Chapter 93: Chapter 93: Going to Battle?
“When I first arrived, I thought this place was barren and desolate, but now when I look at it again, beauty is everywhere.”
Su Meixi spread her arms, and as the wind blew past, it seemed to embrace her.
Gu Wei walked up behind her and hugged her from the back then said, “Me too.”
She held onto his hands, “It turns out that scenery looks best when viewed with someone you like.”
“Isn’t that the truth?”
Having said that, Gu Wei went to the grass to pick a bunch of wildflowers and then sat down to weave a flower crown.
Su Meixi was somewhat surprised, “You know how to do this too?”
“I learned it from the locals; everyone here knows how to weave.” In a matter of a few sentences, he had finished weaving the flower crown, and then handed it to her, “Do you like it? Wanna try it on?”
“I like it.” She laughed.
As long as it was a gift from him, she liked it.
“I’ll put it on for you,” he said.
His movements were gentle, and in no time, it was on.
Then, he just quietly watched her.
“Why are you looking at me like that? Is it not pretty?” Su Meixi asked.
Gu Wei’s eyes shone brightly, “It’s beautiful. However, it would be perfect if you had two braids, it would add more flavor.”
Su Meixi immediately declined, “Forget it, I’ve never braided my hair before.”
As a child, no one had braided her hair for her. As she grew a bit older, she always just tied a casual ponytail; she always felt that braiding was for little princesses, not for her.
Gu Wei spoke softly, “Let me braid it for you.”
“You know how to braid too? Have you done it for someone else before?”
“Of course not, but I’m a genius, I can do anything.”
Su Meixi was half-skeptical, “You’re lying to me.”
“You don’t believe me? Then turn around,” Gu Wei said.
Su Meixi listened to him and turned her back to him.
Gu Wei quietly took out his phone and searched how to braid a fishtail braid, and after roughly half a minute he had a general idea.
He untied her ponytail, then grabbed her thick, dense, black hair—her bangs and hair tips slightly curled—and started to braid. Braiding the two strands only made her hair look even more voluminous.
Gu Wei was meticulous as he braided, careful not to hurt her.
Su Meixi just sat there quietly.
So this was what it was like to have someone else braid your hair, it was very enjoyable.
Gu Wei braided for about five or six minutes, then he said to her, “Done.”
“Done?”
She reached up to feel it.
She was used to securing her ponytail with two rubber bands, so she wasn’t worried about not having rubber bands to hold the braids.
On touching them, it seemed like he did a decent job.
She then took out her phone and said, “I’ll take a look.”
Gu Wei, however, stopped her and said, “Don’t look now, wait until we get back.”
“Why? Is it not good-looking?”
“It’s beautiful. You’re beautiful no matter what.”
“You’re feeling guilty, aren’t you?” Su Meixi said with a laugh.
His expression was very serious, “No, really.”
She didn’t look, as either way he was the first person to braid her hair.
She looked at him.
He looked back at her.
Their eyes met, and their lips involuntarily moved closer to each other.
They kissed forgetfully there on the grass.
Blue sky, white clouds, grass, and the small hill not far away, it seemed like the whole world consisted of just the two of them.
It wasn’t until Gu Wei started to unbutton her that Su Meixi suddenly opened her eyes.
“Gu Wei, what if someone comes?”
“It won’t happen, I pass by here every day and have never seen anyone coming by.”
Su Meixi was still nervous.
Gu Wei picked her up and carried her behind a large boulder before asking, “How about here?”
She looked around and then shyly nodded her head.
Her dormitory was too cramped, and his was too solemn, so they decided to let their wedding night take place in the wonderful embrace of nature.
Gu Wei passionately kissed her, and she responded eagerly.
He slipped his hand under her clothes, and she bit down hard on his shoulder.
Just as things were about to culminate, Su Meixi suddenly felt a third pair of eyes watching her.
Startled, she opened her eyes and let out a cry before hiding in Gu Wei’s embrace.
Gu Wei couldn’t help but look up as well.
A calf had, at some point, come up beside them and was curiously staring.
Gu Wei was still indulging in the moment, having tasted the sweetness he never had before, touched what he had never touched before, holding what he thought was the most exquisite body in the world.
“Scram!” Gu Wei picked up a stone to throw at the cow.
How dare it ruin his perfect moment!
Startled, the cow ran off.
Gu Wei turned his attention back to Su Meixi.
Her skin was flushed hot, her beauty radiant and seemingly dripping with charm.
He continued to kiss her body and savor her scent.
However, the sound of horse hooves approached from not too far away.
Gu Wei and Su Meixi instinctively looked up.
They saw the calf, which Gu Wei had chased away with a stone, now leading a herd of larger cattle toward them, their momentum like that of gang members seeking revenge.
Realizing the situation was dire, Gu Wei picked up Su Meixi and sprinted toward the car.
The cattle pursued them relentlessly.
Fortunately, Gu Wei was fast. He dashed to Su Meixi’s car, which was unlocked, and the two of them got in, then locked the doors.
The herd of cattle followed, butting the car with their horns, almost flipping it over.
Su Meixi hid tightly in Gu Wei’s arms, while he held her protectively, keeping a watchful eye on the bovine assailants.
Thankfully, the SUV was sturdy and the cattle eventually gave up and walked away.
The two of them let out a sigh of relief.
Su Meixi commented, “Coming to the border really exposes you to all sorts of situations.”
Gu Wei agreed, “Exactly, who could’ve expected this?”
“Those cattle were vicious, like they were out for revenge. Could they be wild?”
“They’re herded by villagers, but indeed they have a wild side.”
They looked at each other, both quite disheveled.
Her clothing was disarrayed, her breasts half-concealed, her braid undone with the elastic band lost somewhere, and her skirt streaked with mud.
He too had bits of grass in his hair, and because he ran so fast holding her, one of his shoes had fallen off.
In such a state, neither felt inclined to continue what they’d started.
After looking at each other for a while, they suddenly burst into laughter.
…
Back in town, they headed to a small restaurant to eat.
Although they had tidied their hair and straightened their clothes, as soon as they walked into the restaurant, the proprietress teased, “Oh, been having a wild time?”
Su Meixi’s face turned as red as the base of her neck.
Gu Wei said nothing.
Some things just can’t be explained.
Just as Su Meixi was about to order, the proprietress suggested, “Order the stir-fried lamb kidneys, it’s good to replenish what you’ve spent.”
Gu Wei had no objections, “Sure, just make the portion a bit larger.”
“Do you want to add sugar?” the proprietress asked.
“Yes,” Gu Wei and Su Meixi, both from Feng City, liked to add a touch of sugar to enhance the flavor of their dishes.
The proprietress joked again, “You two are already so sweet together, why add more sugar?”
What do you think?
