Chapter 1025: Chapter 1025: Probably Because You Owe Too Much

“It doesn’t matter anymore,” Ye Qiuqiu forced a smile, “If it’s not suitable then just leave. Chen Haobo’s mum was right in what she said, if love doesn’t work out, then just part ways. Am I so desperate that I can’t live without him?”

Lin Gantang wasn’t surprised by Ye Qiuqiu’s decision, and simply asked, “So, what are your plans for the future?”

Ye Qiuqiu, gently patting Qianqian, looked down, “I haven’t thought it through; I don’t want to go back to my mum’s place.”

“Why not come back to C City with me?” Lin Gantang suggested, “Move to a new city, start a new chapter.”

“But Qianqian… I need to be with her, she’s still so young.” Ye Qiuqiu knew all too well that big cities offered many opportunities, but she had attachments she couldn’t let go of.

Lin Gantang encouraged her, “You have me too, remember? I’ve said before, if you need it, I’ll do everything in my power to help.”

...

She listed her options: “The lawyers will take care of things with you and Haobo, and if you’re thinking about work, you could apply for a position at my family’s branch office dedicated to mothers, while I’ll help look after Qianqian. If you’re worried about leaving Qianqian, consider something like new media operations or teaching assistance, and I’ll provide you with the channels.”

Lin Gantang had a sudden inspiration, “You like cats, right? What if I invest in a cat cafe, and you could bring Qianqian with you to work?”

Ye Qiuqiu’s eyes misted up again.

What her husband, Chen Haobo, had done for her was far less than what her friend had done.

“Thank you, Tangtang. If it weren’t for you, perhaps I really wouldn’t have the courage to leave.”

“I’ll go with you, to C City, and start over.”

The group stayed in H City for two more days.

Lin Gantang continued the itinerary of enjoying H City’s snowy scenery because compared to herself, Ye Qiuqiu needed to relax more; Lin Gantang hoped her friend’s taut nerves could get some respite for a moment.

The forest was silent and mystical after the snow, where it seemed all the restlessness in one’s heart could be calmed.

Wen Yanqing, watching Lin Gantang and Ye Qiuqiu walk hand in hand in front of him and then looking down at Qianqian in his arms, thought, how come this child doesn’t cry out for a moment to bring her mum back?

He consoled himself: Never mind, why struggle with the disheartened?

Back in C City, Ye Qiuqiu was temporarily settled into a hotel.

Lin Gantang went back home and rummaged through the property deeds over and over, finally finding a satisfactory house and quietly having her assistant prepare the rental information.

As it happened, Ye Qiuqiu saw the specially priced rental at just the right time.

Ye Qiuqiu didn’t say much after viewing it, and decided to stay after paying the rent.

After the holiday, everyone threw themselves back into a new bout of busyness.

As usual, Lin Gantang went to inspect the reopened bookstore after the New Year, with Big Mi, who had gained a bit of holiday weight, strutting proudly out in front. The former little tyrant had grown into a big one, and no cat in the store dared to provoke it.

Yin Zhen came up next to Lin Gantang, looking at Big Mi who was now watching her warily, and deliberately provoked, “Hey, even if I touch it, what can you do about it?”

While speaking, she reached out to touch Lin Gantang’s arm and playfully tapped her belly twice.

Big Mi folded his ears back, his pupils dilated, and charged over to strike.

Yin Zhen almost cursed out loud, quickly dodging to the other side of the desk, “Lin Gantang, control your cat quickly!”

“That’s not a cat, that’s a dog that got born into the wrong body!” Yin Zhen complained while dodging, “What kind of cat protects its owner like that?”

Lin Gantang, propping her chin, mused, “It doesn’t usually act like this, maybe you’re just asking for it.”

Yin Zhen quickly surrendered.

“Big Mi, Big Mi,” Lin Gantang called out a few times.

Big Mi flicked his tail in annoyance, still wanting to continue.

Lin Gantang called out to another cat, “Ximi—”

Ximi, busy with business, turned its head and then jumped off the desk, walking towards Lin Gantang.

Big Mi: “Meow!”

He immediately glared at Ximi with a menacing look.

Big Mi looked up at Lin Gantang and let out a string of meows: “Meow meow meow, maw! Meow~!”

Yin Zhen, now rescued, remarked, “…Is it cursing at you?”
