Chapter 144: Never Let the Sang Family Fall into the Hands of Outsiders
Chapter 144: Chapter 144: Never Let the Sang Family Fall into the Hands of Outsiders
Fu Xing currently didn’t have the funds to buy his own car, let alone hire a driver, so he had to take a taxi to pick people up.
As soon as he arrived at the company building, Su Nuanying came running towards him and threw her arms around his waist, “Today, my mom made the company’s staff watch me and wouldn’t let me leave work early, so I had to wait until now to call you.”
“Xingxing, maybe we should just call it quits. No one in your family supports us being together.”
Fu Xing let her embrace him, for the first time without wrapping his arms around her in return.
“I won’t do that. They can’t stop us from being together. I can steal the household registration book, and we can get married first and then tell them,” Su Nuanying shook her head, her voice choked with emotion.
Fu Xing couldn’t help but mock her for her naivety. Given the current situation, the Su family would surely be keeping a close watch on the household registration book. How could she possibly steal it?
But after all the effort he had invested in her, he wasn’t willing to give up that easily either.
Fu Xing sighed, “That’s not good. It would hurt your family’s feelings. I don’t want to be the cause of a rift between you and them.”
“Even without you, my relationship with them isn’t that great. Fu Xing, I can’t lose you. Besides, my family just misunderstands you, that’s why they don’t like you. Time will reveal a person’s heart. I believe someday they will see the good in you.”
Su Nuanying looked up at him earnestly. She absolutely wouldn’t be knocked down by a little difficulty.
“I…”
“Fu Xing, be brave. Can you hold on a little longer, please?” Su Nuanying held his hand tightly.
“Okay, as long as you don’t give up, I won’t either.”
“Mm-hmm, then let’s get going, please. I don’t want to be taken back by my parents to work there every day.”
Su Nuanying couldn’t help but smile and urged him with a pull on his hand.
“Let’s go to my place first, but it’s a bit small, I’m sorry. I don’t yet have the means to give you a better life.” Fu Xing’s face showed a deliberate expression of guilt and self-blame.
“It doesn’t matter. As long as I’m with you, I don’t mind,” Su Nuanying was truly happy from the bottom of her heart. She even felt that she could be happy living in poverty her whole life.
As long as she could be with Fu Xing, encouraging each other forever.
“I will work hard to give you a better life soon.”
“Okay, I believe you.” Su Nuanying followed by his side, the setting sun casting a glow on their backs, at this moment, her heart was filled with joy, feeling loved.
Sang Qiao received a call from the servants at the old Sang Mansion saying that grandfather had fainted from anger on the spot. She immediately told the driver to change course and rushed to the Sang family’s old house.
When she arrived in the living room, a large group of people were already standing there, and Mr. Sang Senior was lying on the couch, with two doctors treating him.
Mr. Sang, who had been pacing anxiously, saw Sang Qiao like a savior.
“Qiaoqiao, you arrived just in time. Have your older and younger brothers transfer their shares to you. That way, you’ll be the biggest shareholder in the Sang company and have more say.”
Sang Qiao slightly furrowed her brows and ignored this remark, her gaze falling on her grandfather who was still somewhat weak.
“How is grandfather?”
“The old man will be fine. He just fainted from anger. Sang Jiao actually tricked your mother and your second and third brothers to give her their shares, and today she even showed up at the company all high and mighty!”
Mr. Sang’s voice filled with rage, not only at her going to work but also for thwarting his original plans and actions.
“Okay, is it nothing serious?” Sang Qiao raised her eyes, glancing at the doctors crouched in front of the couch.
“No, Old Sang will wake up soon,” the doctor replied with utmost respect.
The point Mr. Sang wanted to make was repeatedly ignored, which made him increasingly irritated.
“Sang Qiao! I already said your grandfather is fine; the important issue is Sang Jiao’s shares. Do you really want to watch our family’s business fall into the hands of outsiders?”
“I’m not interested in the shares or the Sang Family business,” Sang Qiao’s eyelids slightly lifted, her expression indifferent.
Mr. Sang’s eyes shifted around, then brightened. “Then why don’t you transfer the shares to me?”
“No, you can’t,” Sang Nanfeng was the first to object. He was well aware that if the shares fell into his father’s hands, Qiaoqiao would likely benefit very little in the future.
“Nanfeng! I’m your father. What do you mean I can’t?”
“You are an incompetent father,” Sang Siyang added leisurely.
“You… all of you, then what do you suggest we should do? We can’t just let Sang Jiao do whatever she wants with our family’s business,” Mr. Sang was seriously annoyed with his children.
Not a single one of them believed in him as a father, yet he also had no way to deal with them.
Again, the Sang brothers went silent. Qiaoqiao was unwilling to hold onto the shares at the Sang Family business, but that didn’t mean they could just take away Qiaoqiao’s stake.
It was an unsolvable problem.
Just as the room fell into a calm quiet, Mr. Sang Senior, seated on the sofa, slowly opened his eyes and spoke:
“Nanfeng, give the shares to Siyang. Let Siyang work at the company, and as for the club, you’re pretty much at retirement age anyway.”
“Siyang has no experience at all…” Mr. Sang still wanted to struggle on his own behalf.
“Everyone starts with no experience; that’s settled then,” Mr. Sang Senior stated firmly.
“Okay, I will manage the Sang Family business well and won’t let Sang Jiao ruin it,” Sang Siyang, who usually disliked working in the company, was not averse to the idea at this moment.
Mr. Sang Senior’s eyes revealed a sense of relief, before his gaze stiffened as he turned to Sang Zheng, speaking in a harsh tone.
“When you get back, call your wife, Sang Shen, and Sang Qingran back here—three idiots!”
“Alright,” Sang Zheng replied, feeling humiliated inside because he hadn’t done anything wrong.
“Qiaoqiao, you are very capable. I’ve heard about your company; keep up the good work,” Mr. Sang Senior said, smiling affectionately at his granddaughter, clearly pleased.
He never forced his grandchildren to do anything specific, unless they hadn’t achieved anything of note.
“Yes, I will.”
“Everyone go back; I’m not in any serious danger,” Mr. Sang Senior gestured for them to leave.
“We’ll visit you another day, then,” said Sang Nanfeng, not lingering any longer as he knew the old man would still need to talk to their mother.
He remembered the complex look in Sang Jiao’s eyes. Could someone really pretend that much?
“Alright, everybody can go except for Sang Zheng,” Mr. Sang Senior waved his hand.
The group obediently exited the mansion, Sang Nanfeng unconsciously glancing back at Sang Qiao.
Sang Siyang, as if finding the opportunity to speak with her at last, said, “Qiaoqiao, rest assured, the Sang Family business will not change hands, I will definitely make it thrive.”
“Okay,” Sang Qiao nodded nonchalantly. It was the lifetime effort of the old man—it truly shouldn’t fall into the hands of others.
“I will also lend a hand and ensure that you don’t lose a penny of your dividends!” Sang Nanfeng joined in, as if they had returned to old times.
They were siblings who used to talk and laugh freely, even though Qiaoqiao was now indifferent and seldom spoke to them.
What do you think?
