Chapter 110: Sweet Dreams
Yi Xian froze when she saw who entered. “This is…”
Yu Jiao introduced, “This is Mu Chengsi, one of deva’s veteran members.”
Yi Xian glanced once and then looked away, quickly standing up. “If there’s nothing else, I’ll be heading out…”
Yu Jiao smiled, “All right. Rong Fan, please see Miss Yi out.”
Rong Fan stepped forward, “Come on, I’ll walk you out.”
As Rong Fan led her out, Mu Chengsi withdrew her gaze. “So? Did you get anything out of her?”
Yu Jiao pushed the report on the table toward her. “Bo Jingmo has apparently had a few contacts with the peace team’s junior members. We were a bit late—peace is probably already planning to invite him to collaborate.”
Mu Chengsi picked it up and flipped through it casually. Her eyes paused on one line: “After Bo Jingmo became a ghost, he killed Ji Xun.”
“Peace probably won’t take in someone like that. Bo Jingmo’s bloodlust already became notorious in the beginner instance. His two teammates are probably more likely to catch peace’s eye.”
Yu Jiao nodded in agreement and chuckled. “Luckily, it’s not too late. The situation just turned out different than we expected. Initially, we thought that once Bo Jingmo turned into a ghost, his dark impulses would get amplified, and he’d go on a killing spree. But now, Yi Xian says he listens to the NPC.”
“Listens to the NPC? A player listening to an NPC?” Mu Chengsi raised an eyebrow. “That’s wild.”
“That part needs further investigation. We’ll assign someone to team up with Yi Xian in the next instance. We need to get more information on Bo Jingmo and build a connection to keep observing him.” Yu Jiao looked to the man beside her. “Xu He, you’ve teamed with Yi Xian a few times. She trusts you. You go next time.”
Xu He gave a slight nod. “Got it.”
Rong Fan returned just then from escorting Yi Xian out. Seeing everyone was present, Yu Jiao tapped the table. “There’s one more thing. I heard Bo Jingmo admitted that the female ghost is his girlfriend.”
She flipped to the section about the mountain village instance, narrowing her eyes. “Some of our other members have entered that instance before, and that identity has never come up.”
Rong Fan added from the side, “It’s either hidden plot content, or… Bo Jingmo made it up himself.”
Mu Chengsi looked surprised. “He can make up identities?”
Yu Jiao’s eyes flickered with something unreadable. She adjusted her glasses and smiled faintly, the meaning behind her expression unclear. “Of course he can. The system never said you couldn’t. But the premise is—he has to fool the audience and the other players.”
After all, that person used to do the same thing all the time, and made fools out of everyone.
She gathered her things and stood up. “That’s all for now. I’ll submit this report to the higher-ups.”
Mu Chengsi had originally come to report Bo Jingmo’s recent activity at school, but after seeing all this, she opened her mouth—then silently swallowed her words.
Forget it, she’d keep watching a bit longer.
—
After class in the evening, Yu Li walked out of the teaching building and messaged Bo Jingmo to say she was done. But the moment she looked up, she saw him already waiting downstairs.
Autumn had arrived. The boy wore a black windbreaker that made his tall figure even more striking. Paired with his cool, ink-like brows and eyes, just standing there, he drew every gaze.
She put away her phone and walked over quickly. “Senior, did you have class this afternoon too?”
Bo Jingmo paused, then replied vaguely, “Mm.” “Hungry? Let’s eat first, then shop.”
Yu Li walked with him, then chuckled, “Senior, every time you call me out it’s for food. I feel like I’m becoming your dining companion.”
She glanced at her phone. “It’s still early, let’s shop a bit first.”
“Okay.” Bo Jingmo couldn’t help glancing at the girl’s profile, his gaze falling on her smiling eyes.
Ever since he realized the NPC from the instance was Yu Li, it felt like every little detail matched up.
Buckle fastened, he asked casually, “Did you sleep well last night?”
Yu Li’s hand paused over her phone. A familiar question—someone had asked her the same thing that morning.
She looked up. “Pretty well. Why are you suddenly asking?”
The car started to move. Bo Jingmo smiled lightly. “No reason. I’ve just been dreaming a lot lately. I usually forget them after waking up. Thought I’d ask if you’ve had that happen too.”
“I see.” Yu Li pretended to think for a few seconds before answering, “It’s not too bad, I guess. I might remember right after waking up, but then forget it soon after.”
She glanced at the man driving and spoke pointedly, “Judging by your tone... you didn’t want to forget that dream? Sounds like it was a good one.”
At that, the man chuckled but didn’t respond. As they waited at a red light, he finally turned to look at her.
Their eyes met in the air.
Yu Li froze slightly when she met his gaze.
Those usually indifferent eyes were now full of warmth, the sharp lines of his face softening. His eyes curved gently, brimming with pure joy.
He said, “Yeah. It was a good dream.”
The red light turned green. Bo Jingmo looked forward again, but the corner of his mouth still held a slight smile.
Hands on the wheel, he chuckled softly. “Might be the best dream I’ve had in over twenty years.”
Hearing that, Yu Li lowered her gaze without a word. After a while, she let out a faint laugh. “Really? That’s good, then.”
She turned her head, staring out the window. Her expression wasn’t as joyful as Bo Jingmo’s—there was a heaviness to it.
“Sis, what’s wrong?” The system sensed something off in her mood and asked with concern.
Yu Li leaned back in her seat and closed her eyes, replying in her heart, “It’s nothing. Just remembering some things from before.”
Hearing Bo Jingmo describe his dream so happily, she couldn’t help but think of their past life.
Even after they left the psychiatric hospital and built a life together, Bo Jingmo was never truly cured.
Countless late nights, the man would hug her tightly from behind, burying her in his arms, crimson eyes filled with panic, cold sweat beading on his forehead.
He’d press his face into the hollow of her neck, arms tightening bit by bit like he was clinging to safety, his voice trembling, lost and afraid.
“Li Li, I dreamed of them again... I saw them again... and I killed again, I couldn’t control it. I’m not normal. I still kill people.”
She’d barely gotten any sleep, woken several times in the first half of the night.
Opening her eyes, she turned on the bedside lamp, then slowly turned around and wrapped her arms around his neck.
“Bo Jingmo, rub my waist.” She spoke lazily, not caring at all about his emotional state.
Honestly, she didn’t even need to say it. The man’s hand had already instinctively moved to massage her, his warm palm pressing on her soft waist, moving expertly.
Yu Li kissed his cheek. “Still dreaming about those faceless people?”
“Yeah.” Bo Jingmo mumbled against her scent, “Li Li, maybe I’m just not meant to live a normal life. I’ll just drag you down.”
Yu Li looked at him with lidded eyes and replied casually, “Then you won’t be able to do this back at the hospital. It’s too crowded. But if you’re really worried, we can go back tomorrow.”
Bo Jingmo: “......”
His arms suddenly tightened. “We’re not going back.”
Yu Li couldn’t help but let out a soft laugh. She stroked his face and leaned in to kiss the corner of his mouth. “Bo Jingmo, what others say doesn’t matter as much as what I say, right?”
The man leaned in obediently. “Right.”
Yu Li pushed against his shoulder, eyes curved. “Good. Then don’t listen to what they say. If you dream about them again, just kill them all.”
Her fingertips brushed his crimson eyes, and she leaned up to kiss him gently. “It’s okay. I told you to kill them.”
That way, it wouldn’t be considered abnormal.
Because you were just obeying your girlfriend.
What do you think?
