Chapter 141: Chapter 141 I Want To Be With You
Hearing that, Yu Cheng curled his lips in a rather mocking way.
His dad’s temper flared up not because he was worried about him, but because he felt he had embarrassed him.
“All of us brothers are really worried about you, afraid something might happen to you on the way blah blah blah…”
Cheng An had been talking for a while and, when he didn’t hear Yu Cheng’s voice, he raised his volume and asked, “Hey, Boss Yu, are you still listening to me?”
“I’m listening,” Yu Cheng acknowledged, knowing that he cared and was patiently listening for once.
“Oh, that’s good. I thought you had hung up.”
Cheng An knew he was a bit of a chatterbox, but he couldn’t help talking on, “Boss Yu, is everything going smoothly over there? Is there anything that a brother can help you with?”
Yu Cheng said, “Yes, I’ve lost my tickets and money. Send me some over, and I’ll give you the address. But don’t tell my dad about this, I’ll pay you back when I return.”
He didn’t trust Cheng An’s loose lips, so he made a point of warning him.
“Big guy, are you mocking me or what? With our relationship, why even talk about paying back or not,” Cheng An said, pretending to be upset because Yu Cheng was treating him like an outsider.
“I’m not treating you like an outsider; it’s just that Brother doesn’t lack these little things. Send them as soon as you can. I’m busy with something here and will call you later.”
“Alright, I’ll send it first thing tomorrow morning.”
After ending the call, Yu Cheng saw the little girl standing by the counter and walked over to ask, “See anything you like? I’ll buy it for you.”
Clearly, his mood was quite good after the call.
“I didn’t find anything,” Jiang Mianmian shook her head, as she was just looking around
Even though she said that, Yu Cheng still bought her a stick of candied hawthorn fruit.
“Thank you, Brother Yu,” Jiang Mianmian said thanks, accepting the candied hawthorn fruit with a voice both soft and sweet.
Then she bit into a piece, her eyes curving in bliss, finding the sour and sweet treat extremely delicious.
Seeing her face light up with happiness from eating a candied hawthorn fruit, Yu Cheng curiously asked, “Is it really that tasty?”
“It’s delicious! Brother Yu, do you want to try some?” Jiang Mianmian offered the candied hawthorn fruit politely, knowing it had been bought with his money.
But that was just a courtesy; after all, Yu Cheng looking like a young master used to a life of luxury, probably wouldn’t fancy these street snacks.
Yu Cheng initially wasn’t fond of such things, but noticing her insincerity, his mischievous streak kicked in.
“Alright, let me try,” Yu Cheng said, and then leaned down to bite into one.
Not expecting him to actually eat it, Jiang Mianmian was momentarily stunned, then somewhat distressedly asked, “How is it? Tasty, isn’t it?”
Yu Cheng chewed a couple of times, finding it just okay, but deliberately looked at the half-stick remaining in her hand and said, “Hmm, tasty.”
Jiang Mianmian: “…Then have another piece?”
A stick of candied hawthorn fruit only had four pieces, and she already got two for free, which was a gain in itself.
Yu Cheng immediately smiled and said, “Just teasing you, I don’t like it. You eat.”
After teasing the little girl, Yu Cheng used the remaining money to buy three pounds of pork.
Having stayed at the Jiang family’s house for so long without paying, now that he had some money, he of course wanted to buy something to repay the favor.
When Cheng An sent over the tickets and money he had asked for, he gave it all to Uncle Jiang’s family.
Having bought the meat, Yu Cheng then said to Jiang Mianmian, “Little Lamb, I’m going to sell melon seeds later; I’ll drop you off at Old Man Zheng’s place first. Wait for me there, and I’ll come to pick you up after I’ve finished selling.”
Nibbling on her candied hawthorn fruit, Jiang Mianmian said, “I don’t want to go to Uncle Zheng’s house. I’ll go sell melon seeds with you.”
What do you think?
