Chapter 26: Chapter 26 I’ve Never Seen Such an Honest Man
Was Su Meixi scared?
A little, but not particularly frightened, she was courageously observing the decor inside.
Although the music and the setting inside were quite horrifying, the props were too fake. Instead of surgical tools on the operating table, there were two large scissors, and the “corpse’s” head and belly were smeared with blood, but one could tell it was just ketchup at a glance—completely lacking a real blood scent.
Unprofessional!
Now Gu Wei was holding her hand, and she just looked up at him.
Fine, for him to get a good night’s sleep, she would pretend to be scared.
“Gu Wei, this is so scary!” she clung to him.
Gu Wei: “…”
He wasn’t a fool, he could tell at a glance that she wasn’t scared, okay?
But why did she want to hug him?
Could it be affection?
Ha, women!
The boys and girls inside the room didn’t dare to move forward when they saw the “corpse” sit up—only after Gu Wei and Su Meixi walked forward did they muster the courage to follow.
That “corpse” was also naughty, taking advantage of its scary makeup to chase after them, causing a group of people to scatter and rush toward the next room.
Gu Wei quickly protected Su Meixi, whereas she was bumped by someone and ended up in his arms.
Her entire body pressed tightly against him.
“Are you alright?” he asked.
Her large eyes flickered as she shook her head, “I’m fine.”
His hands were still wrapped around her waist, feeling as supple as a willow branch, almost boneless, making him reluctant to let go.
Especially with her chest pressed against his, so soft and warm.
At this moment, Su Meixi felt the intensity in his eyes and couldn’t help freezing.
Usually, he could restrain himself at home, but here, amidst this creepy and eerie atmosphere, he seemed to have become emotionally stirred.
They looked at each other.
Until a blood-covered thing ran up to them, curiously observing them.
Su Meixi turned around to see that very “corpse!”
It hadn’t been scary from a distance, but up close, it did give her a fright. @@novelbin@@
She immediately pressed herself tightly against Gu Wei.
It was then the “corpse” reminded them, “Your group has moved ahead; if you don’t go now, you won’t catch up. And I need to prepare for the next batch of players.”
Gu Wei understood, and he politely said to the “corpse,” “Goodbye.”
The “corpse” waved at them.
Quite peculiar, he had seen plenty of boys and girls huddle together out of fear, but none exchanging affectionate glances like this.
Did they take him for an ornament?
…
The next scene was the morgue.
As the name suggests, there would be even more corpses here, now turned into “zombies.”
When they entered, all the zombies were lying on beds, but as soon as they came in, the zombies immediately sprang to life, getting up to scare everyone. The boys and girls were again scared into a mass, with one guy pushing his girlfriend toward a zombie out of fear. The girl ended up crying, and it was a male zombie who comforted her.
Su Meixi thought the game was very fake during the first challenge, but by the second, she felt she could just play along—after all, there were tasks, and completing them brought a sense of achievement.
The room had a task: find the yellow immobilization charm and stick the yellow talisman on a zombie’s face, then grab the pass token to move on to the next challenge.
The immobilization charms were scattered around the room, to be searched for individually. The timid ones only dared to hide or huddle together in groups to search, which was utterly inefficient.
Su Meixi thought that today’s hugging task was already complete, so she said to Gu Wei, “Why don’t we search separately? That way we might be more efficient.”
Gu Wei was not very willing, “But what if you get scared?”
“It’s just a matter of someone popping out unexpectedly while doing the task; there’s nothing to be afraid of.” Su Meixi had been living alone since she was young and had trained herself to be invincible.
Things like cats meowing in the middle of the night, rats occasionally encountered in the hallway, or being vigilant about strangers following her—compared to these, what’s the big deal about fake zombies and ghosts here?
At most, they would just scare her, they couldn’t actually harm her.
And if something did happen to her here, wouldn’t the owner of this place be responsible?
Thinking this, Su Meixi couldn’t help but shake her head. It seemed that really rational people truly weren’t suited for these games.
Seeing that Su Meixi was genuinely unafraid, Gu Wei agreed to split up.
Su Meixi rummaged through cabinets and drawers in search of items.
Perhaps because she was alone, the NPCs inside took special care of her. When she opened a cabinet, she unexpectedly found a “zombie” hidden inside, flailing its arms and gnashing its teeth in front of her.
She merely paused for a moment, then shook her head and continued searching.
The “zombie” howled a few times and even tugged at her hair, trying to see if she would get scared.
Su Meixi said, “Stop it.”
Realizing she truly wasn’t scared, the “zombie” felt it was no fun, so it pointed to the top of the cabinet, “There’s an immobilization charm up there, stick one on my forehead and I’ll stop bothering you.”
“Thanks,” Su Meixi responded as she tiptoed to reach it and then stuck it on the “zombie’s” forehead; it really did sit still inside the cabinet afterward.
But the “zombie” was still restless, suddenly pointing to a spot not far away, “Looks like your boyfriend is flirting with another girl.”
Flirting with another girl?
Su Meixi looked outside and saw Gu Wei also searching for something in the hallway, with a girl trailing behind him, occasionally tugging at his sleeve.
Unexpectedly, a “ghost” in a red dress popped out in the hallway. The girl let out a shriek, and suddenly, she was hanging all over Gu Wei.
Su Meixi: “…”
This girl had come with two other guys, but they were too scared to do anything and scattered in every direction, not paying her any attention. She just happened to see Gu Wei on his own, and noting his tall and handsome figure, it seemed like he was not afraid at all, so she clung to him.
Seeing this, Su Meixi turned away, feeling annoyed.
Hmph, he’s really the same with any girl just to get some sleep!
No man can resist the temptation!
Gu Wei hadn’t seen Su Meixi because he didn’t immediately push the girl away; it was because when the girl clung to him, it pulled at his wound, which made him pause.
When he recovered, he immediately peeled the girl off him.
“You can’t stick to me like that.”
The girl said pitifully, “Can I follow you then? I can’t find my two friends, and I’m scared.”
Gu Wei shook his head, “I came with my wife, and I’m afraid she might misunderstand.”
The girl: “…”
She had never met such a straightforward man!
She pleaded, “But I’m really scared.”
Gu Wei coldly broke it down for her: “Before entering, I asked the staff outside, and they said that although the game is scary, no one has ever been frightened to death, so there’s no need to be scared.”
The girl: “…”
Gu Wei then turned and walked away.
Honestly, his duty and obligation was to protect the people, and if there were real danger, he would not abandon the girl, but this was just a game.
…
While Su Meixi was carrying out her task, she also encountered a girl.
That girl looked at her pitifully, “Sister, aren’t you scared at all?”
What do you think?
