,” Kolev said with a smile, “you sit over there too.”

“Me?” Mimili’s gem-like eyes widened, “Dad, are you serious?”

“Yes, Mimili, I have to be strict with you now,” Kolev said seriously, “As a reward for you learning this foundational knowledge, I’ve already asked Hanton to train you in combat.”

“That sounds pretty good,” Mimili smiled contentedly.

She had clearly dressed up specially today, wearing a pink long-sleeved dress that played a ‘disappearing lower half’ trick, making Yang Ming feel slightly impolite even just taking a few more glances.

Mimili pulled her chair next to Yang Ming’s, sitting right next to him, then like a lady, she sat down and winked at Yang Ming.

Yang Ming sniffed, the faint scent of roses somewhat enticing.

“Hey!” Kolev leaned forward, “Separate a bit, you two!”

Mimili rolled her eyes and scooted her little butt over a bit.

“Move a bit more!”

“Dad, you can’t control where I sit.”

“As long as I’m still your father, you have to listen to me! Move over a bit!”

Half a minute later, Yang Ming looked at Mimili, who covered her eyes with her hand, and Kolev, who sat between himself and Mimili, feeling a surge to throw the old man out.

Kolev smiled: “Alright Molly, switch to teaching mode, start your lecture.”

“Okay, dear masters, please look at the big screen. We will start learning from the basic theories, approximately needing twelve lessons. To improve efficiency, please drink less water to reduce the frequency of bathroom breaks.”
