Accidentally Married to the Big Shot

Chapter 154 - 154 Gu Cheng's First Love (2)

Chapter 154: Chapter 154 Gu Cheng’s First Love (2)

Li Zhen had often snuck into his bed late at night these past several weeks, donning all kinds of seductive attire, including lingerie meant to tantalize.

Gu Cheng sometimes felt this was unnecessary and uncalled for.

He liked her, and would like her just the same without these garments.

Of course, he still liked that Li Zhen did this for him.

That night, Li Zhen had dressed up as a nurse to please him, and although he was already fatigued from working on the project, the sight of her invigorated him for a two-hour battle.

Waking up to find Li Zhen gone, he was perplexed.

Li Zhen tended to be lazy, usually not waking up until well past nine in the morning.

Worried about her, he went to look for her.

The light was on in the study.

Usually, only he entered this floor’s study; it was off-limits to others, and if he wasn’t at the company, he would be working in the study.

Could Li Zhen be in here?

A sense of dread clutched at Gu Cheng’s heart.

Suddenly, he recalled the bidding failure from the previous year, when Li Zhen had also used his computer.

He lingered outside the study for a long time, wrestling with his conscience, but in the end, he couldn’t bring himself to knock on that door.

Qiu Yurou feared she couldn’t handle the gruesome details of the crash, where the fortunate ones left some remains, and the less fortunate left nothing.

Qiu Yurou handled the aftermath and didn’t want her to know too much.

Of course, Li Zhen began to suspect Qiu Yurou’s motives.

Seeking revenge but with limited capacity to act, Li Zhen complied with Uncle Zeng’s suggestion to steal documents and suppress the Gu Group.

Afterward, Gu Wei knew everything.

After reading through the documents Qiu Yurou provided, Li Zhen broke down in tears in her room.

Everything she had done was a mistake.

She repaid kindness with enmity and even delivered a blade to her enemy.

Uncle Zeng, in his greed, had done a number of harmful things to the Gu Group, and it was an extreme weather incident involving a private jet her parents had taken when a commercial flight was cancelled that led to the accident.

It was indeed an accident!

Qiu Yurou had taken her in with genuine intentions to treat her well. With many servants in the house, she must have known about Li Zhen’s escapades with Gu Cheng.

There was no reason for Qiu Yurou to have killed her parents only to allow her to seduce her son.

The next day, with Li Zhen absence from the house, Gu Cheng sent someone to tail her.

The person reported back that Li Zhen had made contact with a vice president of a competing company and exchanged something with him.

Gu Cheng felt as though his heart had been pounded by a violent fist, his spirit plummeting to the depths.

Still, he couldn’t let the project fall through.

He convened the other project leaders to make last-minute changes to the plan.

He also indirectly mentioned the issue to Li Zhen, hinting at betrayal, hoping she would come clean on her own accord.

That night, Li Zhen sneaked into his bed again, and rather than hastening to touch her, he simply asked, “Li Zhen, are you facing any difficulties right now? Are you in need of money, or in need of love? Whatever you need, just ask.”

Li Zhen laughed by his ear, “I lack nothing, except you.”

Gu Cheng felt a chill spread through his heart.

Never had he imagined that the person he’d met and fallen in love with at seventeen, the one he’d been with for five years, would be the one to betray him at his side.

And surely she had more moves to make.

Six months later, the project led by Gu Cheng was a success.

Li Zhen was flabbergasted.

How was this possible?

She had stolen the plans, and then Uncle Zeng had made modifications to the original project, the Gu Group was supposed to fail.

Why did Gu Cheng suddenly change the plans?

Li Zhen was berated over a phone call by Uncle Zeng, who scolded her for being an ingratitude, a snake in the grass that helped a foe against him.

Li Zhen was mentally crumbling; unable to resist, she confronted Gu Cheng.

“Did you know what I was doing behind your back? Have you always been suspicious of me?”

Gu Cheng looked at her painfully, “Why are you doing these things? By getting close to me, even getting into my bed, were you trying to doom the Gu Group?”

“That’s right, that’s exactly what I intended!” Li Zhen cried, “My parents spent their lives slaving away for the Gu Group, but how were they repaid by you all? After they broke into the overseas market, you deliberately sabotaged the plane to kill them in a crash so that you could take over their achievements. How dark your hearts are…”

“This time too, you knew I betrayed you, but you kept silent, just waiting to see me make a fool of myself, waiting for my disgrace. Well, you got your wish, I’m left with nothing now!”

Gu Cheng couldn’t believe she would think that.

“So you mean your parents were killed by us?”

Uncle Zeng told me so. My parents were flying back on a private jet arranged by you. Because they were honored for their hard work, you plotted their deaths, not allowing them to return and claim credit, worrying they might share in the stock and harm the interests of the Gu Family!”

Gu Cheng took a deep breath, “Did Uncle Zeng tell you all this?”

“He used to be part of Gu Group’s higher-ups, ousted because his merits overshadowed his superiors. If not for him, I would never have known the true cause of my parents’ death.”

As Li Zhen hysterically questioned Gu Cheng, Qiu Yurou was actually outside, listening to everything.

Over the last couple of years, Qiu Yurou knew Li Zhen had been climbing into Gu Cheng’s bed, but she pretended not to know, as she intended to take Li Zhen in as a daughter-in-law.

However, she never expected Li Zhen to do such a thing.

Qiu Yurou walked in and said to Li Zhen, “You’ve been deceived by that man surnamed Zeng. Indeed, he was a part of the Gu Group executive team, but his family betrayed us first. Here’s the evidence of his betrayal from back then, you can look it over.

As for your parents, it’s impossible that we had anything to do with their deaths. They may have flown a private jet, but that plane wasn’t sent by us. There is a detailed report on the accident’s cause; you can look at it.”

Qiu Yurou had her assistant bring all the relevant documents.

Li Zhen holed up in her room for days looking over them.

After returning to her country, just when she began emerging from the shadow of her parents’ death, Uncle Zeng found her, claiming that her parents had been killed by Qiu Yurou, that the Gu Family feared others’ achievements over their own, and were ruthless in their pursuit of profit.

Initially, Li Zhen did not believe him, but after a few more visits from Uncle Zeng, she was convinced.

Why did the Gu Family take her in? Why was Qiu Yurou so kind to her? Wasn’t it obvious? The Gu Family felt guilty towards her.

Uncle Zeng also introduced her to several people who had been fired by the Gu Group, all of whom described Qiu Yurou as venomous and ruthless, someone capable of causing the plane crash.

Li Zhen recalled wanting to look into the cause of her parents’ deaths, but Qiu Yurou never provided her with the details.

Even for the sake of maintaining moral integrity, it’s not something to do using one’s own son’s future.

Li Zhen knew she was wrong, utterly and completely.
