Chapter 504: 380, Dating and revisiting familiar places

Gazing at the direction where the two had disappeared, Anna clutched her face, her heart pounding with excitement.

If those two really went to a lovers’ hotel… she’d have to hide under the bed to enjoy the show!

Poor fools, Lin Da and Lia, had no idea that they had already fallen into the trap she had set.

All the lovers’ hotels nearby Auntie’s Cake Shop had been bribed by Anna.

The moment before Lin Da and company entered, Anna could use the staff passage to hide under the bed ahead of time and wait for them!

As for her presence… Anna had a piece of high-quality magical equipment that could conceal her, even if she was just a wall away from Lin Da, without being detected.

...

Although she felt that the relationship between the two wouldn’t develop so quickly, it was better to be safe than sorry.

The soul of the victim inside Anna was burning fiercely!

Following Kami and Aiko, Anna also went after them.

It took about half an hour for Lin Da to drive his carriage from the city center to Willow Leaf Street.

This street was located at the northwest side of Sparrow District,

a branch of the city public library, some snack bars, taverns, and underground casinos… they were all situated here, making it a fine place for adventurers to unwind after returning from the World Tree.

Lin Da pulled on the reins, stopping the carriage.

He took out a portable horse-tying post from his Space Ring, which adhered to the ground like a magnet.

There was an open-air breakfast restaurant nearby, and although it had just started to light up outside, every wooden table was already filled with patrons.

The fragrance of milk and bread wafted over with the wind.

This familiar scent brought back more memories for Lin Da.

The Snow Goose Adventure Team could just about fill such a small wooden table, and on days when they didn’t have time to prepare breakfast, a glass of milk with bread laden with lots of bacon, greens, and cheese was enough before they set out for the wilderness.

As Lin Da was tying the horse and reminiscing, strange glances came his way from the breakfast restaurant.

The carriage Lin Da was driving seemed out of place in the poor and backward Sparrow District: his horse had a coat of pure black fur, its breathing was deep and heavy, like the low growl of a lion. The horse’s hooves were extraordinarily wide, and the Horseshoes embedded with them glittered with a cold light, faintly resonating with a trace of wind-based magic power.

In a place like Willow Leaf Street, where low-tier adventurers, wanderers, and the poor gathered, owning a carriage meant wealth, and the carriage pulled by black-blooded horses—just a single horseshoe was worth more than most of them could claim.

When Lin Da’s carriage appeared on Willow Leaf Street, it was like a well-dressed noble walking into a group of vagrants with shoes so worn their toes stuck out. Attracting attention was inevitable.

“That carriage must cost a few thousand Gold Coins, huh? Sheesh, rich people.”

“A few thousand? Heh, you mean several tens of thousands! Haven’t you seen who the owner is?”

“Looks familiar, like I’ve seen him in the papers…”

A group of adventurers murmured to each other.

Lin Da had long been accustomed to being appraised and criticized, and he didn’t pay any mind to those people. He opened the door of the carriage and called down Lia.

If Lin Da’s carriage generated a wave of discussion, when Lia, wearing a cap and with her flaming red hair cascading down to her waist, stepped out of the carriage, it caused a complete sensation.

Intense gazes were thrown her way, and the eyes of onlookers seemed glued to her, utterly unable to look away.

In a place as dirty and disorderly as Willow Leaf Street, one seldom saw beautiful female adventurers, and top-tier beauties like Lia were even rarer.

“Guys, stop eating and look! If you don’t look now, she’ll be gone in a bit!”

“Damn?!”

“Although she’s a bit small in the bear department, she’s really pretty! Guys, I’m going in—maybe I’ll get lucky and take her home!”

A leopard-beastman with dyed yellow hair and earrings, chuckled as he rubbed his hands and walked over to Lin Da and the others.

“Hello, I’m Pick, a genius adventurer with hopes of reaching level 10. Miss, would you like to have a drink at the Great Drum Tavern? My treat?”

Pick, hands pocketed, smirked and sauntered toward Lia.

Halfway there, Pick regretted his decision.

The girl’s face under the cap became increasingly clear.

That assertive red hair, eyes that seemed to burn with flames, all made Pick’s heart skip a beat.

How did this disaster come back to Willow Leaf Street!?

But it was already too late for regret, Pick chuckled nervously standing in front of Lia, his legs shaking like a sieve, almost ready to kneel down.

Lia, “Get lost.”

“Yes, I’ll get lost right away!”

Pick, as if pardoned, scurried back to his seat.

His back was soaked with cold sweat, his complexion frighteningly pale.

Gripping the warm cup of milk, his hands continued to tremble, spilling it all over his pants.

“What’s the matter with you? Can’t even flirt with a little girl, you’re such a loser!”

The people at the table looked curiously at Pick, and some even taunted him. But Pick didn’t say a word, keeping his head down tightly.

It was only after the couple had walked far away that Pick’s trembling slowly subsided, and he took a deep breath.

“Damn it, I didn’t see clearly because of the hat, that guy… is the ‘Ghost of Willow Street,’ Lia!”

The noise at the table fell silent.

Everyone showed a look of surprise and uncertainty.

“Hey, Pick, are you sure you didn’t see wrong? Is it that Lia who fought from the south end of Willow Leaf Street to the north, and sent more than thirty adventurers to the hospital?”

“Impossible! I remember her as a very earthy violent gorilla woman, how could that fashionably dressed beautiful girl just now be her?”

“If that person is Lia, I’ll eat shit.”

Pick was furious, “Are you doubting the eyes of ‘King of Hunters’ Pick? Who else but that Lia, who has become a Star-ranked adventurer and whose name resonates throughout White Dove City, could scare me, Pick, into wetting my pants? Do you think my title ‘King of Hunters’ is just hot air?”

A companion with a bear’s head glanced at Pick’s crotch and his expression changed subtly, “Good grief, it seems Pick isn’t lying, that redhead beauty who just walked by is really Lia!”

Only then did everyone realize, they had unwittingly walked right past the Gate of Hell, and were suddenly frightened stiff.

“But one thing is very strange… with Lia’s temperament, we should have our heads buried in the ground by now, why are we still alive and well?”

The bear-headed man said in puzzlement.

Pick snorted, “That chick is out on a date; she must be in a good mood.”

“Date? That Lia? Hahaha, that’s the best joke I’ve heard this year.”

“Violent gorilla girl, I wouldn’t take her if she were gifted to me.”

“That guy must be Lin Da, right? Too tragic…”

“Yeah, pitiable.”

Everyone’s faces were filled with sympathy for Lin Da.

Daring to lay hands on such a woman, he’s asking to be chopped in two.

“Achoo!”

Lia wiped her nose with a grim face, “Weren’t those beastmen just now speaking ill of me?”

“That’s called objective commentary,” Lin Da replied without thinking.

He ignored Lia’s gloomy face, and looking at the old street, he was filled with emotion, “Luckily, we arrived early. If we were a week or two later, this place would also be demolished and rebuilt.”

Driving the carriage over, Lin Da saw many rumbling Magic Excavators.

The old buildings were being torn down and rebuilt, and the workers were bustling about.

It wouldn’t be long before it was Willow Leaf Street’s turn.

The further he walked, the clearer the distant memories in Lin Da’s mind became.

Rather than revisiting the old place, it was more like piercing an invisible bubble, stepping into a dream of the past.

Back then, Lin Da always had his sister’s company, but now only he and Lia were left, which couldn’t help but make him feel a touch of melancholy.
