Chapter 252: Chapter 252: Bao Min Was Driven Away Again Chapter 252: Chapter 252: Bao Min Was Driven Away Again Su Meixi inquired with Gu Wei about when Commander Bao would be at home. Although Commander Bao held a higher rank than Gu Wei, their rest times were quite similar.

When Gu Wei came back for the weekend, Su Meixi happened to be off duty as well.

“Is Commander Bao back too?” Su Meixi asked.

“Yeah, he’s back. Why do you keep asking about this?” Gu Wei asked.

Su Meixi did not answer, just saying, “Then after we finish dinner, let’s make a visit to his place.”

Gu Wei was somewhat surprised, “Aren’t you usually not fond of making social calls?”

Su Meixi smiled, “There are some matters that I need to discuss with Commander Bao in person.”

After dinner, Su Meixi and Gu Wei took a bag of fruit and went to Commander Bao’s house.

Commander Bao’s children were all out of town, and he, being a typical male chauvinist, usually only ate and slept at home. So, when Su Meixi arrived, once again, there were only Aunt Bao and Bao Min.

Aunt Bao was watching TV while knitting a sweater, and Bao Min was playing with her phone in the living room.

Seeing Su Meixi and Gu Wei arrive, Aunt Bao quickly put down her knitting, then turned down the volume of the television.

“What brings you two here?” Aunt Bao was a bit surprised, as the sisters-in-law in the Military District had said that Su Meixi did not like to socialize.

Moreover, this time she had come with Gu Wei.

Su Meixi smiled, “Just thought we’d drop by for a visit. Where’s Commander Bao?”

“Upstairs, I’ll go call him down. Xiao Min, pour some tea for the guests,” Aunt Bao said.

Bao Min looked at Gu Wei with a beaming smile but was completely unenthusiastic when looking at Su Meixi. Out of the two cups of tea, Gu Wei’s was full while Su Meixi’s was only half full.

Su Meixi didn’t mind.

Before long, Commander Bao came down as well.

As he walked down, Commander Bao asked, “What brings you both over? You’re young; you should be enjoying your time together as a couple.”

Su Meixi stood up, smiling, “We wanted to, but there are always people talking behind our backs, so we thought we would ask Commander Bao to help us sort out some justice.”

“Oh? What have they been saying about you? This is the Military District. Who would be that idle? That’s just stirring up trouble,” Commander Bao asked.

“Some say that Gu Wei and I are infertile and that people often rummage through our trash bins.”

As soon as Su Meixi’s voice dropped, Bao Min’s face turned pale.

“Is something like that really happening? Who is so idle?”

Aunt Bao also said, “I have heard about the infertility rumor, but I didn’t know about the trash bin issue.”

Su Meixi smiled, “We installed a surveillance camera at our front door recently. We’ve got it all on tape.”

At this moment, Bao Min’s complexion changed drastically.

Su Meixi looked at Bao Min, “Teacher Bao, you must know who this person is, right?”

“I…” Bao Min was still defiant at first, “How would I know?”

Su Meixi no longer gave her any face, she pulled up the video on her phone and handed it to Commander Bao.

Commander Bao took one look, and his face darkened immediately.

In sheer darkness, Bao Min was digging through other people’s trash bins, even inspecting their discarded sanitary pads!

Gu Wei had been unaware of this issue. He instinctively felt Su Meixi had something to deal with at Commander Bao’s house, but since she didn’t speak up, he didn’t ask. After all, he just came along to support her.

Seeing that it was actually about this matter, Gu Wei immediately got angry as well, “Commander Bao, what’s this about your niece always targeting my Ah Xi? She’s supposed to be setting an example as a teacher, but she’s capable of going through someone’s trash bins!”

Aunt Bao also said, “Xiao Min, why are you going through Ah Xi’s trash? Are you trying to dig up some kind of leverage on them? And was it you who spread the infertility rumors? You… why can’t you just give us peace of mind?”

Bao Min, now feeling both guilt and anger, suddenly burst into tears.

“I… I…” She pointed at Su Meixi, “It’s all because she’s a hypocrite. I just wanted to expose her true colors.”

“What true colors?” Commander Bao asked.

“She’s just a hypocrite, fake through and through.”

Commander Bao asked pointedly, “Are you jealous of her?”

Bao Min: “…”

Seeing the situation escalating, Gu Wei angrily stood up, and taking Su Meixi’s hand he said, “Commander Bao, you’ve already sent your niece back to the countryside once. You know full well she’s up to no good, yet you let her come back. Now she’s targeting Ah Xi at every turn. If you cannot handle this fairly, then I will have to seek Mr. Xi’s help—and Mr. Xi happens to be Ah Xi’s godfather! Ah Xi, let’s go!”

Having said that, he led Su Meixi out the door.

Inside, Bao Min was crying and whimpering, Aunt Bao pretended to comfort her for a moment before heading upstairs.

This was someone else’s family affair, and it wasn’t right for Aunt Bao to meddle. She had long been unimpressed by Bao Min parading around like she was something special.

Bao Min then pulled a pitiful act, “Uncle, please don’t send me away. If I go back, my father will break my legs.”

Commander Bao angrily said, “You’re just trouble. You should know that Xiao Su is now Mr. Xi’s goddaughter. This time, you must leave no matter what. I’ll arrange a job for you back in the county town where your hometown is. You’re leaving tomorrow, and you won’t have a place in education here anymore.”

Upon hearing this, Bao Min collapsed in despair.

Bao Min called Xi Wanlin that evening, “Sister Linlin, what should I do? My uncle is going to send me away again because he found out I was rummaging through Su Meixi’s trash.”

Xi Wanlin couldn’t help but curse internally, “Idiot!”

But to prevent Bao Min from implicating her, Xi Wanlin consoled her, “Don’t worry, where does your uncle want to transfer you to?”

“Back to my hometown in the county.”

“For now, the best move is to go back. When the time is right, I will plead with my father. I am his biological daughter, after all; he surely loves me much more than that goddaughter, don’t you think?”

Bao Min felt there was reason in Xi Wanlin’s words.

“Sister Linlin, just remember to get your father to transfer me back. I can’t bear to leave here; I still want to find a promising husband in this place. The men in the small county town are not even worth considering.”

“Alright, I will, don’t worry,” Xi Wanlin consoled Bao Min a bit more and then hung up the phone.

After ending the call, she couldn’t help but sigh several times.

Recently, Li Shirui had grown close to Aunt Bao, adding her on WeChat, and from time to time, they chatted briefly.

Actually, the two women were not at all similar. Aunt Bao came from the countryside and had been a housewife all her life. Li Shirui was well-educated, and although she hadn’t been working in recent years, she had been supporting Xi Huarong and was a knowledgeable and elegant woman.

Li Shirui also frequently participated in public welfare activities related to women and children and had published books.

Li Shirui would chat with Aunt Bao on WeChat about the weather, daily meals, and their children. Aunt Bao, who was straightforward and unassuming, didn’t read much into it.

On Sunday, Li Shirui made a point of calling Aunt Bao, saying she wanted to come over for a visit.
