After the divorce, she became a female billionaire

Chapter 20

“Sister Bertha, why were you gone for so long?”

"What's up? What's up?" Bertha noticed his expression and asked back.

"Alex sent someone to find you. He said that the matter you asked him to investigate yesterday already has clues. He told you to come back and find him if you have time."

“Okay, I'll go now.”

“No matter what, you have to finish your rice and then go.”

He cried out helplessly, and Bertha drove away.

---

After Derek finished eating, he took Laura back to the hotel.

Seeing the quiet room, Laura was a little unhappy. She pulled his hand and cooed. “Derek, we're engaged, can't I go back to the villa with you?”

Derek unconsciously frowned.

Even though he was unhappy, he was still comforting. "Please wait a little longer, I will ask my people to quickly arrange suitable accommodation for you."

Laura keenly sensed his dissatisfaction.

In her heart, she felt even more sorry for herself.

Why was Bertha able to enter that mansion and be the hostess for three years, but she was not even qualified to enter?

But she didn't dare ask these words, she knew that Derek didn't like jealous or nagging women.

“It's okay if I don't return to the villa, the hotel is so cold, Derek, can you stay with me? One night is fine."

Her coy, wise voice and self-pitying appearance make it hard for men not to be moved.

But even looking at her, Derek didn't look, his face was expressionless, and no one knew what he was thinking.

"My company still has things to deal with, you should rest early."

Having finished speaking, he let go of her hand and left.

When the door was coldly closed, Laura sat down on the carpet, her eyes filled with tears.

After meeting Derek, he no longer pampered and loved her like before.

She knows she was wrong to break up with him years ago. But he said he forgave her. They even had sex many times but why has he become cold now since the divorce?

Laura's expression gradually became confused.

She was thinking depressedly, the door opened again, and a man's black leather shoes entered her sight.

“Derek. I know you will..."

She was extremely excited and happy. Before she could finish her words, she raised her head and saw that the person entering was not Derek, but Cadell.

Her expression was depressed again.

Cadell saw her lonely appearance, he felt a little heartbroken but still spoke. “Miss. Laura, I'm sorry to bother you. I have something urgent to ask you."

"You say it, I will answer seriously."

Seeing her reluctant to keep a smiling face made Cadell's heart ache even more, he asked. “Last night Miss. Bertha got off work, she was driving in the middle of the road when she encountered a group of thugs blocking the road. This situation is extremely dangerous, do you know?”

Laura was stunned. "What. So is Bertha okay?”

"She's okay. Last night my boss was also there. He took care of the police officers, but he told me to investigate the mastermind behind it."

After he finished speaking, he raised his eyes to observe Laura's face.

Laura seemed to breathe a sigh of relief. “That's good then.”

Then she seemed to understand what Cadell meant, she looked at him with an unimaginable expression. “So you specifically came here to ask me thinking that the person standing behind is me?”

Cadell didn't say anything, but you could tell by the look in his eyes.

If this wasn't so dangerous, he definitely wouldn't suspect Laura.

But that day, just as he told Laura that his boss had gone to the Angle Group's parking lot to look for Bertha, she was intentionally surrounded on the street.

It's too much of a coincidence.

It's hard not to think that this has nothing to do with Laura.

She pretended to be pitiful and said heartbroken. "Cadell, I've always considered you my best friend. I didn't expect you to doubt me. How could I send someone to harm Bertha? I originally didn't know which road she would drive down."

In a moment, Cadell softened again.

"I believe you are a good person. This is not your doing."

But, did she talk about it with anyone else?

Laura thought for a moment.

If Cadell also suspected her, Bertha would now investigate the people she talked to recently.

At that point, the work she built to create an unjust image in front of Cadell will become meaningless.

At this point, she can only sacrifice others.

Laura pretended to think, seeming to remember something, she said. "That day I was very heartbroken. Rose called to ask about me. I told her..."

She stopped, waved her hand, and said. "No no, Rose definitely can't do this, I trust her sister."

Lucas was somewhat relieved, sighed, and replied. "Miss. Laura, you are a good girl, but others won't be as simple and gentle as you."

After he finished speaking, he quickly left the hotel and continued to investigate further. By the way, he quietly erased Laura's involvement in this matter.

Waiting until Cadell left, Laura got angry and stomped her foot.

She felt confused, about why no one came back last night to report the situation, it turned out that Derek saved that damn bitch.

Now she can only bring out Rose to fend for her. Wait until Derek knows about this, he will be even more careful.

This Rose chess piece cannot be used temporarily.

But she won't let go of that bitch Bertha.

She clenched her hands into fists, eyes filled with cruelty and venom.

---

Bertha returns to Venn's mansion, he has obtained detailed clues.

The person who hired those thugs was Mrs. Victoria, Rose is the one standing next to her pulling the strings.

Bertha finished looking at the evidence and her expression turned pale.

She had guessed that this matter must have something to do with Tibble's family, but...

"What happened last night has nothing to do with Laura?"

Venn pondered. "I sent someone to investigate Laura very carefully."

"Uhm."

Venn asked again. "But you know who the mastermind is, what do you plan to do?"

Bertha smirked, she already had a calculation in her heart.

"Third brother, I want some bodyguards who are a little stronger."

Venn was stunned by Bertha's cunning appearance like a little fox, then he pinched her nose and said fondly. "Does not matter."

Bertha smiled sweetly, her voice soft. "It's still the third brother who loves me the most."
