Chapter 575: 428, Joker and Overnight
The dazzling sunlight fell on the land, the sky brightened, and the temperature began to rise.
Under the sun, the two of them, oblivious to the sweat covering their bodies, didn’t part until a full three minutes had passed.
Aiko was like a puddle of soft mud, cradled in Lin Da’s arms.
“Have you thought about how many kids we’ll have in the future?” Aiko said sweetly.
“Ah?”
Lin Da was stunned, “We should consider that at least ten years from now.”
“But we can start planning now,” Aiko said, “I think ten is just right, the maximum number of people allowed into the Mystic Realm. The adventure team’s name could be ‘Ailin’ Adventure Team.”
Lin Da: “…”
That was thinking way too far ahead.
And besides,
he glanced at Aiko’s slender waist, gripped in one hand, wondering how big it would need to stretch to bear ten children.
Lin Da was a normal person, not equipped with a watermelon-sized belly!
“Are you done?”
Bervis, facing the carriage wall, awkwardly toed the ground.
This was so embarrassing, this sister of his.
She was totally giving it away for free.
Didn’t she know to get some benefits for the Holy Rock Adventure Team, like a kiss for a hundred Purple Gold Coins?
Many friends of Bervis had sisters who were brother-supporting demons.
After getting married, they’d crazily funnel resources back home.
But with Aiko, Bervis had outright given up.
Not stealing from home was already something to be grateful for.
“Cough cough, we’re done,” Lin Da awkwardly said.
Bervis turned around, saw his sister in Lin Da’s arms with flushed cheeks, and couldn’t help feeling resentment and jealousy; he had never seen such a docile Aiko in his life.
“Young man, mind your restraint!” Bervis gritted his teeth.
Without a second thought, Lin Da replied, “My whole heart is on adventuring.”
Recalling another of Lin Da’s titles, Bervis didn’t believe it for a second.
But he couldn’t watch Lin Da every day.
Bervis patted Lin Da’s shoulder, resignedly saying, “Anyway, I’m leaving Aiko in your hands.”
“I will take good care of her,” Lin Da solemnly promised.
Their gazes met.
Without words, they felt the sincerity in each other’s eyes.
Bervis suddenly felt a wave of loneliness.
From now on, his sister was thoroughly a White Dove City person.
He sighed and climbed into the carriage, heading alone towards South Rock City.
“We should head back too.”
Lin Da wrapped his arm around Aiko’s waist, smiled, and said, “We agreed on our way here. Once you rejoin, we’ll throw a joint party for Phoenix Tail Flower and Snow Goose.”
“Can I stay overnight?” Aiko blinked her large eyes expectantly.
Lin Da hesitated for a moment, as today was supposed to be Tasya’s day of Purification.
He looked towards Tasya, who had been standing silently by his side.
“I’ll follow the master’s plan,” Tasya bowed and said.
Lin Da: “Then I might trouble you…”
He and Tasya spread their wings, carrying Aiko and Klrona, and flew towards White Dove City.
The next month was likely to be tough.
The hidden bosses of level 18 [Snow Raven] and level 19 [Flame Giant].
This party was their last relaxation.
…
…
At the same moment.
In a palace enshrouded in ice fog in the Faraway Lands,
the purple-haired Dark Elf McCarthy, kneeled on one knee, presenting two contract documents to the person in the mist.
“Volgan of the Frostwolf Tribe and Romanli of the Roman Family from Cyan City have signed the contracts, pledging loyalty to you. Please accept them as Ten Star Adventurers,” she said.
As soon as she finished,
the white fog surged, and the contracts in McCarthy’s hand disappeared without a trace.
She couldn’t perceive or detect when the other party had acted.
McCarthy’s heart pounded, and she bowed her head even lower.
“We’re one person short,” a calm voice came through.
The woman in the mist frowned, showing displeasure.
Cold sweat flowed down McCarthy’s forehead.
“My lord, the Eye of True Knowledge, Lin Da, refused to sign the contract with you. But please rest assured, once he arrives at the Ice Abyss, I will surely find a way to force him…”
“No need,”
The Coldmoon Duke interrupted McCarthy, indifferently saying:
“There are many talented adventurers; we’re not lacking just one. My curiosity about him was merely because his magical power is somewhat similar to that of Dai Lian of the Dark Shadow.
Ultimately, he’s nothing but a forgery.
If he refuses to sign the contract, just remove him from the candidate list.”
Ten Star Adventurers come up every year.
But in the few decades since the Ice Abyss was established, the legendary adventurers born can be counted on one hand.
If Lin Da is unwilling, the Coldmoon Duke naturally will not condescend to beg him.
“I will follow your commands!”
McCarthy bowed and said.
Her head pressed to the ground, she carefully exited the hall.
She had intended to inform the Coldmoon Duke about the Phoenix Tail Flower Adventure Team’s challenge against the Flame Giant.
But under his powerful aura, she dared not speak another word.
McCarthy spread her Light Wings and flew back to Cyan City.
Preparing for the upcoming new student enrollment this summer.
“Besides Volgan and Romanli, the two Ten Stars, it seems two Ten Star adventurers from Dragon’s Rest Tomb will enter the Ice Abyss for training this year. Being so close to the Heretics, what exactly is the Coldmoon Duke planning…”
In McCarthy’s heart, she revered the Coldmoon Duke as a deity, but this year, he had surprisingly allowed Heretics into the Ice Abyss.
If this matter were exposed, it could very well lead to a joint crusade by the other three Great Dukes.
She couldn’t help but worry inwardly.
“Ah, ever since that shady guy disappeared, the Coldmoon Duke seems to have less and less faith in adventurers.”
McCarthy also wondered whether the rumor about Dai Lian being murdered by his teammates was true or false…
The truth of that matter seems to be known only to the Four Great Dukes and a few Demons, even adventurers like them who heard the rumor were bound by the ‘Tacit Contract.’
“I hope among this year’s youth, there is an adventurer who can replace Dai Lian.”
What do you think?
