After Transmigrating into a Novel with My Boyfriend, He Turned Out to Be a Native Villain

Chapter 1: The Car Accident

Thunder rumbled through the sky as dark clouds churned overhead. Blinding streaks of white lightning flashed across the oppressive, deep purple sky, illuminating the night for just a moment before plunging everything back into darkness.

Click.

The towering office building, once aglow with artificial light, was suddenly swallowed by pitch-blackness.

“F**k, this damned weather—is it out to ruin me? I didn’t even save my document yet!”

A woman’s frustrated voice echoed through the dark office. She flicked on a flashlight and began gathering her things, grumbling about B Company’s inhumane overtime policies.

“Making us work late in this kind of storm—no wonder there’s a blackout. Even the heavens couldn’t stand it.”

Her complaint earned a soft chuckle from the woman beside her. With a teasing sigh, she said, “Wasn’t someone just whining about wanting to leave work ten minutes ago? Well, looks like the heavens answered her prayers, and now she’s still not happy~”

The speaker was a stunning young woman with delicate features—a classic oval face, a petite nose, and sharp, alluring eyes. When she smiled, her gaze carried a seductive charm, naturally drawing people in.

Like a fox—pure yet temptingly dangerous.

Though, this little fox had a streak of mischief in her.

Hearing the remark, the first woman turned to look at Yu Li, who was idly spinning in her chair with an air of pure leisure. She sighed dramatically, her face full of resignation.

“Yu Li, could you stay a little farther away from me? Your happiness is blinding.”

Yu Li immediately stopped spinning, sat up straight, and saluted playfully. Her voice rang out crisply, “Understood, boss!”

Then, she leaned in again, her voice soft and sweet. “Don’t be mad~ I’ll buy you coffee tomorrow as an apology.”

The woman couldn’t help but laugh. “Fine, but you better not go back on your word.”

She finished tidying up her desk and was about to leave when she noticed Yu Li still sitting in her chair. She paused mid-step.

“Aren’t you leaving? Your boyfriend’s not here yet?”

Yu Li glanced at her phone and shrugged. “No message yet. He should be on his way. You go ahead—I’d rather wait here. The underground parking lot is way darker than this.”

“Alright, alright, I’m out.”

Just as she reached the door, something seemed to cross her mind. She turned back, her lips curving into a mischievous grin.

“By the way, when’s the big day? Your wedding, I mean. I’ll have to prepare a hefty red envelope for you.”

Yu Li’s face flushed slightly. She coughed, a bit embarrassed, and averted her gaze. “Uh… soon, I think. I’ll definitely invite you when the time comes.”

“Haha, alright, alright. I’m really leaving now.”

The woman pressed the elevator button. Thankfully, the building still had backup power, so she didn’t have to take the stairs.

Before stepping in, she turned for one last look at Yu Li, who was sitting at her desk, smiling at her phone. She was probably texting someone.

The whole office knew about Yu Li’s boyfriend. The two of them were practically inseparable, their relationship the envy of many.

Her boyfriend often came to pick her up from work, and on special occasions, he’d even buy coffee for the entire floor. He personally prepared her lunch every day, never missing a beat. A true “Three Good Boyfriend.”

Now, they were finally at the stage of discussing marriage.

Not easy, indeed.

As the elevator doors slowly slid shut, the woman sighed with a smile, shaking her head.

She’d probably be attending Yu Li’s wedding soon.

A soft ding broke the silence of the now-empty office.

With no one else around, the smile on Yu Li’s face gradually faded.

She stretched lazily, put down her phone, grabbed her bag, and strolled toward the elevator. Thunder rumbled outside, the heavy rain hammering against the windows.

She pressed the button to go down, arms folded as she watched the glowing red numbers count their way up.

Everything was in order—until the numbers suddenly froze halfway up. They flickered twice.

Then, darkness.

Yu Li: “…”

She glanced at the “15” on the floor sign beside her and fell silent.

Just then, her phone rang. She looked down, answered the call, and immediately pouted in a pitiful tone.

“Honey, the elevator’s out too. I have to take the stairs now. It’s so dark here…”

If her coworker had seen her acting like this, she would’ve been shocked speechless.

Because she had never seen Yu Li behave this way before.

A low, soothing voice came through the receiver. “Baby, take the stairs on your left. Don’t hang up—I’m coming up to find you.”

Yu Li held the phone to her ear, pushing open the stairwell door with her free hand.

The emergency exit signs cast an eerie green glow in the pitch-black stairwell. The atmosphere was straight out of a horror movie.

But Yu Li’s expression remained completely calm.

Only when she glanced down at her high heels did her composed face finally crack.

She exhaled, closed her eyes briefly, then resigned herself to the situation. Switching on her flashlight, she started heading down.

Moments later, her phone displayed a low battery warning.

Yu Li frowned and switched to power-saving mode.

“Bo Jingmo, my phone’s about to die.”

His voice remained gentle, accompanied by faint echoes from his side. “Are you tired, baby? Just turn on your flashlight and wait for me on the tenth floor. Save your battery—I’m almost there.”

Yu Li: “Okay, I’ll be on the tenth floor.”

The signal in the stairwell must have been weak. The call ended right after she spoke.

She didn’t think much of it.

Glancing at the "10F" sign, she turned off her flashlight, took off her heels, and held them in one hand as she continued downward in complete darkness.

Her steps were steady—too steady, as if she could see perfectly fine even without light. The railing beside her was purely decorative;she didn’t need it at all.

When she reached the eighth-floor landing, she suddenly heard familiar footsteps approaching from below.

Yu Li paused.

She instinctively stepped back into the shadows, pressing herself against the wall.

The footsteps grew closer, yet there was no light in the stairwell.

There were only two possibilities:

Either it was a ghost.

Or the other person… hadn’t turned on their flashlight either.

She smirked.

Leaning against the wall, she called out, “Bo Jingmo.”

The very next second, she was lifted off the ground and pressed against the wall. Instinctively, her arms wrapped around the man’s neck. The high heels in her hand slipped and hit the floor with a soft thud.

A warm palm slid down her thigh, slowly trailing downward until it gently grasped her ankle.

“Why aren’t you wearing shoes?”

His lips brushed against her cheek as he spoke, his breath warm against her skin. The familiar, crisp scent of pine surrounded her—his cologne, the one she had chosen for him.

Yu Li’s eyes curved into a smile.

Tilting her head, she let him kiss her neck and murmured lazily, “Heels are uncomfortable.”

Her arms tightened around his neck as she nuzzled against him.

“Director Bo, what do you think? Did this little stunt add some inspiration to your horror film? I even skipped the flashlight for the ambiance.”

A couple that doesn’t turn on their lights in the stairwell—now that’s a special kind of mutual understanding.

The other person let out a soft chuckle upon hearing her words, burying his face in the crook of her neck. Like a devoted believer, he pressed gentle kisses against her delicate skin, his deep voice husky, “Li Li, aren’t you afraid?”

“Afraid?” Yu Li lifted a hand to his face, her fingertips tracing the sharp bridge of his nose before brushing over his warm lips. Her movements were ambiguous, laced with quiet temptation.

She narrowed her eyes slightly and lowered her head to place a kiss at the corner of his lips. “With a professional horror film director as my boyfriend, who drags me to watch scary movies every day, even if I was afraid of ghosts before, I’m cured now.”

“That’s good.”

The man chuckled softly. His murmured words were lost in the darkness before Yu Li could catch them—because the next moment, he tilted his head and captured her lips in a kiss.

His lips were warm, but unlike his usual gentleness, his movements this time carried a sense of dominance, an urgency that felt almost possessive.

Yu Li found herself unable to keep up. She grasped his tie, slightly arching her body as her breathing grew unsteady. Her voice was hoarse from the intensity of the kiss.

“Hmm? Director Bo, why are you so worked up today?”

Bo Jingmo was always eager whenever he saw her, but tonight, there was something different—his actions were rushed, almost desperate.

Like someone clinging onto something they were about to lose.

He didn’t answer. Instead, he lifted his head slightly and placed a tender kiss at the corner of her lips. His tone was soft, affectionate, yet tinged with an unsettling obsession.

“I love you, Li Li.”

The deep, magnetic voice carried such raw emotion that Yu Li’s ears tingled. She half-lowered her gaze, staying quiet for a moment before bowing her head and placing a gentle kiss on his closed eyelids, as if bestowing her favor upon him.

“I love you too.”

Once they got in the car, Yu Li noticed the tension in Bo Jingmo’s expression. Tilting her head, she studied him with curiosity.

“Bo Jingmo, are you hiding something from me?”

He froze for a brief second before flashing a small smile. His voice remained warm and steady.

“Li Li, I’ll tell you when we get home.”

Yu Li raised a brow at his response.

Glancing at the stormy weather outside, she shifted into a comfortable position and closed her eyes to rest.

“Fine. But focus on driving first.”

She didn’t notice the fleeting flicker of complex emotions in Bo Jingmo’s eyes.

Lightning continued to streak across the sky, illuminating the world in blinding flashes. Some bolts even struck the ground, the thunderous booms loud enough to rattle the heart.

At first, Yu Li paid no attention.

But then—

A sudden, intense flash of white light filled her vision. A gut-wrenching sense of wrongness hit her instantly.

This wasn’t lightning!

She raised a hand to shield her eyes and squinted, just as she was abruptly pulled into a warm embrace. A large hand covered her vision, preventing her from looking.

“Be good, don’t look.”

Bo Jingmo’s voice was still gentle, but this time, Yu Li caught the faint tremor of unease beneath it.

The way he was acting tonight—the stairwell incident, his hurried kisses, and now this—reminded her of the first time she had met him, back when his demeanor had been disturbingly unhinged.

She didn’t even care about what was happening at the moment.

All she could think about was—what was Bo Jingmo hiding from her?

How had things suddenly reverted back to square one?

The piercing screech of brakes jolted her back to reality.

Only then did Yu Li realize that something was terribly wrong. She forcefully pried Bo Jingmo’s hand away.

And then she saw it.

Her pupils shrank violently.

A massive truck was speeding straight toward them!

BANG!

The violent impact sent a tremor through her entire body.

Just before the collision, Bo Jingmo turned and shielded her with his own body.

Yu Li’s breath caught in her throat as she screamed, “Bo Jingmo!”

But her voice was drowned out by the deafening crash. Sparks exploded in the air.

The man’s arms tightened around her with overwhelming strength, as if he wanted to merge her into his very bones.

“Li Li, don’t forget me…”

His voice was faint, carried away by the night wind. Yet, there was an undeniable sorrow laced within it.

But Yu Li didn’t hear any of it.

Her consciousness faded rapidly.

In her final moments, she caught a glimpse of an impossibly bright light streaking toward them from the sky.

What… was that?

She turned her head slightly, looking at Bo Jingmo, who had fallen unconscious beside her.

She clenched his hand tightly, closed her eyes, and sank completely into the darkness.
