Chapter 43: Chapter 43 How Did She End Up in the Water?

Ji Tian patted her on the head as if she was caring for a grown child, “Less reading tonight, go watch more legal education programs, you can learn a lot from them too.”

Jian Chuyi: “…” @@novelbin@@

To her, these programs had always been something that her father’s generation enjoyed watching.

During lunch, Ji Tian saw Qin Jiangsheng in the cafeteria.

Old Sir Bai probably knew Qin Jiangsheng wasn’t having a good time in the villa complex and was now trying to make it up to him in every possible way.

After lunch, Ji Tian certainly didn’t forget to give Qin Jiangsheng another tutoring session.

...

Ever since she acquired the “Never Forget” skill, she found that reading was so joyful; whatever the teachers taught, she only had to carefully read it once to remember.

But to gain more advanced knowledge, she still had to study on her own. Ji Tian decided that the next time she received Faith Value, she would invest it in Wisdom.

The spot where the two sat was not too secluded.

Shen Zhiyi then realized that Ji Tian was using tutoring as a way to get close to Qin Jiangsheng. She thought that since she was first in the entire grade, she could teach him more efficiently.

But she couldn’t think of a way to get close to Qin Jiangsheng. Her gaze shifted toward Ji Weinan, who was with Quan Jingyou not far away, and there was a flicker in her eyes as if she had an idea.

On the day of Imperial City Academy’s autumn excursion, the whole school had a holiday.

Those with money would go, and those without could also join in for the fun; it was all up to you.

Last year’s popular crowd was Bai Tingyu’s group, and so it was this year.

Bright and early, Qiao Luhua prepared everything Ji Tian needed for the excursion: a diamond-studded sun hat, sunglasses, an umbrella, and even told her to bring the ruby she used for cracking walnuts, in case she needed to defend herself against any bad people.

Ji Tian’s mouth twitched at all the dazzling items that were somewhat blinding in the light, but she still silently slipped the ruby into her bag.

She had a Rolls-Royce for her ride there and didn’t need to squeeze onto the school’s bus.

Looking around, she asked, “Mom, where’s third brother?”

Lady Qiao was sipping on her beauty-preserving bird’s nest soup: “He left early, said he was going to pick up a friend.”

Ji Tian could guess with her toes that the friend was Shen Zhiyi. She sighed and got into the car to send a message to Qin Jiangsheng:

“Have you set off yet? Want me to pick you up?”

Qin Jiangsheng just sent her a location, which turned out to be Peacock Resort.

Ji Tian was the last to arrive at the villa.

When her Rolls-Royce, worth millions, stopped at the entrance of the resort, it still attracted many onlookers.

Outside, there was a line of luxury cars—Ferraris, Bentleys, Maseratis, and others symbolizing wealth and status—that always made a timely appearance at such events.

The outing was planned to spend a day at the villa, returning to school in the afternoon.

Peacock Villa was vast, and upon Ji Tian’s arrival, attendants automatically guided her to the deluxe hall.

When Ji Tian entered, the place was already filled to the brim with clusters of people chattering away, some socialites holding red wine glasses, surrounded by friends, all in lively conversation.

Two long tables were set up in the hall, with beverages, fruits, and pastries all available for the taking.

Ji Tian had no interest in this sort of setting; she was only there because Qiao Luhua had urged her to come to make some friends.

She looked around, feeling that having Jian Chuyi as a close and dear friend was enough.

She intended to find Jian Chuyi and then discreetly hang on until it was time to return to school.

There was also a very deep swimming pool in the luxurious hall, although no one was swimming at the moment.

Not finding Jian Chuyi in the hall, Ji Tian decided to look for her by the swimming pool.

Her arrival immediately caught Gong Dongxi’s attention, who pushed Bei Ning excitedly, “Go on, our protagonist has arrived.”

Bei Ning bit her lip, fearful as she took a step back, “Xixi, maybe we shouldn’t do this. It’s too dangerous.”

Gong Dongxi narrowed her eyes, “Are you scared? Didn’t you say you’d go through fire and water for me? Just pushing Ji Tian into the pool to embarrass her is too much for you?”

Bei Ning’s face turned scarlet. Was this a trivial matter?! If Ji Tian drowned from a mishap, would she even have a life left? Whether successful or not, the Beijia would have to bear the wrath of the Ji Family, and Bei Ning felt somewhat reluctant.

Gong Dongxi huffed, “What are you afraid of? Besides, just pretend it was an accident that you pushed her in. Someone will rescue her quickly; she won’t drown. Even if the Ji Family makes trouble afterward, just deny it, and stick to your story. With my Gong Family backing you, they won’t do anything to your family.”

“Didn’t Ji Tian ridicule you the other day? Don’t you want to see her humiliated?”

Gradually persuaded, Bei Ning thought, yeah, she could just pretend to fall and push her in. Someone would save her, and after all, she wouldn’t die. Ji Tian was indeed detestable.

Bei Ning’s gaze dropped, concealing the malice within.

She resented the wealthy. In this circle, she was the least noticeable, so she clung to the Gong Family, from whom Gong Dongxi was generous, showering her with many fine things.

In order not to damage their friendship, Bei Ning nodded seriously, “Alright, leave it to me. I won’t let you down.”

Gong Dongxi smiled with satisfaction, “That’s more like it. Go on, I’ll be waiting for your good news.”

After Bei Ning left, Gong Dongxi watched with excitement.

Feng Juanjuan looked around and, not seeing any familiar faces, felt a bit disappointed.

Then her gaze shifted, and her eyes narrowed slightly.

Qin Jiangsheng was heading towards Ji Tian.

Ji Tian, still searching for Jian Chuyi, was oblivious to the impending danger.

She stood by the pool, looking at her phone and frowning, “Strange, didn’t Chuyi say he’d be nearby? Where did he go?”

As the distance closed, Bei Ning’s palms began to sweat. Seeing Ji Tian’s back to her, now was the perfect opportunity.

She decided to go for broke, gritted her teeth, and rushed forward.

Ji Tian turned around, took one step, and her body suddenly lurched.

A splash and Ji Tian’s cursing sounded simultaneously.

“Damn it, who left a walnut on the ground?!”

Someone grabbed her, and Ji Tian’s body tilted directly into a broad chest.

Looking up in surprise, Ji Tian exclaimed, “Qin Jiangsheng?”

“Ah! Help!”

This sudden shout startled Ji Tian.

Following Qin Jiangsheng’s gaze, she saw Bei Ning struggling in the pool. Security quickly dove in, pulling nearly unconscious Bei Ning from the water.

Confused, Ji Tian’s mind was filled with question marks, “How did she end up in the water on such a wide path?”

Qin Jiangsheng’s gaze lingered briefly on Bei Ning before returning to Ji Tian. He spoke indifferently, “I don’t know. Are you scared?”

Ji Tian stared blankly at the walnut, “Who would be so mean to throw walnuts by the pool! I almost fell.”

Qin Jiangsheng gave her a nonchalant glance, “Falling on the ground is still better than being pushed into the pool.”

For a moment, Ji Tian was baffled, her eyes on the approaching doctor, the chaotic crowd…

Did Qin Jiangsheng mean Bei Ning was out to harm her?
