Chapter 134: Chapter 134: Glistening
“Come back here,” Jiang Changtao suddenly raised his voice.
Startled, Sun Lixia patted her chest with residual fear and said, “Changtao, why are you yelling like that?”
Jiang Changtao, with a darkened face, spoke in a low voice, “No matter how much of a mess the Eldest is, he’s still my biological brother. Aren’t we a family tied by blood and bone? You going to report him, do you want the people of the Old Jiang Family to be pointed at and talked about behind their backs when we go out?”
“You think of him as a brother, but he doesn’t consider you a brother! We work from dawn to dusk in the fields every day, and when it comes time to divide grain at the end of the year, he stashes the money he makes right into his own pocket. Why should we be bullied like this?!”
Sun Lixia was becoming more agitated as she spoke, “Just look at how much money he has made recently. Has he ever thought about helping his biological brother out?”
Of course, she was just saying this; she didn’t really want her husband to get involved in speculative dealings.
In fact, without her saying it, Jiang Changtao felt resentful towards Jiang Changhai in his heart.
How could his brother not know that he was short on money?
His two sons would need money for their education and marriages in the future.
Clearly, the Eldest had such a good way of making money, but he had never thought to get him involved!
But resentment aside, when it came down to stabbing his brother in the back, he truly couldn’t bring himself to do it.
His face, however, showed a disdainful expression as he said, “What he does is his business, but we can’t engage in speculative business! Such things are dishonorable, and you shouldn’t talk about them outside, either. If word gets out, it would bring shame to the Jiang Family. And if the kids at school find out that Zhiwen and Zhiwu have an uncle who speculates, they will surely look down on them. So keep this matter to yourself, got it?”
Thinking of her two sons, Sun Lixia agreed reluctantly with a nod, “I won’t talk about it, then.”
Meanwhile, in the adjacent main house, the mood was light and cheerful.
“Brother Hai, how did the sales go today?”
The recent incident didn’t dampen Jiang Changhai’s good mood in the least.
With a grin, he pulled out the money from his pocket, “With your man and me in charge, what can’t we sell? Look, all this money is from selling pumpkin seeds today.”
“Brother Hai, you guys are amazing, earning so much money today,” Su Wanyu always had generous praise for her husband.
While praising, she counted the money, totaling sixteen yuan and fifty cents.
“Brother Hai, how many catties of pumpkin seeds did you sell today?”
Jiang Changhai spread out casually on the bed, “We fried twenty catties, but we scorched three or four catties at the start, so we used up about twenty-five catties in all today.”
“Twenty-five catties, that’s a little over five yuan in costs. My goodness, we made nearly eleven yuan in just one evening, which is more than a month’s worth of labor in the fields,” Su Wanyu figured out the tally, excitement coloring her cheeks a soft, rosy hue, as her beautiful features glowed with a certain delicacy.
Jiang Changhai stared, entranced, and swallowed hard with a “gulp” sound—they hadn’t been intimate for quite some time.
Jiang Mianmian: …suddenly felt like she and Yu Cheng were shining brightly.
Su Wanyu, feeling a bit embarrassed, nudged him, reminding him that the two children were still around.
“Ahem, we sure didn’t earn a little,” he cleared his throat.
Jiang Changhai spoke with seriousness, “After subtracting costs, we have eleven left. Buddy Yu, we split it evenly, five yuan and fifty cents each. You don’t have any objections, right?”
Yu Cheng naturally had no objections. He provided the ideas and Jiang Changhai the capital; going into business together and splitting the profits evenly, neither of them would lose out.
What do you think?
