Chapter 720: 502, Kill Sani, fragments of the Life Tear_2
Moreover, the highest commander of the Demons, Sani, was absurdly slaughtered.
The group, now headless, descended into chaos.
If they fought desperately, leveraging their numerical advantage and disregarding the cost, they might have been able to kill Lin Da.
But the Demons, being living individuals, had their own interests to consider.
No one wanted to be cannon fodder.
Thus, a truly bizarre scene unfolded on the battlefield.
Lin Da, holding Habi, was chasing down hundreds of Demons!
The Demons fled in panic, abandoning their helmets and armor, afraid of falling behind their companions.
“At the last auction, Jem, you deliberately raised my bid, didn’t you? Go to hell, you bastard!”
“You dare strike at my wings? Are you insane?”
“No, please! Spare me!”
One Demon after another fell from the sky.
Volgan and his group of dozens froze, transitioning from a tense breakout to watching blankly, doing nothing.
A quick scan of the skies revealed not a single Demon remaining.
“The person who just flew by looks familiar.” Volgan scratched his head in confusion.
[Wrestler] Mavi, standing nearby and ranked 15th on the Moon Chart, had much sharper eyes than Volgan. He muttered, “Looks like Lin Da from White Dove City.”
“Lin Da? Impossible.” Volgan was stunned. “A month ago, he couldn’t even take a single punch from me.”
“No, no, no. The one with Light Rank power isn’t Lin Da; it’s the child in his arms.” Mavi said helplessly, “If that’s really a ‘child,’ then the decades we’ve spent adventuring have been completely wasted.”
“By the way, the one who fell from the clouds—was that Sani?”
A woman with short crimson hair, wearing a top hat and a tailcoat, flew over.
“Probably. Let’s go check it out.” Volgan sighed. “With someone at Light Rank helping, the Demons are certainly retreating. Today’s battle has been utterly disrupted by Lin Da.”
“Why the tone? Don’t tell me you’re upset about it?” The short-haired woman teased with a smile.
“Of course I’m upset! My talent [Proud Wolf] had just activated, and now there’s no fight left. Do you even know what that feels like?”
“Hmm… Like when you’re with an Elf lady, and the Knights Order barges into the room?”
“You… you shameless woman! How dare you insult the brave Frost Wolf Warrior?!”
Volgan’s face turned red as he glared at Romanli.
Romanli shrugged and changed the subject. “Did you notice Lin Da’s level? If my guess is correct, the treasure in the Ancient City has fallen into his hands.”
The trio flew downward toward the forest, discussing as they went.
“Hmm, that’s highly likely. Jumping from Level 47 to Level 49, no ordinary opportunity could achieve that.” Mavi’s voice echoed from beneath his iron helmet. “In your Cangqing Province’s Ice Abyss, it’d undoubtedly earn a Ten-Star Rating.”
“This year among White Dove City’s newcomers, I haven’t seen him.” Romanli said lazily. “That little sister named Lia is somewhat interesting, but she’s still a long way from Ten Stars.”
Romanli had seen some newcomers from White Dove City during the Ice Abyss initiation ceremony, and Lia had left the deepest impression.
Her orange-red Battle Qi was highly distinctive, along with her skill called Super Charge; her future seemed boundless.
Unfortunately, this Lia was overly proud. She refused Romanli’s faction invitation without hesitation, even pointing her sword at Romanli and proclaiming she would defeat her and seize the Ten-Star Rating.
As expected, Romanli taught her a lesson. Despite this, Lia’s remarkable strength left a lasting impression, along with her harsh parting words: If it’s Lin Da, you definitely won’t win!
To be regarded so highly by Lia naturally made Romanli pay closer attention to Lin Da from White Dove City.
“Among the teams that joined the Ancient City trial, there were nearly fifty groups, mostly filled with seasoned Sunrise Levels. For him to snatch the treasure in such a difficult situation—haha, I don’t believe Lin Da is as trashy as the newspapers say.”
Romanli chuckled. “If we join forces with Lin Da, the three of us together might be able to deal with [Scar] and his group.”
[Scar] referred to the three other Ten-Star newcomers.
They showed no interest in the festivities on the 20th floor, staying within the Ice Tower to meditate and comprehend Rule Fragments—indispensable for Light Rank adventurers aspiring to reach Sacred Rank. Some with exceptional understanding began preparations as early as Moon Rank.
The Swordsman nicknamed [Scar] was already at Light Rank upon entering camp, vastly stronger than Romanli and Volgan. Otherwise, with Romanli’s pride as a scion of a top Cyan City family, she wouldn’t have begrudgingly considered an alliance.
Volgan: “If you want to seek him out, go find Lin Da yourself. I never collaborate with others.”
With a swoosh, Volgan accelerated and flew toward the ground.
“That dumb Frost Wolf!” Romanli gritted her teeth and spat angrily.
Moments later, the trio landed and found the corpse of a purple-haired young woman.
After confirmation, she was indeed Sani, the leader of the western battlefield of the Demons—[Shadow Flower].
A prodigy of the Demons, dead in such a careless fashion…
Volgan and the others couldn’t help but sigh.
This illustrated why Great Mystery Continent imposed level restrictions starting from the 20th floor. Even a single level difference, from 49 to 50, could result in a power gap of dozens of times.
The child Lin Da was holding didn’t even possess proper Skills; she only swung the most basic Hand of the Void haphazardly, yet she could still chase hundreds of Moon Rank Demons.
Romanli stared at the tragic state of the purple-haired woman’s corpse, her hands itching. Unable to resist, she pulled out a small knife and reached for the horn on the forehead.
“I suggest you don’t meddle.” Mavi warned in a muffled voice. “Loot obtained by others, even if stolen and sacrificed to the Goddess, won’t earn any reward. The Goddess is fair and won’t bless the dishonest.”
In other words, the horn on Sani’s head was only useful to Lin Da and the child. The child killed Sani, while Lin Da acted as a “mount.” His contribution was small, but still counted.
Romanli curled her lips. “I wasn’t planning to steal anything, just taking a look.”
Seeing the skeptical expressions of the other two, Romanli quickly changed her tune: “We can’t just leave the corpse here, can we? If an unaware adventurer picks it up, Lin Da would suffer a big loss.”
“That makes sense.” Volgan nodded. “Let’s help him check.”
After some rummaging around.
Sani possessed three pieces of Legendary Equipment, but unfortunately, all were bound to Magic Circuits, becoming unusable and drastically devalued.
Additionally, there were some Magic Potions of excellent quality—each bottle worth at least a thousand Purple Gold Coins on the market.
“Hmm? What’s this?”
Romanli opened a crystal box and found a translucent gem shaped like a tear drop inside.
The gemstone emitted gentle waves of magic power. Romanli had a wound on her arm from the fight, which began to itch under the gem’s light. Soon, it stopped bleeding, scabbed over, and mostly healed.
Mavi’s eyes narrowed: “A fragment of the Life Tear.”
“What? A fragment of the Tear Pearl that heals all adventurers below Heaven Rank and even repairs Magic Circuits?” Romanli’s face changed.
Even Volgan, who usually maintained a high level of composure, showed emotional reaction. His tail, slack behind him, began to sway slowly.
This item’s value rivaled that of Seven-Star Legendary Weapons.
The trio exchanged looks, seeing greed evident in each other’s eyes.
Although the rest of Sani’s belongings were precious, they were within an acceptable range, not enough to strain their relations.
But the fragment of the Life Tear was too rare—it could even summon the help of a Heaven Rank adventurer.
Romanli conjured a stack of glowing playing cards, each radiating unique magic energy, and discreetly moved closer to Volgan. Volgan wasn’t oblivious; he fixed his eyes on Mavi and issued a low growl of warning from his throat.
Yet Mavi’s expression remained deep and unreadable, as if deliberating something.
Among the three of them, Mavi was the strongest. If he harbored any greed, Romanli and Volgan would have to combine their strengths to counter him.
The pressure of Mavi, ranked 15th on the Moon Chart, was like a towering mountain, and both Romanli and Volgan began to sweat.
Mavi seemed about to raise his hand when his face suddenly changed, and he turned to look behind him.
“This Demon should be my spoils of war.”
A young man with black hair appeared like a specter and stated coldly.
In his arms, the little girl mimicked his demeanor, staring coolly at Mavi with her adorably frosty expression. She raised her small hand, and an overwhelming surge of magic coalesced into two glowing golden palms.
“Uh…”
Mavi quietly shut down his Magic Circuit.
What do you think?
