After Marrying the Officer

Chapter 20 - 20 Ready to Go

Chapter 20: Chapter 20 Ready to Go

“Chuyi is back! Come, have some dried sweet potatoes!” Upon seeing Xia Chuyi, Wang Xiaofang warmly offered them to her.

Xia Chuyi waved her hand to indicate she didn’t want any.

“I have eaten outside.”

Actually, she hadn’t eaten; she planned to eat in the space after returning to her room.

The kitchen in her space was fully equipped, with abundant materials and ingredients in the space’s warehouse—it could be said to have everything one could need.

With her own cooking skills, it was comparable to a five-star hotel.

...

You see, in her previous life, she had formally taken lessons from a descendant of an imperial chef.

Furthermore, she had discovered that time in the space was not equivalent to the outside world; spending about ten hours inside only amounted to a minute outside.

Thus, doing things in the space saved a lot of time.

Wang Xiaofang didn’t insist, but came closer while nibbling on dried sweet potatoes.

“Chuyi, let me tell you, as soon as you left, that woman followed right out after you. What do you think she went out for?”

What else could she be up to? It was to look for He Qing, of course.

Xia Chuyi just smiled and didn’t respond.

“Don’t be too naive; watch out, or she might really steal your fiancé!” Wang Xiaofang looked frustrated.

“What is meant to be mine cannot be taken away, and what isn’t, I won’t demand,” she responded.

Wang Xiaofang looked at her and shook her head: “You’re pretty generous.”

Xia Chuyi just laughed silently.

Generous? Hardly.

She just knew too well the kind of person He Qing was—disgusting and vile, not something she coveted at all.

After chatting with Wang Xiaofang a bit, she returned to her room.

“Don’t worry, I’ll keep an eye on her for you!” Wang Xiaofang, biting on her dried sweet potatoes, blinked furiously at her.

After returning to her room, she first enjoyed a feast in her space, then lay on her bed, carefully flipping through the Heavenly Book’s recipes.

Poring over the pages, she discovered some ingredients that didn’t exist in the present world, guessing this book must have come from another space-time.

However, some of the ingredient combinations were quite creative, and she found them very intriguing.

Just when she was getting engrossed, a light series of knocks—one long, two short—came from the door.

Like a secret code.

“Owl!” She heard someone imitate a bird’s call.

Wang Xiaofang?

The book in her hand flashed and transformed into a ray of light that entered her body.

Opening the door, there she was, stealthily looking around.

“Chuyi, something’s up!”

Seeing Wang Xiaofang’s underground party contact-like demeanor, Xia Chuyi couldn’t help but grin. @@novelbin@@

Coughing subtly, she lowered her voice and asked, “Tell me, beautiful comrade, what’s the situation?”

“I just heard some strange noises in Xia Lan’s room!” Wang Xiaofang whispered.

Xia Chuyi’s eyes flickered slightly.

Xia Lan was making a move?

Thinking this, she didn’t spell it out but commented, “A strange noise doesn’t necessarily mean something’s going on, does it?”

Wang Xiaofang pointed at her own head: “You’re so naive; wouldn’t we know for sure if I checked the room?”

“If there’s nothing…”

“If there’s nothing, then it’s just a real room check. You go around to the outside, just in case there really is someone who flips out the window!”

“These shameless wild mandarin ducks, they just love flipping in and out of windows!”

Wang Xiaofang spoke as though she had seen it happen.

Xia Chuyi felt a bit embarrassed.

Wild mandarin ducks, flipping through windows… it reminded her of herself and Huo Shiqian, cough cough.

Skipping over that…

After some whispered plans by Wang Xiaofang, Xia Chuyi indicated she understood and would fully cooperate.
