Chapter 30: Chapter 30 Just Like Her?
Lu Zhaozhao blinked her water-like eyes in confusion, “Is it a birthday present?”
Xia Wenjue gently shook his head, “No… his health isn’t good, I want to buy him a gift to cheer him up.”
Hearing his words, Lu Zhaozhao suddenly remembered seeing Xia Wenmo before, his frame slender and lacking energy.
He indeed looked sickly, and seeing Xia Wenjue a bit downcast, Lu Zhaozhao’s wariness slightly eased.
“Such an important gift, would it be inappropriate for me to help choose?” Lu Zhaozhao hesitantly spoke up.
After all, she and they were at most strangers who had met once, right?
Xia Wenjue, hearing this, shook his head vigorously, “Not at all, absolutely not!”
Perhaps feeling that his attitude just now was a bit odd, Xia Wenjue hurriedly explained, “Actually, it’s because he never likes what I buy, and just as I was in a dilemma earlier, I saw Miss Lu, so I hoped you could help…”
His words were very sincere, and Lu Zhaozhao couldn’t really delay further.
“Well, I’ll do my best,” she said, her gaze landing on the men’s accessories she had been about to select.
That young man called Xia Wenmo seemed especially frail, his entire being felt as if it had lost its sparkle.
She vaguely remembered him wearing earrings before.
He probably wouldn’t dislike something like a necklace.
Lu Zhaozhao reached out and pointed to an enamel necklace in the cabinet, “What do you think about this piece?”
The fine blue and green hues played across the pendant, sprinkled with specks of yellow, resembling a planet surrounded by a halo of light.
Xia Wenjue glanced at the tag on the jewelry that read Stella, his eyebrows slightly raising as he looked towards Lu Zhaozhao.
“Stella comes from Latin, meaning ‘stars in the night sky’; stars represent the hope of life, just like the stars in the night sky that guide the way,” Lu Zhaozhao’s eyes smiled tenderly, “I hope this gift can convey this meaning to him.”
Xia Wenjue’s mouth hung open for a while, eventually leaving only the words “thank you.”
She truly was their sister; even though it was a person she had met only once, she could still treat them with such tenderness and kindness.
“Miss Lu, I don’t know how else to thank you,” Xia Wenjue said as he took out an invitation from his pocket and handed it to her, “This is a ticket for next month’s Luna art exhibition, I hope you can accept it.”
Lu Zhaozhao initially wanted to refuse, but hearing the name “Luna,” she couldn’t resist accepting it.
This artist was her idol, one of the few female painters in the art world, yet standing strong due to her unique style.
Her paintings always brought a warm feeling, they were one of the few comforts during her difficult days in a past life.
Lu Zhaozhao looked at the art exhibition ticket in her hand, feeling a bit awkward as she tugged at the corner of her mouth, “Did I accept it too quickly?”
Her dumbfounded appearance made Xia Wenjue unable to hold back a laugh, “No, I was just worried that Miss Lu wouldn’t like this token of appreciation.”
Lu Zhaozhao quickly waved her hands, her face clearly anxious, “How could that be? How could anyone not like Luna?”
Xia Wenjue seemed to notice this as well, watching her tenderly and smiled, “I didn’t realize you liked Luna so much, it really is a special connection.”
“Uh…” Lu Zhaozhao’s brows furrowed slightly, not understanding the deep meaning in his words, and could only laugh awkwardly in response.
Fortunately, Lu Zhaozhao quickly picked out the items for Song Sinian and left soon after.
It wasn’t until Lu Zhaozhao had walked a considerable distance that Xia Wenjue tapped the button directly above his suit, “Did you hear everything just now?”
Only then did Xia Wenmo’s voice slowly transmit through the hidden earpiece, “Bring the things Zhaozhao picked for me later.”
In the video just now, he heard her words loud and clear.
Stars guiding the way in the night sky?
Just like her?
Xia Wenjue sighed lightly, “You ungrateful little brother, couldn’t you see who traveled all this way specifically to ‘accidentally’ meet Zhaozhao for you!”
However, Xia Wenmo on the other end of the video was absolutely unappreciative, “It’s obvious you want to see Zhaozhao too; you’re just using me as a cover.”
“…”
His words struck right at Xia Wenjue’s heart, leaving him speechless for a long while.
But soon, Xia Wenmo spoke again, “Big brother, when do you plan to tell everyone else that Zhaozhao is our sister?”
Sitting on the hospital bed, Xia Wenmo glanced at the stack of documents on the bedside table.
All about Lu Zhaozhao.
Since returning from the auction, Xia Wenjue had been secretly investigating Lu Zhaozhao and, had it not been for his accidental discovery, his big brother might have even kept it from him.
Xia Wenjue’s brows furrowed slightly, “I want to wait a bit longer; I haven’t figured out how to deal with Wen Jin yet.”
Although she wasn’t their biological sister, after so many years together, he couldn’t just kick her out because she wasn’t related by blood.
Upon hearing this, Xia Wenmo’s expression darkened, “Given Wen Jin’s personality, if Zhaozhao comes to our house, she will definitely be bullied by her. We really need to think about how to handle Wen Jin.”
Xia Wenjue’s lips twitched involuntarily, reminding him that out of his three brothers, apart from Lao Si; Xia Wenyan, who got along somewhat better with Wen Jin, the other two were almost always at odds with her.
Xia Wenmo being the most severe.@@novelbin@@
Xia Wenjue massaged his temples with slight headache, “Alright, you just focus on getting ready for the surgery; leave the rest to me. As for what happens with Wen Jin, don’t worry about it.”
Xia Wenmo snorted coldly, “If it weren’t for Zhaozhao, I wouldn’t bother with Wen Jin’s affairs at all. It’s just like how Heavenly Eye couldn’t see clearly, sending such a disaster to our Xia family; it turns out it was a mistake.”
Xia Wenjue couldn’t help but sigh deeply, remarking sarcastically, “For twenty-plus years, it’s the first time I’ve realized you can be as articulate as your second brother, you know?”
“…”
“Just stay quietly in the hospital for me; I’m bringing the items over now.” Xia Wenjue glanced at the time, and upon hearing Xia Wenmo’s response from the earpiece, he then hung up the call.
Meanwhile, Xia Wenmo slowly got up from the hospital bed.
He was about to store the documents from the bedside table away when he heard the nurse’s voice at the door of the ward, “Third Young Master, it’s time for your MRI now.”
“I know.” Xia Wenmo looked at the documents on the table, casually placed them into the drawer.
After finishing this, he headed straight out of the ward.
But what he didn’t know was that just after he left the ward, a figure appeared at his ward door…
What do you think?
