Chapter 56: Sang Shen Humbly Seeks Peace

Chapter 56: Chapter 56: Sang Shen Humbly Seeks Peace

“Dumplings are not that good,” Lu Tianxin voiced with disdain, clearly not considering that few people present could cook.

“How are they not good, just because you’re picky doesn’t mean the kids are,” Meng Wangge muttered, no longer wanting to put up with her, as every time she said something, Tianxin felt the need to push back.

“I think dumplings are okay too,” Sang Jiao softly said, not necessarily siding with Meng Wangge, but because her dumpling-making skills were rather decent, a skill she had previously learned specifically to please the Sang Family.

Her older brother had already been disappointed in her, and her online friends didn’t have a strong impression of her, so she needed to seize this opportunity to make an impression on him, hoping to reignite his memories of her.

As for what the kids liked to eat, that was of little importance to her.

“Sang Qiao, what do you think?” Sang Shen unconsciously moved toward her.

“It doesn’t matter,” Sang Qiao responded indifferently, ignoring the gaze Sang Shen threw her way.

“If no one else has any objections, let’s settle on this,” Gu Nanmo said. Although he wanted to show off his culinary skills, cooking so many dishes by himself would be exhausting, so it might be better to make dumplings with everyone.

“Okay,” even though Lu Tianxin was dissatisfied, she could not continue to argue since everyone else had agreed.

Consequently, the group of ten began washing the ingredients needed for the dumplings, followed by chopping the meat, kneading the dough, and mixing in the seasonings.

Sang Shen, holding a brand-new kitchen knife, wanted to show off, offering, “Sang Qiao, let me chop for you.”

Si Chenli, without making a sound, blocked him and took the kitchen knife from Sang Qiao’s hand, saying, “I’ll do it.”

His chest was strong and warm against her back, making her unconsciously straighten up. She moved aside to stir the minced meat with chopsticks.

“I’ll add the seasoning then.”

“Mm,” the man chuckled softly, his hands moving rapidly and powerfully, quickly mincing the meat into a mashed consistency.

The two, as if oblivious to the people behind them, busied themselves with their respective tasks.

Feeling ignored, Sang Shen’s grip on the kitchen knife tightened, it was clear that Sang Qiao didn’t want to talk to him, nor did she need his help.

He bitter-sweetly smiled and went back to his own spot to chop meat.

“Sang Emperor, did you have an argument with Sang Qiao?” Liang Mengyun could clearly sense his dejection.

But she didn’t understand, if the Sang Emperor really cared about Sang Qiao, why did he help Sang Jiao bully her in the first place?

“Yes, we are still fighting,” Sang Shen replied, using that as a way to soothe himself.

“It’s actually quite easy to appease girls, just be patient, cater to their interests, and admit your faults, usually, they will reconcile.”

Liang Mengyun couldn’t help but add a few more words, noticing previously how similar Sang Jiao and Sang Qiao looked, but never thought much of it.

“I understand, thank you,” Sang Shen said, as if he saw hope for the first time. Hadn’t Sang Qiao always wanted them to celebrate her birthday and give her gifts?

Then this year, he would spare no expense to prepare a grand birthday feast for her. Perhaps she would be touched and might even forgive him.

“If you need any help, just let me know, we have known each other for so long, we’re friends, right?” Liang Mengyun’s breathing nearly stopped in her anxiety.

She didn’t know if her words would repel the Sang Emperor, but she was eager to know if their relationship could progress further.

“You’re right,” Sang Shen replied noncommittally, his mind filled with plans for the birthday party.

Yet, those simple words filled Liang Mengyun with immense joy.

Once everyone finished preparing the dumpling filling and wrappers, they started making dumplings.

Gu Nanmo and Sang Jiao wrapped dumplings quickly and prettily, and they were also very patient in slowing down their movements to teach the other guests.

When the same steps reached Meng Wangge’s hands, the resulting dumpling looked like a pile of shit.

Lu Tianxin mocked without any courtesy, “What did you wrap here? The shape is so weird. If the next one is still like this, you might as well eat it yourself, don’t harm the children.”

Meng Wangge: “…”

Then, Lu Tianxin, full of confidence, grabbed a piece of dumpling wrapper and started wrapping, but the filling burst out immediately. @@novelbin@@

[“Hahaha, these two are going to kill me, neither of their wrappings is any better.”]

[Jiaojiao and Gu Nanmo’s wrappings are really beautiful, skillful and delicate.]

[Sister Meng Yun’s is also not too bad, though not pretty in shape, at least it didn’t burst open, and it didn’t look as unbearable as Meng Wangge’s.]

“Do you know how?” Sang Qiao, holding a dumpling wrapper in her hand without making a move, asked the man beside her in a low voice.

“Let’s try.” The man chuckled lightly, started to pinch it, and immediately tore the dumpling wrapper.

The dumpling in Sang Qiao’s hand was not much better, round and puffy, not quite like a dumpling, but still a dumpling; she surreptitiously placed it on the plate.

She thought no one noticed, but then she heard the man’s deep, magnetic voice by her ear, “Very cute.”

“Just ordinary.” Sang Qiao accepted the compliment with a slight sense of guilt.

A large basin of dumplings had mostly unattractive shapes, with just a few beautifully shaped.

When they were cooked, Sang Jiao specifically picked out several of her own beautifully shaped dumplings and put them in a bowl, walking over to Sang Shen, “Second brother, eat this.”

“Leave it for the children, get me what Sang Qiao wrapped.” Sang Shen, lacking enthusiasm, focused on picking out the one Sang Qiao wrapped in the pot.

Sang Jiao’s face colored slightly; she had wrapped them so beautifully, but second brother didn’t want them and instead wanted Sang Qiao’s ugly-shaped ones?

“This should be the one Sang Qiao wrapped.” Sang Shen seemed not to notice her discomfort, picking up the round dumpling with chopsticks.

Sang Jiao was even more displeased but still kept a smile, “Second brother, why not give mine to Qiaoqiao then? It could also let her know the sincerity of our apologies.”

“Right, I’ll take it to Sang Qiao.” Sang Shen paused in his action, grabbing the bowl and walking away.

Sang Qiao and Si Chenli sat in a corner, looking at their ugly-shaped dumplings.

When Sang Shen arrived, he crouched down, “Qiaoqiao, these are better for you.”

Sang Qiao saw at a glance the beautifully shaped dumplings, which, if she wasn’t mistaken, were wrapped by Sang Jiao.

His appeasing demeanor did not touch her but rather repelled her.

“No need, stay away from me.”

“You have to eat dumplings anyway, take this and I’ll leave. These are nicely wrapped, thin-skinned and meaty.” Sang Shen, facing her cold gaze, smiled awkwardly.

“I don’t think they look nice, take them away.” Sang Qiao’s clear black and white eyes glanced at him.

Sang Shen, lost by her look, had no choice but to stand up with the bowl, “Don’t be mad, if you don’t like them I’ll take them away immediately.”

As he walked away, he could still faintly hear Si Chenli’s voice, “Not even as good as those you wrapped.”

Only then did Sang Shen realize how foolish he was to bring and praise Sang Jiao’s wrappings to her; he should have praised what Sang Qiao wrapped.

His complex inner thoughts were unknown to Sang Qiao, but Si Chenli’s compliment left her in silence.
