Chapter 28 - 28 028 Catching a Snake Barehanded
Chapter 28: Chapter 028: Catching a Snake Barehanded Chapter 28: Chapter 028: Catching a Snake Barehanded After breakfast, Director Li announced the start of the timed challenge.
The only guidance they had was a vague destination point.
How to get there and how to search was all up to the small shovel in the guests’ hands.
This time, there were no backpacks, no water, and certainly no salt provided.
The only survival tool was a small iron shovel.
At this moment, the guests realized that Director Li was seriously upping the stakes.
Without oil, salt, or water, how were they expected to trek to a distant endpoint under such scorching heat?
Was this not basically a death wish?
Ignoring the displeased faces of the guests, Director Li announced the start and took off to wait at the endpoint.
“Director Li really wants to kill us this time,” Qin Dingyue complained while poking the ground with the small shovel.
The others also looked unhappy, and after several seconds of silence, they steeled themselves and set off.
Shen Yan was the only one who didn’t seem to resist.
“Let’s stick together!” Ding Yue’s eyes brightened, and she quickly moved closer to Shen Yan.
Zhou Yingming opened his mouth but followed silently without saying a word.
The others exchanged glances and joined in.
Especially Wen Yan, who moved particularly quickly.
Liu Qiang looked down on Wen Yan, who could only sing and seemed more delicate than a woman, possessing no survival skills and disgracing men.
But Wen Yan didn’t care about Liu Qiang’s disdain; he knew that following Shen Yan was never a mistake.
Mu Jincheng felt a bit anxious seeing everyone following Shen Yan.
How were they supposed to drive Shen Yan away if everyone walked together?
Shen Yan did not drive anyone away and seemed to have a good temperament.
Xu Zishen looked back at the long line of people trailing behind and felt slightly annoyed.
What was wrong with these people, sticking to them like clingy plaster?
“Can we find the food buried by the production team by just walking straight?” Xu Zishen’s unspoken implication was to scatter and search.
However, the people behind him seemed to turn a deaf ear and kept following.
Without the need to search for wild food and having no burden to carry other than a small iron shovel, their advance was much quicker.
The production team had given them shovels, indicating that food must be buried underground, so everyone was carefully scrutinizing the surrounding soil and bushes.
At any sign of disturbance, they would dig a few times.
But all for nothing.
After an hour’s walk, all of them were drenched in sweat, and the blazing sun nearly made them faint.
“I can’t take it anymore; this path is too uneven, it’s killing me,” Liu Qiang, the first to give in, plopped down on a rock, refusing to move.
She was dying of thirst.
And there was no water.
“I’m dying of thirst, my throat is smoking, can’t you guys think of how to find some water?” Wen Yan fanned his red face with his hands.
The others were also parched from the heat and had long wanted to find water to drink.
When Shen Yan saw them stop, she didn’t.
The few looked back to see the VJs and PDs brazenly drinking water right in front of them, their eyes bulging.
So infuriating.
The production team was definitely messing with them on purpose!
The production team was too inhumane.
“Shen Yan…” Seeing Shen Yan continuing to walk, Xu Zishen called out.
Shen Yan didn’t stop.
Their individual follow-cameras immediately caught up with her.
This time, seeing Shen Yan walking away, they didn’t follow.
Xu Zishen caught up, slightly out of breath: “Aren’t you thirsty?”
“A bit.”
It was then Xu Zishen noticed that Shen Yan’s body was cool and refreshing, with only a bit of fine sweat on her forehead.
Her snow-white skin shimmered under the sunlight, glowing with a lustrous sheen!
The person before him suddenly became very tempting.
Xu Zishen swallowed hard.
Undeniably, Shen Yan was truly attractive at the moment!
“What are you looking at,” Shen Yan, who was walking a step ahead, suddenly turned back, her gaze somewhat cold.
Xu Zishen quickly reined in his blatant stare, “Nothing much, just wanted to ask if you knew how to find some clean water to drink.”
“There’s a river up ahead, there are no residents nearby, the environment hasn’t been polluted, so the water quality should be up to standard.”
“You mean to suggest we drink river water!” Xu Zishen was a bit incredulous, then his face twisted into a look of disgust.
Shen Yan spoke calmly, “Then hold on for now.”
Saying this, Shen Yan headed towards the river.
Xu Zishen furrowed his brows and followed, “Do you really plan to drink this bacteria water?”
Shen Yan stood by the riverbank and then used a shovel to dig a hole next to a small mound.
Turning around, she saw a banana tree ahead. She bent down for a closer look and noticed the unopened banana flower buds that had just sprung up.
Shen Yan first tore off a banana leaf, then turned back and placed a few at the bottom of the pit where water was seeping out. She shaped another leaf into a conical form. Once the mud settled, Shen Yan used the banana leaf to scoop up water and began to drink.
The water was cool and refreshing as it filled her stomach.
Seeing the source of the water next to the mud, Xu Zishen’s brows were tightly knit.
The nearby VJ quickly adjusted the camera.
The audience watching exclaimed at the old countryside experience being displayed.
Those who had guessed that Shen Yan came from the countryside began to stir again.
They were saying it was certain that Shen Yan came from a rural background.
After quenching her thirst, Shen Yan tossed aside the banana leaf in her hand.
Xu Zishen was still hesitating about whether or not to drink.
He coughed, his throat dry as a tinderbox.
In this heat, without drinking water, he really might die of thirst.
Xu Zishen didn’t hesitate much longer and, imitating Shen Yan, he tore off a banana leaf, rolled it up loosely, and scooped up some water to drink.
Still, he grimaced as if he were drinking poison.
Shen Yan glanced around and noticed a figure dart past at the intersection ahead.
She raised her eyebrows slightly.
“I’ve drunk my fill…” Although there was an odd taste, it wasn’t enough to make him nauseous.
Xu Zishen began to size up Shen Yan standing there once again.
She stood quietly, exuding a hermit-like aura.
Xu Zishen was once again taken aback.
He had genuinely not realized Shen Yan was this beautiful before.
“Let’s go.”
Shen Yan frowned, not very fond of Xu Zishen’s explicit stares.
If it weren’t for the live broadcast, she really would have poked out his eyes.
Rubbing his eyes, Xu Zishen walked ahead first.
Shen Yan trailed behind him by two steps.
“Sss~”
“It sounds like something,” Xu Zishen abruptly stopped, sounding a bit unsure.
Shen Yan looked around and noticed a greenish trap hidden in a secluded spot.
Her dark eyes narrowed dangerously.
Xu Zishen took two steps forward and seemed to step on something, which made a “sss” sound, then wrapped tightly around Xu Zishen’s calf.
The tightness and the sudden appearance of a lengthy, flexible organism in his field of vision scared Xu Zishen to the extent that his eyes bulged and his face turned deathly pale!
“It’s a venomous snake!”
His scalp went numb instantly, and he jumped reflexively.
As the snake wrapped around his calf, its head darted towards his leg.
Its movement to bite was fast as lightning.
However, a fair and flawless hand was even faster.
As the snake’s fangs made contact with Xu Zishen’s flesh, it was grabbed and held.
Its slightly flattened head was somewhat misshapen by the grip.
The poisoned fangs caught on Xu Zishen’s trousers, and in that moment, Xu Zishen just wanted to faint on the spot.
His body stiff, he trembled as he spoke, “I, I think I’ve been bitten…”
The on-screen persona Xu Zishen had previously maintained seemed to collapse in that instant.
What do you think?
