Chapter 27: Chapter 27 Is It Her Illusion?
“Okay, I promise you.”
“???”
Song Sinian’s promise was so straightforward that it left Lu Zhaozhao at a loss for words.@@novelbin@@
If anyone else had replied so casually, she would have thought they were playing with her, but he wouldn’t.
Seeing Lu Zhaozhao not speaking again, Song Sinian gently rubbed the back of his index finger against her cheek and asked, “So what is it that you want me to do?”
Lu Zhaozhao stared at Song Sinian, dazed, “I hope you don’t invest in the Lu Family, but lend them money instead.”
If the overseas orders were going to be a loss, then she didn’t want Song Sinian to be involved.
Song Sinian nodded, “Hmm, I will have Zhao Xi take care of this matter in a bit.”
“And about the currently popular jade mine, don’t bid for it…”
Actually, by saying this, Lu Zhaozhao was somewhat worried that Song Sinian would ask her why he shouldn’t bid.
Yet to her surprise, not only did Song Sinian not ask her for a reason, but he also asked another question, “So which jade mine are you interested in?”
Lu Zhaozhao’s mouth hung open, but she couldn’t utter a single word.
After a long pause, she finally started to speak slowly, “You couldn’t possibly have a ‘Mind Reading Technique,’ could you?”
Song Sinian’s fingertip gently grazed her small face, “It’s a basic logic problem. If you don’t want me to bid for the popular mines, you obviously want me to bid for another. As for those two popular jade mines, you probably want to leave them for the Lu Family, right?”
Lu Zhaozhao’s heart suddenly sank.
From Song Sinian’s perspective, whether it was lending money to the Lu Family or refraining from bidding for the popular jade mines, it was all for the Lu Family’s sake.
Even lending money to the Lu Family might be intended to prevent the Song Family from taking extra money from the Lu Family.
Lu Zhaozhao thought of the misunderstanding between her and Song Sinian in her past life, and suddenly felt a surge of nervousness, “Mr. Song, I don’t want to help the Lu Family, I…”
She tried to explain, but as soon as she began to speak, she realized that her explanation would be in vain.
She couldn’t tell Song Sinian that she had been reborn, nor could she explain how she knew that purchasing those two popular jade mines would result in a complete loss.
“I… I would never harm you, really.” In the end, she could only say those soft words before falling silent.
Song Sinian gently lifted her small face and said indifferently, “I have no suspicion towards you. Just tell me whatever you want or what you wish to do. As for the reason, if you are willing to tell me, do so; if not, I can wait.”
“…”
Yes, it was because their Mr. Song was always so good, that made it so hard for her to let go.
Lu Zhaozhao gripped around Song Sinian’s waist even tighter.
She rubbed her small face against his chest, her eyes silently reddening.
Damp vapour fell onto Song Sinian’s shirt. Feeling something, he looked down at the person buried in his arms and gently patted her back.
Lu Zhaozhao’s body shuddered, and half of her small face subtly peeked out.
Tears clung to her eyelashes, and with a slight twitch of her eyes and eyebrows, they followed the lashes to the reddened corners of her eyes.
Song Sinian raised his hand, his fingertip gently stroking her eyelid. Watching her obediently close one eye, allowing him to fiddle, his Adam’s apple unconsciously bobbed up and down.
Indeed, whether it was taking a photo or a hug, he always felt something was missing. It wasn’t enough.
His gaze slowly drifted downward, finally resting on her rosy little mouth.
Song Sinian’s fingertip traced her cheek, gently playing with the wispy hair by her ear. He leaned down close to her ear and whispered faintly, “Do you feel better now?”
His voice was deep, his tone husky, as if he were holding back.
He had just followed her past instructions, with a hug, a pat…
Would she be upset if he wanted to do something more?
As Song Sinian spoke, the tip of his nose gently brushed against her cheek.
Lu Zhaozhao made no attempt to dodge; instead, the tickling sensation instinctively made her wrap her arms around his neck and pull him down.
“It’s so ticklish, Mr. Song…”
“Mhm,” Song Sinian’s muffled voice resonated on her shoulder, and the next second, his strong and firm hand clasped her lower back and pressed her hard against him.
The space between them was instantly compressed, and taken by surprise, Lu Zhaozhao let out a soft gasp and found herself firmly against his chest.
The warm touch ironed into Lu Zhaozhao’s fair skin through the thin layer of fabric.
“Is this okay?” His deep voice carried an inexplicable urgency, mingling with warm breath near her ear.
Held tightly in his embrace, Lu Zhaozhao couldn’t see his expression, but she could clearly feel the furious beating of his heart against the chest she was pressed up to.
“Thump, thump,” each beat louder than the last, matching hers.
Was Song Sinian being coquettish?
She didn’t answer Song Sinian, yet her somewhat disordered breathing slowly started to move in the direction he desired.
She was so soft and fragrant; each time he held her, the sweet scent made it hard for him to let go.
He wanted more…
He wanted to possess her, to lock her in a cage where he alone could touch her.
But if he really did that, would she still treat him with the same unguarded manner as now?
Song Sinian couldn’t imagine her looking at him with eyes filled with caution.
Just thinking about it made him feel suffocated.
His warm breath gradually moved downward, and his gaze couldn’t help but sweep over her fair neck.
Suddenly, as if possessed, he lowered his head and nipped at it.
Almost instantly, a distinct red mark appeared before his eyes.
Lu Zhaozhao’s skin was already pale, making the red mark stand out even more prominently.
Song Sinian slowly raised his head, seemingly very satisfied with his recent handiwork.
His fingertips gently caressed the red mark. Would this let others know she belonged to him?
Clearly still dazed from the recent events, Lu Zhaozhao lay motionless in Song Sinian’s arms, her mind preoccupied with the memory of his initiating the kiss.
Was it her imagination?
She always felt like she could faintly sense his subtle emotional fluctuations.
“Zhaozhao…”
Suddenly, someone called her name softly in her ear. Lu Zhaozhao came back to her senses and saw Song Sinian’s dark eyes intently staring at her.
She looked up to meet his gaze but remained silent.
Uncertain, he watched her, “Are you… upset?”
As he asked, his eyes briefly flicked to the red mark on her neck before shifting away.
Having done this without her consent, she must be angry, right?
“I…” Lu Zhaozhao’s lips parted to speak, but before she could finish, she saw Song Sinian unfastening the top two buttons of his shirt.
His half-open collar revealed much of his neck.
He looked at Lu Zhaozhao with particular seriousness and said, word by word, “If you’re upset, you can bite me back…”
What do you think?
