After Transmigrating into a Novel with My Boyfriend, He Turned Out to Be a Native Villain

Chapter 8: Visiting the Neighbors

The morning sunlight streamed into the room, and downstairs, Jodie could hear her mother, Elia, complaining from the kitchen.

“Joeci! I told you not to play with the ketchup!”

“Darling, can you check on Jodie? She’s still not up, and it’s getting late. If we don’t leave soon, we’ll be late.”

The voices drifted upstairs, rousing Jodie from her sleep. She blinked groggily, still a bit disoriented.

Turning her head, her gaze landed on the drawer, and for a brief moment, she froze. The events of last night rushed back into her mind—along with that eerie strand of black hair.

After a pause, she slowly sat up. The first thing she did after getting out of bed was check on the jar.

Seeing that it was still in the same place as last night, she let out an almost imperceptible sigh of relief.

Her eyes flicked to the trash bin beside her, and she hesitated for several minutes. But in the end, she closed the drawer again.

When she went downstairs, her younger sister, Joeger, was playing with dolls on the couch. Their father was at the dining table reading the newspaper, and across from him sat Joeci, who was squeezing ketchup onto her plate with an expressionless face.

Just then, Jiang Xi walked out of the kitchen. Seeing Jodie, she smiled and waved. “Come have some breakfast, sweetheart.”

At the table, Joeci’s movements paused upon hearing this. Her gaze shifted from the bread to Jodie, who was descending the stairs. Slowly, she put down the ketchup bottle. Her messy green hair was tangled on her head, and her pale eyes were devoid of emotion—but her lips curved upward, forming what seemed to be a smile, as if greeting Jodie.

It looked incredibly eerie.

Jodie pretended not to notice the unsettling smile and walked over to the dining table. “Mom, are we going somewhere later?”

She had vaguely heard something about going out while she was upstairs.

Jiang Xi nodded. “Yes, we’re going to visit our neighbors as a family.”

Hearing this, Jodie’s eyes lit up with surprise. “Is it Aunt Filia?!”

Jiang Xi placed a plate on the table and smiled. “Of course. Aunt Filia saved Joeger, so we definitely have to thank her.”

At that moment, Joeger ran over, shouting excitedly, “I want to thank Aunt Filia too! She saved me!”

Hou Liang reached out and patted her head. “Joeger is such a good girl. Didn’t you prepare a gift for Aunt Filia? Don’t forget to bring it.”

“Dad, you’re right!”

Joeger immediately bolted upstairs. “I’ll go get it now!”

Everyone was in high spirits—except for Joeci, who scoffed in disdain. “Tch, just an old woman.”

Her voice was low, but Jodie still caught it. She turned to see Joeci looking somewhat pale and hesitated before cautiously asking, “Joeci, are you feeling unwell? Do you want to rest while we go instead?”

Joeci shot her a sideways glance, licked her dry lips, and replied irritably, “No, I’m going too.”

Indeed, maintaining the appearance of a living person in a dead body was proving difficult.

Joeci—no, at this point, it was Da Dong.

Ever since he had taken control of this body last night, he had been under the Young Master’s command: get close to that woman.

Da Dong didn’t understand why, but he had no choice but to follow orders.

That damned foreign woman… The Young Master must want to torment her, which is why he ordered him to get close—to probe her weaknesses.

In fact, not only was Da Dong confused, but even the audience in the livestream chat didn’t understand what Bo Jingmo was thinking.

【Wait, what is Bo Jingmo doing? Normally, wouldn’t he go on a full-blown killing spree? Why did he only kill one person?】

【Maybe he just woke up and hasn’t adjusted yet? Who knows what’s going on in his head? I haven’t had enough screen time with Xi Xi yet.】

【Hold on, that beautiful woman was actually the one who killed Bo Jingmo? Damn. An aloof Eastern Young Master versus a stunning Western femme fatale—this is such a thrilling dynamic... Bo Jingmo, if you act well this time, I’ll give you a high rating!】

【Same! I totally get it! This ship is amazing! Too bad Bo Jingmo always kills too quickly. I doubt the beautiful lady will last long this time either.】

【Sigh, Bo Jingmo has no free will. If he did, things would be so much more interesting.】

【I disagree. The last time the system gave him a human role, he died within minutes. I bet he burned through all his points already.】

As the family prepared to leave, Da Dong followed closely behind Jodie, narrowing his eyes at the girl in front of him.

The night he left, the Young Master’s seal had been broken almost immediately. The only person in that room at the time had been her.

She was probably the one who lifted the seal.

Maybe she also had that thing with her.

He leaned in closer behind Jodie and lowered his voice. “Jodie, did you pick something up?”

Jodie had been in a great mood, but her expression instantly froze. She stopped in her tracks and turned to meet Joeci’s lifeless eyes. Dark circles lingered beneath them, making her look particularly haggard. Her unkempt green hair was dry and brittle, like straw.

The sun was shining warmly above them, yet under Joeci’s gaze, chills crawled down Jodie’s spine, and goosebumps rose on her arms.

Suppressing her unease, she forced herself to stay calm and replied dryly, “What are you talking about? I don’t understand.”

“The thing from the attic.” Joeci’s eyes remained locked onto her. “Did you pick it up?”

“I don’t know! Stop asking me!”

A shiver ran down Jodie’s spine. She shouted abruptly, then turned and bolted toward Jiang Xi.

The sudden commotion caught Jiang Xi’s attention, and she turned around in confusion.

All she saw was Joeci standing alone, slightly hunched over, her arms neatly placed at her sides, chin tucked in, eyes looking up—staring at them with those dull, lifeless eyes.

Her posture was eerily reminiscent of an old crone, or perhaps an ancient servant, exuding an indescribable eeriness and chill.

Jiang Xi’s hand, which was holding Jodie’s shoulder, trembled. A dreadful thought flashed through her mind.

She exchanged a helpless glance with Hou Liang.

Hou Liang furrowed his brows, staring at Joeci for several seconds before raising his voice. “Joeci, what’s wrong? Aunt Filia is waiting for us.”

The familiar name made Da Dong’s eyes flicker with subtle changes. In the end, he straightened his posture, concealing his previous unnatural stance. His expression returned to an unreadable blankness as he took stiff steps toward them.

“I’m coming.”

However, his movements were noticeably rigid, and coupled with his corpse-like complexion, something still felt… off.

Jiang Xi’s heart trembled. She also noticed that Jodie’s expression wasn’t right.

It seemed like her eldest daughter had already triggered some sort of plot event. But for now, they had no choice but to wait until they got back to ask her about it.

No one brought up what had just happened, but they all instinctively kept a certain distance from Joeci as they walked toward the villa.

Yu Li was already waiting for them at the door.

She stood with her arms crossed, lazily leaning against the frame. The brilliant sunlight illuminated her golden hair, and her sapphire eyes held an air of indifference. Paired with her strikingly glamorous features, she was breathtaking.

For a moment, everyone was momentarily dazzled.

Seeing them approach, the woman’s previously lazy expression vanished. She straightened up, a bright smile curling her lips, and waved.

“You’re here. I made a feast for you all today, darlings.”

She wore an off-white, fitted dress with a ruffled neckline, fastened by a gemstone brooch. The clear, flawless gem reflected a dazzling light under the sun—an effortless yet elegant detail.

For Joeger, this was the first time seeing the woman who had saved her. And the moment she laid eyes on Yu Li, her eyes sparkled with admiration.

Aunt Filia is so beautiful!

Blushing, Joeger stepped forward with Jiang Xi and held out a carefully wrapped gift.

“Aunt Filia, this is a present I made for you! Thank you for saving me.”

She wore a fluffy dress today, and with her mixed-race features, she looked like a little princess.

“My goodness, what an adorable little darling.”

Yu Li squatted down in delight, taking the gift with both hands and speaking gently.

“Thank you, my dear little princess! What a wonderful surprise!”

Her blue eyes curved slightly as she leaned in, pressing a feathery kiss near the child’s soft cheek.

“Aunt Filia absolutely loves good little babies.”

Joeger’s cheeks turned even redder. “I’m glad you like it, Aunt Filia!”

Yu Li chuckled, ruffling her hair, then turned to Jiang Xi. “Your daughter is precious. Come in, I’ve got everything prepared.”

Jiang Xi blushed slightly in embarrassment. “Sorry, we haven’t really tidied up our place yet. Otherwise, we should’ve invited you over instead.”

Even though she was playing the role of a mixed-race mother, her tone still carried the polite courtesy typical of the East.

Hearing this, Yu Li chuckled softly. “It’s fine, darling. After all, we have plenty of time ahead of us.”

As she finished speaking, her gaze suddenly landed on Joeci, who was standing at the very back.

It wasn’t that she intentionally looked—rather, the scorching stare from the other party made it impossible to ignore.

And the moment Yu Li’s gaze met hers, Joeci’s originally expressionless face twisted slightly. Her features flickered between those of a young girl and a middle-aged man, shifting like a glitching slideshow, before settling into a strange, distorted visage.

The only thing that remained unchanged was the overwhelming hatred and murderous intent in her eyes, as if she was ready to lunge forward and sink her teeth into Yu Li at any moment.

But in the very next second, it was as if something had suddenly frozen her in place. The fury on her face stiffened instantly, even replaced by fear. She stood there rigidly, not daring to make a single move.

It all happened in a split second—so fast that no one even noticed.

Yu Li, however, seemed completely unaware of any abnormalities. Her expression remained as composed as ever. She curved her eyes into a smile and stepped aside. “Come in, Joeci.”

Feeling the Young Master’s warning fade, Da Dong let out a silent breath of relief, but his gaze toward Yu Li was filled with undisguised loathing.

This woman—she was the reason he got punished by the Young Master.

As they brushed past each other, Da Dong barely managed to suppress the hatred boiling inside him. He had been strung up in the woods for over a decade, yet this woman had been basking in their power, living comfortably all this time.

The thought of it made him itch to kill her on the spot.

The opportunity was right in front of him—yet he couldn’t make a move!

Forget it. He would endure it for the Young Master’s sake.

Keeping his head low, Da Dong stepped into the house. But just as he did, he suddenly heard Yu Li let out a faint, ambiguous chuckle behind him.

His body stiffened. He jerked his head back, only to see the same graceful, smiling expression on her face, as if the sound he had just heard was nothing but his imagination.

Da Dong narrowed his eyes and glared at her, unwilling to look away.

It wasn’t until Jiang Xi’s voice called from inside that he finally shifted his gaze and walked further in.

Yu Li withdrew her gaze from Joeci and lowered her eyes to her own hand, where a faint wisp of dark energy lingered. It had transferred onto her just now, coming from Joeci.

Her eyes flickered slightly. Pretending not to notice the black mist, she reached for the door handle, ready to close it.

But just as she was about to shut the door, her movements suddenly paused.

Sensing something, Yu Li raised her head slightly, arching an eyebrow as her gaze drifted toward the second-floor window of the villa across from them.

Same spot as always—someone was watching her.

At the same time, a tingling sensation spread across the back of her hand. The wisp of black mist lightly brushed against her skin, its tiny tail flicking back and forth in a cautious, testing manner.

This hesitantly affectionate gesture felt far too familiar.

It was exactly like how that person used to be when they were still close—wanting to touch her, yet too afraid to do so openly, resorting to these subtle, concealed movements instead.

Yu Li’s lips curled slightly, but without hesitation, she reached out and shut the door with a sharp “snap.”
