Chapter 32: Chapter 32 Mom, Give Money
Actually, he didn’t care much about eating and drinking; being full was satisfaction enough, and he would gladly give any good food to his wife and child.
But his wife had said that they couldn’t spoil their daughter too much; otherwise, she might develop the habit of eating alone and not be filial when she grew up.
Su Wanyu was different, though; she loved to compete with her daughter for food. She seemingly sipped delicately from Eldest’s cup, but the water level still dropped noticeably.
Jiang Mianmian didn’t mind. She took the bowl and drank heartily, to the envy of the other girls licking their lips.
Er Ya thought to herself, if she could read like San Ya, would Grandpa also give her sweet water to drink?
And Jiang Dashan, watching the two girls finish drinking, added, “Once you’ve rested enough, you can continue with the lessons. We’ll make sure not to speak loudly and disturb you.
Zhao Xiaojuan, who was nearby, quickly said, “Aibao, could you also teach Da Ya and Er Ya? Just for a few hours every day during the noon break.”
The two girls immediately looked at Lin Aibao with hopeful eyes: “We’ll study hard, we promise.”
“Okay.”
Lin Aibao, now brimming with enthusiasm for teaching, agreed without a second thought. @@novelbin@@
They were all sisters, after all. Who knows, they might be as smart as Mianmian.
“But I only have one set of textbooks. You’ll have to share with Mianmian.”
Upon hearing this, Jiang Mianmian immediately said caringly, “I don’t need it, let them use it. Besides, I’ve already learned the first few texts; Eldest and Second Eldest need to start from the beginning, so we can’t study together due to different progress.”
Lin Aibao considered this and agreed, realizing Mianmian could listen to the lessons all day, whereas Da Ya and Er Ya only had about two hours before noon to study, necessitating a repeat of the same content.
So she nodded and said, “Alright, when Da Ya and Er Ya are in class, you can rewrite what you’ve learned.”
“No problem.” Jiang Mianmian was of course all for it; she could finally lie down on the bed and rest.
But as soon as she entered the room and before she took off her shoes, her mom said, “Finish your homework before you lie down.”
Jiang Mianmian blinked innocently, “But I don’t have a pen or a homework book.”
She said this while kicking off her shoes and climbing into bed, lying down comfortably.
Hearing this, Su Wanyu and Jiang Changhai exchanged glances, realizing they had forgotten about that.
“Wait a minute.” Jiang Changhai turned and went to the next room. “Laosan, borrow Zhiwen and Zhiwu’s pens and homework books for Mianmian to use.”
Sun Lixia forced a smirk and said, unconvincingly cheerfully, “Big brother, what a coincidence. Zhiwen and Zhiwu’s pens ran out at school.”
Paper and pens were precious, and she was reluctant to lend them to someone else’s child.
“Is that so, Laosan?” Jiang Changhai raised an eyebrow, giving Jiang Changtao a meaningful look.
Jiang Changtao felt a bit uneasy, but said awkwardly, “Yes, the kids haven’t had pens for their homework these past few days. But we still have some homework books left, I’ll go find them.”
He stood up to look for the homework books, not considering that they were useless without a pen.
“No need.”
Jiang Changhai turned around and walked out, calling loudly before he even left the doorway, “Mom, give me some money. I need to buy pencils and homework books for Mianmian.”
“School hasn’t started yet, no need to buy anything! Borrow from Laosan; he’s got some in his room,” the old lady shouted back, her voice raw. The amount of money her eldest son had swindled from her was no small sum.
As soon as her words ended, her towering son was already standing in front of her, reaching out to her firmly, “Laosan’s wife won’t lend any, give me the money.”
His voice was not hushed, and upon hearing him, Sun Lixia nearly slipped and fell flat on her face.
What do you think?
