Chapter 145: Chapter 145 Standard of a Son-in-law
“Uncle Jiang, let’s go find my uncle tomorrow,” Yu Cheng said, looking at Jiang Changhai.
“Sure, we’ll go early tomorrow,” Jiang Changhai patted his shoulder and readily agreed.
He now had a particularly good impression of Yu Cheng, not only because he was good-looking and strong, capable of enduring hardship, but he was also sharp-witted.
He was planning to find a son-in-law for his daughter someday, and he would use the same criteria as for Yu Cheng!
Of course, he had never considered Yu Cheng for that role, since he was from the Capital City, with a well-off family, surely not eager to come to the countryside to be a live-in son-in-law!
Jiang Changhai saw that the light was still on in his mother’s room, so he took a small bag, filled it with two pounds of sunflower seeds, and went to the main house.
“Eldest, why are you coming over so late, is there something wrong?” Zhang Guihua asked, wrapped in her clothes, sitting on the kang bed as she looked at her eldest son who had just entered.
“Of course, I’m here to honor you. I did a small favor for a friend today, and he gave me two pounds of sunflower seeds as thanks; it’s all here, and it’s all for you,” Jiang Changhai said with a grin.
“Still remember to bring good things for your mother, I didn’t dote on you for nothing,” Zhang Guihua said with a chuckle as she took the sunflower seeds and, after grabbing a handful, locked the rest straight into the cabinet above the kang bed.
Seeing this, Jiang Changhai reminded her, “Mom, be careful not to let the sunflower seeds get damp; they won’t taste good if they do.”
“I know, I know, it’s late, go back to sleep,” said Zhang Guihua. After speaking, she split the sunflower seeds in her hand, giving half back to Jiang Changhai.

After breakfast the next day, Jiang Changhai thought he had to tell his parents that he would take Yu Cheng to find his uncle soon.
“Dad, Mom, I found out where Central China Farm is yesterday, so I’ll take Yu Cheng to find his uncle in a bit.”
Upon hearing this, Zhang Guihua’s face lit up with joy, “Go ahead, Yu Cheng has stayed with us for so long, his uncle must be missing him too. Send him over early; the reunion of nephew and uncle is also a joyous occasion.”
Oh Lord, surely you’ve heard her prayers, she could finally send off this little master who could eat so much!
Otherwise, their family’s grain supply wouldn’t last until the end-of-year distribution.
Jiang Dashan nodded and looked at Yu Cheng, “Kid, feel free to come over whenever you have time. Grandpa’s house is always welcoming you.”
Since the guest was from Capital City, building a good relationship could benefit his own grandchildren in the future.
“I will. Grandpa, Grandma, thank you all for taking care of me during this time,” Uncle and Aunties,
Yu Cheng said politely and formally, clearly not as close to the other members of the Jiang family as he was to the main branch.
The Jiang family’s children were all very reluctant to see Yu Cheng leave.
They had played together for so many days and regarded him as an older brother, and besides, he was good at every game.
But they knew that Yu Cheng was here to find relatives and was just staying at their home temporarily; he couldn’t stay here forever.
When Jiang Changhai and Yu Cheng left the house, the kids even escorted them out of the village.
Jiang Changhai joked when he saw this, “Buddy Yu, I didn’t realize you were so popular, considering how quiet you usually are; you don’t talk much. Seeing how reluctant my kids are to let you go, it’s like I’m the bad guy here.”
Yu Cheng looked back at the children following behind him and waved to Jiang Mianmian, “Little Lamb, come here.”
“Why are you calling me? You’re about to leave, and I’m not going to fuss over you calling me like a pet,” Jiang Mianmian replied.
Yu Cheng raised an eyebrow, “Seeing that glum look on your face, could it be you’re sad that Brother Yu is leaving?”
What do you think?
