Chapter 151: Chapter 151: You are the first person I want to give flowers to

She tilted her head curiously, “Why did you suddenly think of bringing me flowers?”

“Don’t you like them?”

Ji Tian held them tighter, “I like.”

She looked at the boy and couldn’t help but smile, “You are the first person to give me flowers.”

She then lowered her head and lovingly touched them.

“You are the first person I have wanted to give flowers to.”

Ji Tian suddenly looked up, “What?”

Qin Jiangsheng held the carnations tightly, his lips curling into a smile, “Because I like you.”

Perhaps the thrill of youthful affection happens in an instant, in a fleeting moment.

People will always be defeated by sincerity.

Ji Tian found it hard to imagine the word “like” coming from the indifferent Qin Jiangsheng.

Her heartbeat quickened, then she turned her head away, thinking it must be an illusion; her good brotherly affection had somehow gone awry.

“You, do you know what liking someone means? Just, just say it.” Ji Tian stuttered nervously, wishing she could bite her tongue off after speaking, what was she even saying?

Can this brotherly love be salvaged?

“I don’t know, can you teach me?”

Ji Tian widened her eyes in disbelief, if you don’t know what liking is, why say it! She was about to retort, puffing her cheeks, when she met his eyes, soft and gentle, and realized she’d been fooled.

“I, I… This, do you really need to be taught? You might as well stay single forever.” Her speech was faltering, and she almost bit her tongue several times, extremely annoyed at herself, what nonsense was she spouting!

“What I mean…”

“I got it, I’ll learn on my own. Can you come with me to a place?”

Ji Tian’s attempt at an explanation was immediately shut down, she licked her somewhat dry lips, muttering, “Fine, let’s go, we’re here already, why even ask me.”

Qin Jiangsheng walked ahead, and Ji Tian followed with her arms full of stars, feeling the flowers burning her hands as her mind waged a war.

I treat you like a brother, and you think about dating me?

Then she wondered if she was being too conceited. What if Qin Jiangsheng just liked her as a friend? And yet, she thought of him, always so solemn and cold, using his gaze to threaten her every time.

She couldn’t feel a hint of liking from him!

No, no, Ji Tian, think straight!

He’s the villain in this story! Later becoming heartless, almost wishing devastation upon the world.

His innocence in the early stage, she must say, she steered well, leading him towards herself, not letting him harm others.

No! Off track again! She should think of a solution.

Right, a solution…

Wait, does this mean she has conquered the villain, and hence, no more sewing in jail, the Ji Family wouldn’t go bankrupt, and with him covering for her, should she worry about not surviving past twenty-five?!

During the short ten-minute journey, Ji Tian even pondered if she ended up marrying Qin Jiangsheng, would she live in the Ji Family home or the Bai Family home?

Ji Tian constantly found herself caught in a cycle of self-response and self-denial, just because Qin Jiangsheng’s simple confession of liking her had completely shaken her confidence…

The person in front hesitated and came to a halt. Ji Tian, unable to stop in time, crashed straight into him. He spared her no assistance to steady herself, just gave her a light glance and said, “We’re here.”

Ji Tian looked at the disability rehabilitation center before her: “…”

That damned affection really was her being shameless!

“Do you have friends here?”

“No.”

A brief answer and he said no more.

Ji Tian followed him closely. There were four large buildings arranged in a U-shape, and walking in led to a neatly paved courtyard, devoid of a single stone except for the flower beds surrounding it.

Patients with leg disabilities were sitting in wheelchairs, enjoying the view in the rehabilitation center.

The two walked into the first building and reached Room 3011 on the third floor. From the doorway, they could see a woman seated inside. She was wrapped in a light yellow knitted sweater, sitting in a wheelchair, staring at the golden ginkgo trees outside the window.

“Room 3011, you have a visitor,” a nurse accompanying them pointed to the information in her hand, “You have thirty minutes for the visit; please leave when time is up.”

The woman inside maneuvered her wheelchair to turn around. Her black hair gracefully draped over her shoulders. She had a clean, delicate face with dark eyes that seemed unfocused. She asked, “Is it Arong?”

Receiving no response, she sounded confused, “Qu Rong?”

Qin Jiangsheng moved closer and stuffed carnations into her arms, “I’m not Qu Rong. I’m his friend.”

The woman’s face fell, then she lifted her head and smiled briefly, “Thank you. How is he doing? Is he very busy with work? It has been two months since he visited me; does he blame me for holding him back?”

Qin Jiangsheng’s lips pressed together slightly. The woman in front of him was blind in both eyes and had disabled legs, rendering her incapable of taking care of even the most basic aspects of daily life.

“He’s busy with work, so he sent me to visit in his stead. Sister Qu, he mentioned he is gathering money for your surgery. He will have enough soon. He wants you to not worry about him. You’ll be able to stand and see again very soon.”

The woman facing them was Qu Rong’s biological sister, Qu Yun, who had lost her legs and sight in a car accident three years ago. It was during Qu Rong’s last visit with flowers when Qin Jiangsheng realized his friend’s money wasn’t squandered but saved for his sister’s surgery.

Qu Rong risked everything for him, yet what about his only sister in this world?

While being around Qu Rong, Qin Jiangsheng had come to understand what family meant—those for whom one would go all out to protect.

Qu Yun lowered her head to smell the flowers, a pale smile touching her cheeks, “How much is needed? He never tells me anything. It’s okay not to treat me; it would have been better if I hadn’t been saved. I’m of no help to him; I’m just a burden.”

“Please deliver a message for me; let him call me every week. As long as he’s safe, that’s enough.”

After leaving the rehabilitation center, Ji Tian glanced back one more time. Qu Yun was still sitting by the window, stubbornly looking outside even though she could see nothing.

“Is this your driver’s sister? Last time he took you to a bar, I thought he wasn’t a decent person. Turns out, I misjudged him,” Ji Tian spoke with a touch of guilt. With Qu Rong’s flamboyant appearance, who would have known he was desperately earning money just to heal his disabled sister?

Qin Jiangsheng chuckled throatily, “He was never really a decent person.”

“He hasn’t gathered enough for the surgery and feels ashamed to see her. I think he couldn’t bear to spend even on a bouquet of flowers, so he asked me to cover it.”

Ji Tian knew he was joking, but she couldn’t help feeling a bit melancholic.

She sighed lightly and asked, “How much is needed?”

Qin Jiangsheng shook his head, “I’m not sure… he should have it gathered by this year.”

The two parted ways in the residential area. Ji Tian carried a bouquet of baby’s breath into her family living room. She touched the dried flowers, grateful they would last a long time, then placed them on her desk where she could always see them.

After dinner, she started her long-awaited live broadcast amidst the anticipation of thousands.
