Chapter 95: 058 Mutual Probing with the Second Prince_2

“Oh,” Kolev looked utterly dejected, “you really like to meddle, can’t I even use my own money to buy it?”
“Of course not,” Lyu gently pushed up her glasses, making her look both capable and wise in her secretary outfit, “although your property is yours, it is something I must account for. You are my boss’s only collaborator, and you are about to undertake a major enterprise, so you can’t waste money on such pretentious things in the preliminary stage.”
A few dark lines appeared on Kolev’s forehead.
He knew it!
This brat returned to find him with no good intentions!
“Getting something smaller isn’t bad either.”
Kolev grumbled discontentedly, “If he dares to bring a woman home and disturb the hard-earned sleep of an old man, I’ll break his third leg with a stick!”
“The boss only has two legs,” Lyu said seriously.
…
“Try this, Yang Ming.”
Standing by the floor-to-ceiling window overlooking the city’s skyline, the Second Prince eagerly offered Yang Ming some precious delicacies.
Yang Ming didn’t hesitate, taking a forkful and bringing it to his mouth, chewing gently as he raised an eyebrow at the Second Prince, “It tastes good.”
“Want some more?”
“No, I’m not that fond of it,” Yang Ming said with a smile, waving his hand.
“Ahahaha!”
The Second Prince laughed happily, “The most important thing in communication is honesty, my friend. Everyone has their likes, and we must respect each other.”
Yang Ming decided to get to the point: “Did Your Highness call me over because of the Fourth Princess last time?”
“In part,” the Second Prince said, lifting a goblet and gently swirling it a few times.
The attending maid servants and female officials bowed and withdrew. One of the female officials brought a jamming device, shrouding the two in a pale blue light.
Yang Ming set down his knife and fork, his gaze resting on the Second Prince, who was now dressed in normal attire.
The Second Prince hummed softly, “Let me think where to start… Please forgive me, I investigated you after you came into my view.”
“Mmhm?”
“I found out that your uncle, Mr. Haton, has substantial assets in the New Federation and Cas Federation.”
“Is that so?” Yang Ming said with a smile, “I’m actually not too informed about that.”
“I also discovered,” the Second Prince’s voice slowed, his light blue eyes shining like stars, “that Mr. Haton has never mentioned having a nephew. His life trajectory is clearly visible, residing in the New Federation for years but recently moved to the Cas Federation. Yet, your trajectory, I could only trace back to a few months ago.”
Yang Ming’s smile gradually faded.
Laying it all on the table upfront?
He had to admit, the Second Prince had indeed put some pressure on him.
“Then, a friend told me.”
The Second Prince laughed, “That you and your uncle were not merely entangled in the Talisha incident, but once you landed on Ilando Star, you were watched by the military and taken to see Gudun Mah. No one knows what you talked about, and later the transport ship that was supposed to escort and return you to the surface suddenly exploded in space due to aging circuits causing a fire.”
Yang Ming leaned back in his chair, pondering quietly.
What was this prince aiming at?
The Second Prince looked out the window and sipped his freshly squeezed juice, “After I discovered all this, I decided to give you a factory as a gift. You need it to veil your true identity, don’t you?”
Yang Ming narrowed his eyes slightly.
It was clear that this country’s royals and military leaders all had vivid imaginations.
“I’m really not anybody’s agent.”
Yang Ming said calmly.
The Second Prince laughed, “I understand your profession, none of you ever admit directly. Relax, I won’t harm you.”
Yang Ming tapped the table with his fingers, “In fact, I really am just an honest businessman. Whether Your Highness believes it or not, I have no ties to the New Federation.”
The Second Prince’s expression showed some dissatisfaction, “I wanted to invite you today to discuss cooperation, and to show goodwill, I even gave you a gift in advance. Is this your attitude towards me, Mr. Ming?”
Yang Ming smiled, “Your Highness, please hold on.”
Saying so, he opened his watch’s projection screen in front of the Second Prince and typed a line of text.
[My dear secretary, please notify Deputy Chief of Staff Gudun Mah and have him find a way to call the Second Prince to prove that I am simply an honest businessman with no threat.]
He then sent it, stepped outside the jamming zone, and waited two seconds before returning.
Two minutes later, the Second Prince held a secure satellite phone, his expression becoming very grave.
“Okay, Deputy Chief of Staff, I understand. This young man is someone you deeply respect… He has no political background, got it… Hmm, let’s leave it at that, we shouldn’t make direct contact.”
Yang Ming ate and drank, finding these previously peculiar-tasting snacks suddenly quite delicious.
Little Mahha was of some use after all.
With a thud, the Second Prince tossed the heavy satellite phone to the corner of the table, waving his hand irritably.
The surrounding maids retreated even further.
“How did you do it?”
The Second Prince leaned forward, lowering his voice,
“Gudun Mah is the staunchest in military power. Hey, and you say you’re not from the New Federation? The military of Wind is almost entirely corrupted by the New Federation!”
Yang Ming said helplessly, “I’m really not, Your Highness. If you force me to explain, I’d have to reveal my true purpose here to earn your trust. Your trust is very important to me.”
“Talk, what are you here for?”

What do you think?
