Chapter 59: Chapter 59: Qiaoqiao Once Knelt for You at a Busy Banquet
“I’ve celebrated your birthday before, but never once have I celebrated Qiaoqiao’s, and she has never come to accuse me.”
“Besides, Jiaojiao, must you insist on being stubborn? I’ve already had someone check the chat records; they’re fabricated.”
Sang Shen’s gaze followed her intensely. He hadn’t intended to be so blunt, but Jiaojiao kept harping on the matter, exhausting all of his patience.
Upon hearing this, the plate in Sang Jiao’s hand crashed to the ground. She hastily picked it up, her heart pounding wildly. She opened her mouth to explain but didn’t know what to say.
“You say you know L, yet you didn’t even know he was supposed to come tonight. Jiaojiao, I’ve given you many chances to come clean, which you didn’t value. Initially, I planned to go along with you to the end, but you’ve forced my hand to make you realize your lies have been exposed sooner.”
Sang Shen couldn’t just dismiss all of Jiaojiao’s efforts and kindness toward him because of this incident.
Nor could he be completely indifferent; if Jiaojiao hadn’t taken the credit, he wouldn’t have hated Sang Qiao so much, and it wouldn’t have escalated to the current situation.
“Knowing all this, why did you still have me meet L at the airport tonight? Was it because you wanted an opportunity to spend time with Qiaoqiao?”
Sang Jiao stared at him with reddened eyes, her heart filled with unwillingness.
“Yes, as you’ve seen, Sang Qiao isn’t willing to deal with me, but now that you’ve admitted it, there’s no need for all this trouble. Jiaojiao, you’ll help me ask for Qiaoqiao’s forgiveness, right? You don’t want our family to be at odds with each other like enemies, do you?”
Sang Shen admitted he harbored some resentment toward Jiaojiao. If only she hadn’t insisted on claiming Qiaoqiao’s room, if only she had forced them to see Qiaoqiao after the movie premiere, if only…
But Jiaojiao was always only verbally concerned, never forceful enough in her attitude. @@novelbin@@
When Sang Shen thought about how Jiaojiao underwent facial reconstruction surgery and even took a stabbing for him to alleviate their longing for each other, he couldn’t bring himself to resent her any longer.
Neither Jiaojiao nor Qiaoqiao was to blame; he was the one at fault.
“I understand. I’ll help you seek Qiaoqiao’s forgiveness. I’ll apologize to her for the matter with L. I assumed responsibility for that crime out of a desperate desire to be accepted by you, to truly be part of the family.”
Jiaojiao, while feeling aggrieved, still placed herself in a weak position.
It seemed as long as Sang Qiao was alive, her status would be impacted. Regardless of how fiercely they fought, there was still hope for reconciliation. As for her, she dared not act capriciously.
It wasn’t fair, not fair at all!
Someday, she would make sure that Sang Qiao would disappear from this world forever, completely!
“Alright, let’s go.” Sang Shen withdrew his gaze, completely oblivious to the turmoil and indignation in her heart.
As Sang Jiao approached, the others had finished eating and gone inside, while Sang Qiao had just picked up her plate, planning to leave.
Sang Jiao called out to her, “Qiaoqiao, wait a moment, I want to apologize to you.”
Sang Qiao stopped in her tracks, somewhat surprised. Was Sang Jiao not going to be stubborn until the end? Or arrange some accident along the way? It truly didn’t make sense.
Sang Jiao looked around and saw that the surveillance cameras were placed far away, and everyone was busy eating, so she felt a bit more at ease.
“I was wrong about L’s situation; I shouldn’t have taken your credit. We don’t need to go to the airport tonight, the Second Brother believes you.”
Sang Jiao took a deep breath, her attitude sincere, “Qiaoqiao, I’m sorry. It was wrong of me to misunderstand and hurt you.”
“L wasn’t even coming, you really are easily frightened,” Qiaoqiao chuckled lightly; the corners of her lips lifted.
Sang Jiao’s eyes widened in disbelief. So, had Sang Qiao been bluffing them from the beginning?
Could it be… L wasn’t invited by Sang Qiao either?
But without evidence, she couldn’t act rashly, especially since the Second Brother was now on Sang Qiao’s side.
Sang Jiao forced a few tears out, “Qiaoqiao, it’s fine if you deceive us, but I really didn’t hire L. I was just so desperate to have a family that I impersonated someone else in the heat of the moment. Can you forgive me?”
“No, I can’t.” Sang Qiao looked at her pitiful appearance with interest.
Did she think it was still the time when she could achieve her goals by crying a little?
Unfortunately for Sang Jiao, she miscalculated. The Sang Family couldn’t be swayed by her anymore.
“Then what do I need to do for you to forgive me?” Sang Jiao still endured in silence.
In the past, her second brothers always couldn’t stand to see her being bullied. That’s still the case now, isn’t it? She had already given in so much, but Sang Qiao was still being unreasonable.
“Show some sincerity, like when I apologized to you. Then I will consider whether to forgive you or not.”
Sang Qiao spoke unhurriedly, her clear eyes flashing with a hint of sarcasm.
“Qiaoqiao, you…” Sang Jiao’s face turned ashen. That… would that mean she had to apologize on her knees?
“Jiaojiao, when the camera is off later, go kneel in front of Sang Qiao’s door,” Sang Shen also recalled how their arguments in the past always ended with Sang Qiao being in the wrong.
Then they would make Sang Qiao kneel and apologize, and if she refused, they would threaten to kick her out.
Back then, Sang Qiao would always kneel quietly at the villa entrance, outside Jiaojiao’s room door, sometimes for hours.
“Second brother, would that be inappropriate? What if someone passes by?” Sang Jiao, frightened, turned pale. Even if no one saw her, she wouldn’t be able to kneel.
“Sang Qiao once kneeled at the entrance of a banquet to apologize to you,” said Sang Shen, his heart aching.
How could he have been so cruel at that time? Sang Qiao had said she didn’t steal anything and didn’t cut up Jiaojiao’s dress, so why didn’t he believe her?
He even made her kneel next to the busy entrance. Looking back now, he felt like slapping his former self.
“I… I…” Sang Jiao could only look at her second brother with tearful eyes, trying to soften his heart.
Sang Qiao had no interest in watching their hypocritical displays and left with a plate in hand.
Meng Wange had just been peering through the window for a long time, observing them. It looked like a quarrel, but not quite. Her curiosity was truly piqued, but she was too far away to hear anything.
Now that she saw Sang Qiao come in, she really wanted to ask, yet she was afraid of asking something she shouldn’t.
She simply kept her mouth shut and followed Sang Qiao, pondering over what to say.
“Aren’t you going upstairs to rest? We have a live stream tonight.” Seeing her dazed look, Sang Qiao reminded her.
“Holy shit, I almost forgot that I have to sell merchandise tonight.” Meng Wange smacked her head, feeling like an idiot. She hadn’t even had time to see what they were selling.
Sang Qiao let out a light laugh and followed her upstairs, vaguely having heard the director say that today’s top three had to sell merchandise; it was likely their group needed to, too.
When she returned to her room, she saw Si Chenli holding several notebooks in his hand.
Sang Qiao’s delicate brows slightly furrowed, “Are we selling notebooks?”
“Yes, and pens are included as gifts,” the man said, picking up a neutral ink pen from the other side.
“How about you do the selling? Last time, I did all the hawking for the gum.” Sang Qiao pulled up a stool and sat beside him, examining the notebooks and pens in her hands.
While the pens weren’t great looking, they wrote quite well, and the notebook paper was thick.
Si Chenli raised his eyebrows slightly, motioning her to look at the computer, “We’ve already sold a bit.”
What do you think?
