Accidentally Married to the Big Shot

Chapter 46 - 46 First Love

Chapter 46: Chapter 46 First Love

Su Meixi and Gu Wei had dinner tonight at an outdoor restaurant.

Su Meixi chose a Hong Kong-style tea restaurant, where Cantonese songs played in the background. It was unclear whether the restaurant owner was in a bad mood or had accidentally set the playlist to repeat, but the song that kept playing was “First Love.”

“When the day comes for you to leave, please don’t offer comfort, first loves are often doomed to separate and change hearts…”

After listening to it three times, Su Meixi couldn’t help but complain, “I’m about to memorize these lyrics.”

Gu Wei smiled, “Have you heard this song before?”

“I think so, it’s a very old song, probably older than us.”

Suddenly, Gu Wei thought of the words Han Ningzhen had said: First love is always hard to forget.

He couldn’t help but bring up the topic, “I heard that this song is written for a first love.”

Su Meixi said, “Yes, many good songs are written for first loves.”

“Is first love really that unforgettable?” asked Gu Wei.

Su Meixi paused.

First love…

Somehow, she thought of her middle school days, of the boy who often walked her home.

She had felt a faint ember of affection for him then; perhaps that was her first love.

She said softly, “Yeah, first love is quite beautiful, but as the song says, it usually comes to an end without any trouble.”

Gu Wei didn’t know whether she was referring to Qi Anran.

He probed, “So your first love…”

Discussing one’s first love in front of their current partner was taboo, and Su Meixi wasn’t foolish enough to do that. She laughed and said, “Gosh, that was all when I was a teenager. What did I know then? I didn’t even hold hands.”

Gu Wei breathed a sigh of relief.

Su Meixi then asked him, “What about you? When was your first love?”

Gu Wei stated decisively, “I’ve never had a first love.”

Su Meixi thought to herself: Keep boasting.

Everyone harbors fantasies about someone of the opposite sex when affection first blooms in youth.

Gu Wei said so probably just to avoid making her upset.

As they chatted, a sudden scream came from outside the restaurant: “Robbery! Help!”

Instinctively, Su Meixi looked over. @@novelbin@@

However, Gu Wei had already left the dining table and dashed outside like a bolt of lightning.

Su Meixi quickly followed.

Not just her but others around also hurriedly went out.

Outside the restaurant was a small plaza, where now a crowd had gathered in three or four concentric circles. Unable to find Gu Wei, Su Meixi forced her way through the throng.

“What’s happening in there?” asked some who couldn’t get through.

“A thief stole a girl’s belongings and was stopped by a few people. Desperate, the thief took the girl hostage with a knife.”

“Isn’t that a desperado?”

“It’s a gambling addict who lost his head after losing. He’s capable of anything.”

While listening to the discussions of the bystanders, Su Meixi pushed forward.

Finally reaching the front of the crowd, she saw a disheveled man with long hair and a beard, holding a sharp knife against the throat of a woman in her twenties.

The woman, pale with fear, dared not move an inch.

In front of the girl was a lean man, possibly her boyfriend or a relative, attempting to convince the criminal to let the girl go.

“Let her go, and I’ll give you whatever amount you want.”

The criminal snarled, “Shut up, if I let her go, I’ll be arrested in the next second. Right now, I don’t want money, I want a life with me!”

The man was on the verge of tears, “My sister has asthma, if you want someone to die with you, then swap me in.”

The felon uninterested, “Why don’t I grab a young girl instead? Why would I take you?”

As he talked, he waved the knife at the people around, “Back off, all of you, or I’ll stab you together.”

The crowd dared not approach too closely, but eager to watch the excitement, they were reluctant to move too far away.

Su Meixi retreated with the crowd while searching for Gu Wei’s figure.

At first, Gu Wei was nowhere to be seen, but suddenly, there he was, appearing right behind the criminal!

The criminal seemed to sense someone behind him and immediately pointed the knife at Gu Wei.

Intending to scare Gu Wei into backing off, if Gu Wei didn’t leave, he’d then press the knife against the girl’s throat.

But quicker than words can tell, just as the knife was aimed at Gu Wei, it was firmly grasped by Gu Wei’s hand. With a twist, the knife clattered to the ground.

The criminal was stunned for a moment, not yet comprehending what had happened as he was swiftly pinned down by Gu Wei.

The knife on the ground was also kicked away by Gu Wei’s foot.

The girl, now free, rushed into her brother’s arms.

Her brother immediately gave her an asthma inhaler to use.

Gu Wei’s actions earned applause from the onlookers.

Soon, the police arrived.

After understanding the situation and interviewing several bystanders, they took the criminal away.

Su Meixi hurried to Gu Wei’s side.

Her eyes seemed to sparkle with little hearts, filled with admiration.

“Gu Wei, are you hurt at all?”

“Nope,” said Gu Wei.

“You were so cool just now,” said Su Meixi.

Gu Wei smiled.

It was child’s play for him, nowhere near a fraction of his full strength.

Then, the siblings came over to express their thanks.

The brother looked at Gu Wei, “Sir, it’s fortunate you were here, otherwise, my sister…”

Su Meixi turned to look at the man.

In that moment, she froze.

The man also saw Su Meixi.

“Are you… Xiao Xi?” The man was both shocked and elated.

Su Meixi felt a jolt.
