Chapter 50 – Familiar alley
Red Maple City, construction site.
The first thing that caught attention was a grating sound of mechanical friction. It was as piercing as a cat scratching glass, mixed with the crisp sound of metal being torn apart.
Then the first worker noticed the impending disaster: "Look!"
It was a crane.
The heavy behemoth lost balance as it sank, and its heavy shell lost balance as well. After the metal support groaned in vain, the steel giant fell down like a drunkard.
A huge shadow covered the sky, and the out-of-control crane arm rotated. The metal arm cut towards the office building outside the construction site like a sharp knife. The office workers inside, busy as bees, were completely unprepared. After hearing the first scream, they all looked out the window and ran for their lives.
A tall and beautiful girl was closer to the window, and perhaps her high heels affected her speed. She couldn't make it to a safe distance in time. The crane arm cut into the building from the outside like a breeze, and shattered glass and bricks were swept into the air.
The girl screamed and lay on the floor, the cold steel arm almost brushing against her scalp. It rampaged through the office, then cut out of the room and left.
But without giving her a chance to catch her breath, she suddenly felt the ground sink beneath her, and the floor collapsed.
The rampage of the crane arm destroyed the structure of the room, and the entire wooden floor collapsed to the next level. The wooden floor, with its strong wooden texture, was as slippery as an ice rink. The girl had no foothold and could only slide towards the broken window, screaming.
In her desperation, she randomly grabbed the metal railing of the window, which had broken in half. Her whole body was hanging outside the window, like a frightened bird.
The crane continued its rampage, and even the cockpit collapsed. The cabin door snapped open, and the workers screamed as they fell down. It seemed that the first unlucky person to be smashed into minced meat on the construction site was about to be him.
Yes, the first one, but not the last. Because just as he fell, the crane followed suit. The heavy giant opened its arms towards the earth, falling from the height of dozens of floors.
"Ah ah ah!!!"
The screaming worker in mid-air seemed to have already seen his brain splattering all over the construction site. He was so panicked that he didn't even realize when he stopped falling.
"I've got you, sir, please don't move."
A gentle voice sounded in his ear, startling the worker. He looked up and met a pair of deep and gentle eyes, and in that instant of eye contact, all his fear vanished.
"You... Superman!?"
Fear turned into surprise, and then a pleasant surprise of being saved from a desperate situation.
"Yes, don't move. We need to catch this big guy now."
Jiang Bei held the worker with one hand and simultaneously raised the height. His free right hand pressed down on the falling crane. The aluminum alloy plate of the machine was instantly imprinted with a handprint, and the heavy giant suddenly slowed down like a truck with the accelerator fully pressed suddenly hitting the brakes.
Jiang Bei exerted force with his right palm while slowly lowering the height, gradually reducing his speed. By the time he landed, his speed was almost zero.
He put the worker on the ground, freed his hands to stabilize the out-of-control equipment, and threw it onto the construction site.
Everyone escaped death, and applause thundered and cheers erupted.
Then came a scream in mid-air, and the metal railing of the office building finally couldn't bear the weight. The girl fell amidst the exclamations of the crowd.
"Ah, excuse me."
Jiang Bei waved his hand to the workers, and with a tap of his toe, he turned into a red and blue lightning bolt and rushed into the air.
The girl felt her body suddenly fall into a pair of strong arms. She was stunned for a moment, then turned her head and met a pair of resolute and reassuring eyes, as well as a gentle and handsome face that made her feel like she was bathed in a warm breeze, silently saying, "It's all right now."
In such a warm embrace, with such a handsome face, she lay in the arms of the owner of this face in a princess carry position.
The girl's fair face instantly turned red, as if steam was rising from her head. She tightly wrapped her arms around Jiang Bei's neck.
Even when she landed back on the ground, she couldn't help but think, why is this building so short? It reached the ground in an instant. Why couldn't they fly a little longer?
"Miss." Jiang Bei smiled. "You've arrived."
"Ah? Oh..."
However, the girl responded with her mouth, but she didn't loosen her grip on his arm. With a red face, she buried her head in Jiang Bei's embrace, like a little ostrich.
"I think... I might be injured. Hospital... yes, I need to go to the hospital. Can you... you know, help me with that..."
"Alright." Jiang Bei shrugged. "Hold on tight."
A minute later, Jiang Bei landed at the entrance of Red Maple Third Hospital, attracting the attention of passersby, doctors, and nurses who stopped to watch.
"Ah? We're already here?" The girl in his arms seemed unsatisfied, with a face full of regret. "Why are you so fast?"
"Cough cough." Jiang Bei quickly let her down and waved to a nurse who was staring at them with wide eyes. "This young lady needs help."
"No, I think I'm already fine... It's so amazing, what did you do? I suddenly feel better..."
"Well, that's good. Have a pleasant day."
Jiang Bei said as he took off.
For the full version, visit [ ].
"Um, okay... Pleasant, very pleasant..."The girl nodded like a pecking chick, but her hands were still unconsciously clutching his cloak, unwilling to let go.
Jiang Bei smiled, "Goodbye."
He continued to ascend, a corner of his cloak slipping from her hand.
The girl stood in place with a smitten expression and a hint of melancholy, as if she was resentful of the fact that the hospital was so close.
After finishing his field work, Mr. Superhuman didn't return directly, but took a detour and flew to Changhebin Town.
The reason... was simple.
Because the Pear Blossom Cake was finished.
But Xiao Qi still wanted more.
The shop owner seemed to remember him. As he was packaging the Pear Blossom Cake, he smiled at Jiang Bei, "Your daughter really likes our snacks, doesn't she?"
"Um... Haha."
Jiang Bei laughed it off this time. Xiao Qi's call of "Daddy" still seemed to echo in his ears, almost sending him off last time.
He quickly changed the subject, "How's your son doing?"
"Oh, he's fine," the shop owner laughed, "Remember the motorcycle incident last time? That boy was always loafing around on his cousin's motorcycle, and now, he's been hit."
Jiang Bei: "?"
You call this fine?
"Uh... It's not serious, is it?"
"A bit. He broke a leg and is still in the hospital," the shop owner shrugged, "But at least the boy can finally rest for a few days, so I think it might not be a bad thing."
Jiang Bei: "......"
Alright, the motorcycle scored a double kill. He figured this bike could probably be bragged about for a year.
After buying the food and leaving the shop, Jiang Bei turned into the alley again, preparing to find a secluded corner to take off.
The familiar time, the familiar alley, and again, the familiar unfolding.
Another guy, pale as if malnourished, with blood-red pupils, sharp fangs, and a cruel smile on his face, stood in front of Jiang Bei.
"Your blood, your taste... is top-notch." The pale man licked his crimson lips, "But it's mine now!"
Jiang Bei: "......"
No, why does this scene feel so familiar?
What do you think?
